The SpaceClean, comfy room in mid century "Madmen"-era house. So much better (and more kitschy-stylish) than a bland, soul-less hotel. We're in a perfect spot - just 8 min drive to Ferry and Old Orchard Beaches, 15-20 min into Portland, 1.3 mi to highway, close to route 1 and Eastern Trail, and one town south of Scarborough Marsh, for hiking/biking. Continental breakfast included!
Bedroom features one very comfortable full sized bed with new metal bed frame, new faux leather loveseat, lovely antique dresser, retro Jonathan Adler lighting, and closet, with foldable luggage rack. Also a bookcase with local magazines, menus, and general area info, as well as vintage travel guides. Note: there is no TV in the bedroom. A/c is in living room (seasonally), not in bedroom, but a window fan can be provided if desired.
Note that there is no air conditioning after Labor Day (ie late September).
We provide continental breakfast - things such as bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit + Keurig machine for coffee/tea!
There is a brick patio just off the kitchen, with seating, for relaxation after exploring.
The home is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, mid century, one storey home, on a nice, quiet dead end street. The driveway is sometimes shared by the owner. TV with basic cable in living room. Bathroom is occupied early mornings. Patio is shared, though rarely used by owners except to pass through to get to kitchen door.
Interaction can be whatever you are comfortable with, bearing in mind that, other than the bedroom, this is a shared space.
We're happy to offer recommendations on area beaches, restaurants, things to see and do in Saco and Portland areas (including the best sushi in Portland, and best lobster rolls, located right here in Saco!)

Note: The bathroom is needed first thing in the morning Mon through Fri. Interaction with GuestsWill interact with guests as much or as little as they like, bearing in mind that, other than your bedroom, this is a shared space. The NeighborhoodThis is a safe, dead quiet neighborhood located mid-way between route 1 and the highway in Saco, just a mile to town, and a quick drive to area beaches, and hiking.
We are walking distance to a tiny but decent, real deal Venezuelan restaurant (Luis's Arepera and Grill), and a short distance beyond that from the closest large grocery store, Shaw's Supermarket. Historic downtown Saco is just 1 mile from the house, and the area's best restaurant-pub, featuring live music and located in a beautiful old former brick mill building (hence it's name, Run of the Mill), is just 1.5 miles away. Getting AroundThe new-ish, completely "green" Saco Amtrak station, complete with the town's only windmill, is about 2 miles away, and features a gorgeous building with locally made furniture. There is a seasonal Amtrak stop to Old Orchard Beach - next town over from Saco - as well as a year round stop in Portland, and of course, the train goes all the way to Boston as well.
The local shuttle runs from Biddeford into Saco and Old Orchard Beach for $1.25 each way.
The commuter "Zoom" bus picks up about 1 mile from the house and takes you directly downtown Portland with just one stop, for 5 bucks each way.
Of course, there is always Uber! Other Things to NoteCheck in is 5:15pm weekdays because we work, but 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. Checkout time is 11am.
