We were so happy to have found you. With just a few updates, your basement would make a very lovely rental. My favorite bits included: the huge window, my walk to the metro through the lush apartment neighborhoods - where I spotted deer both in the mornings and evenings, the rock creek park running paths, Red Ginger <--- SO delicious, and within walking distance, and the antique stores just down the road. These incredible conveniences plus your warm hospitality and curious kids made this month really enjoyable. If you have a potential subletter, please have them call me or Dave any time. We'd be happy to convey all of those positive bits to him/her/them. Thank you, again, for everything. - Brie"

TRANSPORTATION: I'll be glad to provide you with transportation, my schedule permitting, including but not limited to airport travel, restaurants, or grocery store trips. I charge LESS THAN HALF of the AIRPORT TAXI FARES. (Cab to or from Dulles is $85.00 and to or from Reagan National taxi fare is $45.00--more during rush hour). My charge is $40 to or from IAD and $20 to or from DCA. I will be glad to take you to the many wonderful nearby grocery stores (including several health food stores) so you can shop for whatever foods and beverages you wish to have in stock. LAUNDRY: While you are here I do the laundry. I also do the dishes. (Necessitated by someone ruining my expensive washing machine after just one use so that I had to buy another.) All you have to do is wash out the tub after yourself. A CLEANING SERVICE charges me $50.00 to clean for 2 hours (their minimum) after each guest leaves.

Grosvenor Metro station is a 25 minute walk or 1.3 mile drive. Ride On bus stop #34 to either Grosvenor-Strathmore metro stop or Medical Center metro stop is a block away at the end of street (intersetion of Saul Rd. and Cedar Lane). We are approximately 8 miles from the White House and city center of Washington, D.C(URL HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundWe are located 8 miles from the White House and National Mall just off the capitol beltway, I-495 in the state of Maryland. FROM THE APT: Walk to the corner and hop on the Ride On bus stop #34, for a ten minute ride to Medical Center Metro Station (RED LINE). This bus stop is a block away from the apartment at the end of our street (intersetion of Saul Rd. and Cedar Lane). Additionally, Grosvenor Metro station is a 25 minute walk or 1.3 mile drive. GETTING TO THE APARTMENT: There are three major airports serving the Washington, DC metro area. We are approximately 8 miles from the White House/ city center of Washington, D.C. just outside the capitol beltway highway in Bethesda, Maryland. The most convenient in terms of ease of ground transportation is Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) because it is served directly by the Metro (elevated/subway train). From DCA allow 1-hour by Metro to get to the Medical Center station or Grosvenor station on the red line. Note: the Metro runs until about midnight most nights so if you arrive later for some reason you will have to take a cab or UBER to the apartment. This is usually not a problem because DCA doesn't allow flights to land after about 11:00pm. From Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to our house and the apartment on Roxbury Drive in Bethesda, Maryland: •Follow the M (Metro signs) in the airport to the Metro (Subway) station •Take the Yellow Line (toward Mt. Vernon Sq/Convention Center) and transfer to the Red line (toward Grosvernor or Shady Grove) at Gallery Place/Chinatown or, •Take the Blue Line (toward Largo Town Center) •Transfer to the Red Line (toward Grosvernor or Shady Grove) at Metro Center or Gallery Place/Chinatown •Exit the Red Line at the Medical Center station and take bus #34 to the apartment, get off at the stop located at the intersection of Cedar Lane at Saul Road. Walk west from bus stop down Saul Road to Roxbury Drive and our house. •You can stay on the Red Line one more stop and exit at Grosvenor/Strathmore Station which is also a place to catch bus #34 to the apartment at the stop located at the intersection of Cedar Lane at Saul Road. Walk west from bus stop down Saul Road to Roxbury Drive and our house. Another option is Dulles International Airport (IAD), located about 20-miles west of the apartment. Listed below are several options to get to the apartment. Allow at least 90-minutes for travel. •Washington Flyer Coach service to the West Falls Church Metro Stop (every 30 minutes) - take the Orange Line toward New Carrolton and transfer to the Red Line at Metro Center and follow the directions as listed for the Red Line from DCA. •Get the UBER or LYFT app. Fast, affordable car service •Super Shuttle (~$25 one way) - just tell the scheduler you are going to Roxbury Drive in Bethesda, Maryland. •Washington Flyer Taxi (~$50 one way) - the last resort due to the cost but if you arrive late at night it is ok to use it. Another nearby airport serving the DCA are is Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), located about 25-miles north of Bethesda and about 10-miles south of Baltimore with easy access to the apartment via UBER, Super Shuttle van, or rent your own car. It is also a hub for Southwest Airlines if you like to fly the budget approach. The options for getting from BWI to the apartment are: •(URL HIDDEN) Use the app for fast and affordable car service. $45 •Super Shuttle (~$35 one way) •Washington MTA bus (every 40 minutes) to the Greenbelt Metro stop - take the Green Line and transfer to the Red Line at Gallery Place/Chinatown, and follow the directions as listed for the Red Line from DCA. The whole trip would take about 1.5-2-hours depending on connections. •Airport Taxis (~$65 one way) - the last resort due to cost but if you come in late at night use UBER first, and if you cannot get UBER, then this. •Rent a Car, Get the WAZE app on your smart phone for GPS directions and up to the minute traffic info. Another option, especially along the Northeast Corridor, is Amtrak. Cost is about the same as flying, however.
