The SpaceSpacious, private bedroom in a green DC townhome gets plenty of sunlight, is fully furnished, and has a large closet. Up to 3 guests can be accommodated in the room, which has a queen bed and a daybed. There is a shared bathroom, located next to the bedroom. Unlike most of Washington, DC, I can offer ample and free parking, because I live in the most eastern point of DC. There are no restaurants in the area. Guests can metro 4 stops to the Eastern Market metro stop for Capitol Hill bars and restaurants. Guest AccessGuests have access to all common areas including living room, kitchen and dining area, shared home gym, and large fenced-in yard. A washer and dryer are also available for guest use. (Work area is not available for use.) Common living area has wi-fi, TV, Sling TV, and other Roku streaming channels. Bathroom cleaning and a light breakfast (i.e. yogurt, cereal, bars, and juice) are included with your stay. Interaction with GuestsI do live in the space and often telework. If I am not available to meet you, I will leave the keys in a lockbox. I’m happy to interact with guests as little or as much as they want/need and to give recommendations for dining, sightseeing, shopping, etc. Please note that I rent two private bedrooms on AirBnb so at times you may be in the house with other AirBnb guests. The NeighborhoodI live in a new community development located in a gentrifying neighborhood East of the Anacostia river. My neighbors and I live in a close knit suburban community in Washington, D.C. We do not live in the middle of restaurants or bars. In fact, there are no restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. But because we are in the most eastern point of DC, there is ample and free parking. Additionally, guests can quickly access Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian, RFK, and FedEx Field via metro or car to satisfy dining or grocery needs. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the metro. At night, many guests prefer grabbing an Uber or Lyft back to the house and can save ride-sharing costs by grabbing a car in the Capitol Hill area when returning to my house. If you're looking to be within walking distance to a bar scene, a club, or a venue in Northwest D.C., then you would likely prefer booking elsewhere. But if you're looking to park you and your car at an affordable stay in a quiet D.C. neighborhood close to Capitol Hill, then my place is for for you. Getting AroundThe metro is just steps away. Other suggested modes of transportation include Lyft, Uber, and Car2Go. You can also get great deals ($25 - 35) on daily car rentals at Reagan National Airport via sites such as Travelocity, Priceline, or the Costco rental program. The SpaceThis basement is great for traveling professionals, individuals, vacationing families or couples seeking respite in a quiet, comfortable clean home while visiting DC. You're renting one of the 2 basement bedrooms. WI-FI is great-- Verizon FiOS which I've never had issues with. When you enter the basement, you'll see a big common living space with a pull out couch and a kitchen corner with a sink and a full size refrigerator. There's also a microwave available for you to use. The other bedroom in the basement is a second Airbnb listing. Depending on whether someone else is staying, you may be sharing the (clean!) bathroom with him/her/them. As for your room: Your room is great--comfortable double bed, plenty of lighting in the room as well as from the outside (it's SW facing) and has 2 windows. There's a TV with a DVD player built in along with a set top box for FiOS cable TV. The bedroom's greatest feature is the enormous closet so if you come with a lot of luggage, this is the place for you! If you get cold, there is a space heater. If you get hot, there is a fan. I also have a Nest thermostat installed in the house (it's upstairs) so I am able to adjust the temperature in the house even if I am not there. I like my guests to be comfortable but I'm also an environmentalist so I generally will not ever have the house cooled below 73 or heated above 73. Please keep these in mind when you're booking. If you are very picky about the temperature and/or want complete control of the climate in your room, this is not the ideal place for you. I hope you find the space to your liking (I have a feeling you will!) and if you need anything, I'm only a text, shout, or call away. Guest AccessYou have access to pretty much the entire house except for the other bedrooms you have not reserved. There is a living room with a gas log fireplace upstairs, a beautiful granite counter top kitchen with great appliances, dining room, sun room, piano to play upstairs and cats running around the house. Down stairs, there's the kitchen corner, common room and bathroom at your disposal. This is my house and I host a high volume of travelers so I have pretty much any amenity you would need. You might have to ask for it, but I'm happy to help. For example, hair drier, phone chargers, tooth brushes, iron and ironing board, books and board games are available. Let me know how I can make your stay more comfortable. Thanks! Interaction with GuestsI live upstairs but the basement is pretty well sectioned off. If you want to chat or get recommendations for what to do in the area, come on up! If not, I will assume you want your privacy. I am also happy to offer rides to and from the metro when I'm available. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is not hustling and bustling. I live in a residential area on the Maryland side of the DC border. Some guests have described the neighborhood as "shady" or "sketchy". There are many liquor stores in the vicinity of my house and places to get food are mostly carry out or fastfood places. I do not recommend walking around my neighborhood after dark. My street is very quiet and I know all my neighbors. Nothing unsafe has ever happened to me or my guests but it is not one of the nicer neighborhoods in DC. The advantage to staying here is that there is free on street parking, my house is very close to downtown DC (even closer than many parts of DC even though it's technically in Maryland), my house is comfortable and the price is hard to beat. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK if you are using public transportation and expect to be downtown within 10 minutes. To get to downtown from my house, you will need to take a 7-min bus ride and then a metro. The route is simple and easy but it takes time. If you are coming and going during the night and don't have your own car, I would suggest taking a Lyft (and if there are only 1 or 2 of you, a Lyft line will save you a lot of money). If you want to walk outside and have a strip of bars and clubs to go to, THIS IS NOT AN IDEAL LOCATION FOR YOU. The H st corridor is about a 10 min drive away. Downtown DC is less than a 30 min drive away. Getting AroundI wouldn't recommend walking to the metro because it will be a LONG walk. (1.5 miles, to be exact) If you are using public transportation, take the bus to the metro. It's an easy 7 min bus ride. The bus (W4) runs at least every 30 minutes during normal bus hours and more during rush hour. The bus ride is $1.75. Other Things to NoteI speak conversational Spanish, Italian and Thai. If you are more comfortable communicating in those languages, I am happy to oblige. :) My house has an electric vehicle charger! If you need a place to charge your car that won't charge YOU, my house is a great choice! I have 2 house cats who are pretty active and sometimes get loud in the morning when they are waiting for me to feed them. If you think you will be bothered by rumbling across the floor from the ceiling above you this is not the place for you. Check in is 6PM and check out is 11am. If your arrivale will be outside of these hours, simply message me. I'm very flexible and there is a lockbox so that you can get in even if I am not there. You're always welcome to come drop your stuff off even if I haven't had a chance to prepare the room for your stay after the previous guests left. If you have any questions or needs, don't hesitate to message me; I'll respond promptly. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into my home!

The SpaceWelcome to my home where you will experience warmth and exuberance from my daughter and myself. I am extremely family-oriented so expect to see and enjoy lots of family photos in the common areas. However, I did my best to make the individual rooms as neutral and guest-friendly by substituting family photos with scenic ones in certain areas. The SpaceThis is a cute cottage house. Great if staying for DC on your own or coming to visit as a family. Comfortably fits 4-6 for sleeping, but could be a bit cramped for any more than this if staying for the day as the cottage is about 500 square feet. Comes with Free WiFi as well as a Nintendo Wii so that you can play video games or watch some Netflix! Just choose cottage house when watching videos. In addition, there is a Roku device where you can stream TV and videos of your choice while you are visiting as well. This works similarly to cable, but you will need to choose the channels instead of flipping through channels. It is pretty easy to figure out; otherwise, I'm happy to come over and show you! Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire cottage house as well as the back yard. Great space if you want to host a small party outside. I will pretty much let you keep to yourselves so you can enjoy your vacation experience! Interaction with GuestsIf you want to meet me, please let me know; otherwise I will most likely just communicate with you through messages and leave you be to enjoy your stay! The NeighborhoodI love that it is quiet but only a couple of miles from malls, shopping, and food. I also tend to be in suburbia, but have good and inviting neighbors. There are also lots of trees in the area; as such, if you arrive late, some bugs may fly into the house as your are unpacking from the porch light. I love the neighborhood that I am in. My boyfriend and I often walk around the neighborhood and have no issues with anyone. My only dislike about the neighborhood is that a lot of the small side streets do not have sidewalks. Thus we tend to walk the main streets so we don't have to walk in the road. Getting AroundThere is a bus a couple of blocks from the house which will take you to the metro to D.C. or to shopping and food. If you prefer to walk, I am just under a mile from the closest subway station that will take you in and out of D.C. - that's just shy of a 20 minute walk. Uber is also a great resource to use in this area! The bus and subway in the area work under (URL HIDDEN) You will need to buy some SmartTrip cards at a station or other location (provided in the welcome packet) if you want to use public transportation. Directions from the Dulles International Airport to the house: I would recommend taking an Uber. I do not live that closely to Dulles airport. It is about an hour drive from the Dulles airport to the cottage house. If you would prefer to take public transportation (the cheaper option), I am providing directions from (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN): Take bus 5A at curb 2E to Lenfant Plaza. You will then take the subway (green line) towards Branch Ave. Get off at the Suitland Ave. Station. Go to Bay J and take the P12 bus for 4 stops. You will need to pull the bus cord when you see Suitland Road (There will be a gas station on the right side). You will then walk towards the McDonalds. Cross the street and walk down Porter Ave. to Lacy Ave (3 blocks). Finally, I'm a few houses down on Lacy Ave. To take public transportation takes about 2 hours in total. Directions from Reagan National Airport to the house: It takes approxiately 30 minutes using an Uber or taxi. If using public transportation, start by taking the train. Take the yellow line towards Mount Vernon square. Get off at Lenfant Plaza Station and transfer to the green line towards Branch Ave. Public transportation takes approximately an hour. Directions from the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to the house: I would recommend taking an Uber. I do not live that closely to the BWI airport. It is about an hour drive from the BWI airport to the cottage house. If you would prefer to take public transportation (the cheaper option), I am providing directions from (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN): Take bus B30 at airport stop 1 to the Greenbelt Metro. Other Things to NoteOnce you book your reservation, I will provide you with a 6 digit code which will allow you access into the house. This is an older style house. As such, you will notice it has a rustic feel about it; please do not rent from me if you are expecting a 5-star hotel feel. Most of the house has been freshly painted. We also just had central air/heat installed in June. The bathtub is a claw foot tub, which was refinished in November. We are also in the process of installing some Murphy beds as well as more folding counters. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, email/text me as soon as you arrive to the house so that I can do my best to fix them. Nothing irritates me more than when someone leaves a negative review but did not contact me about it before they left. I cannot try to fix a problem I do not know about!

The SpaceYou will be renting 1 bedroom on the main level of a town house. The bedroom features a queen size bed and a minimalist feel--the room is bright during the day due to being south-facing and the neighborhood is generally very quiet--a great atmosphere to relax and get away from the hubbub of downtown DC. The main level has 1 other bedroom, a bathroom, dining room, kitchen, sun room, and living room. There is also a front porch which is great for relaxing at during the weekends and evenings. The living room features a projector which you can use to stream movies or watch some TV. Guest AccessYou'll have access to all of the living space in the upstairs. I may or may not be home and my sister is also staying with me for a short term. We are the only 2 people living in the house other than Airbnb guests. The bathroom is shared with me upstairs. Interaction with GuestsI'm available if you'd like to chat. If you'd like your privacy, that's also fine with me. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is not hustling and bustling. Getting AroundI recommend that people who stay with me either: 1) have their own car 2) are comfortable navigating a big city transportation system or 3) plan to use Uber and/or Lyft to come and go I'm happy to give rides to and from big transfer points if I'm available for the initial arrival or final departure. Other Things to NoteMy house has an electric vehicle charger! If you need a place to charge your car that won't charge YOU, my house is a great choice! I have 2 house cats who are pretty active. For the summer of 2016, there is also a resident dog I'm helping to take care of for my sister. If you think you will be bothered by the animals, this is not an ideal booking for you. As such, it will have a rustic feel to it; if you are looking for a fancy 5-star hotel feel this is not the place for you! Free street and driveway parking; great access to public transportation. House is on a calm street; private, clean & spacious. There is a large back yard if you enjoy being outside. You may find the occasional June bug this time of year from the trees! Comfortably fits 4-6 for sleeping, but could be a bit cramped for 6 if staying for the day as the cottage is about 500 square feet. This is a wonderful little place if you are looking to get out of the city to have a place to yourself or if you are hoping to visit Washington, D.C. and want somewhere affordable so you can spend your money where you really want to - on your vacation!

The SpaceThis adorable and charming 4-bedroom house is entirely yours for the renting! Two bedrooms on the main floor, a large bedroom on the second floor, and basement make up the sleeping areas. Between them, we have two queen beds, a full bed, and a full-size futon. There is a large open living room with a cable TV (with Prefered HD FIOS channels) and stocked with a small library and collection of board games, plus another TV downstairs in the basement room. We provide free wi-fi, guidebooks and a map for while you're in the city. Laundry machines are also located in the basement, with detergent and dryer sheets provided. If you like to cook, there is a fully-stocked kitchen with a gas stove and oven, and of course a coffee maker. The ample backyard is totally fenced in and perfect for kids to run around or for you to just enjoy the fresh air. Brand new central air and heating units were just installed for most of the house, and independent space heaters and window units service the second floor bedroom so you can pick your own comfort level! Guest AccessYou'll have access to almost the whole house including laundry units, driveway, and back-yard. We keep one closet locked, which we use for storage. Interaction with GuestsWe try to greet each guest when they first come to our home. We live nearby and will be pretty accessible via Airbnb Messenger or phone for any issues, or if you simply want good recommendations for things to do in town. In addition, we know your time is valuable and you may have been traveling a long way to get here, so we offer a Grocery Pre-Stock Service. While we try to provide basic cooking ingredients like oil, flour, salt, etc., if you're interested in arriving to a fully-stocked kitchen, just send us a list of requests via Airbnb Messenger, at least 2 days before your arrival, and we'll do our best to make sure the kitchen is ready for you when you show up! We'll send you a copy of the receipt along with a payment request for the groceries, plus an extra 10% service charge, through Airbnb so that it can be charged easily and directly alongside your rental payment. Please keep in mind that any seasonal or specialty item requests are subject to availability and reasonableness -- milk, eggs, and hamburgers are doable, but paddlefish caviar or some obscure tropical fruit are probably not. Also please note that this offer is only available for the beginning of your stay -- for the rest of your food, you're on your own! The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood, like much of DC and the suburban areas, is a multicultural, diverse, up-and-coming, and friendly community. The neighbors are all social and happy to say hi! The house is practically across the street from the U.S. Census Bureau and down the road from the Smithsonian Museum Support Center, so if you're working on a short-term project there, our location is perfect for you! We are also just a moderate walk or a quick drive from a plethora of supermarkets, shopping centers, restaurants, and of course a 7-11. Of course, getting into downtown DC is just a 15 minute ride on the Metro and the drive is just as easy, but if you want to stay more local, the shops and entertainment of the National Harbor is quick to get to, as is the Nationals Baseball Stadium. If you want to stay out of the city, there are gorgeous parks and nature preserves where you can go hiking, and driving to Maryland's beaches takes less than 45 minutes! Getting AroundWe are located practically across the street from the Metro Green Line (Suitland Station) which goes right into the heart of Washington DC in 15-20 minutes, so all of our nation's capital is at your fingertips. You can also get on the I-495 Capital Beltway quite easily from the house, and we have our own private driveway available if you'd like to bring your car.
