The SpaceThe eat in kitchen has been recently renovated with a deck over looking the backyard with Roses, Peach Trees, a Koi Pond, gas grill and a lot of PRIVACY even though we are only a block from Massachusetts Ave. We recently installed a whole house water filter -meaning all of the water you drink and wash and bath with is as PURE as the water you pay for in bottles! This was one of the of big home investments made this year. So you can feel good about drinking from the tap! And even better about taking a shower or bath! I love clean water! This place is - Super convenient, there is parking for up to two cars, the bus stops on the corner. You can take a 15 walk or take a short 5 minute car ride to Alewife Public transit and Fresh Pond shopping mall. It is a delightful and interesting neighborhood - Walk to just about everything you need, including a great local movie house, The Capital Theatre, the Maida drug store on the corner just a few feet away, Giles Fine wine & Liquor store just around the corner, several fine dining restaurants as well as the Arlington Diner, a local diner just across the street for casual meals, ZA pizza , a variety of ethnic restaurants, coffee shops, laundermat, dry cleaners, post office and several boutique shops and interesting children's workshop places. You name it and it is probably here! Even a great gluten free bakery. We are just down the road from Harvard Square - hop on the bus, just foot steps from your apartment and in minutes you are in Cambridge or Boston - so staying here is relaxing - with out the congestion of the city. Arlington is safe and relatively quiet. Bus #77 goes to Harvard Square(10-15 mins.) where you can connect with transit to Boston. Bus #79 takes you directly to Alewife Trainsit ( 5mins.) You can buy a train pass there. Trader Joe's in Arlington Heights and Whole Foods is now open in Arlington Center. Yeah! We used to own a B&B in Ogunquit, Maine and loved the experience. We are enjoying the experience of meeting wonderful people from around our beautiful planet! Peace, Prosperity and Pleasure, Daphne Guest AccessTo back yard and porch with chairs and tables. There is a barbeque grill outside of the apartment. Interaction with GuestsWe have our own private spaces - so - interaction is minimal. The NeighborhoodWalking to Spy Pond, bike path access, Capital Theatre, boutique shops, liquor store, post office, Arlington Library, parks for children, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and S&S markets, great bakeries, a variety of unique and wonderful restaurants within walking distance, Bus stop on the corner of our street, 5'mins. to the T Station. Dog paths and much more... Getting AroundYes, bus on the corner of our street to go shopping or Trader Joe's, restaurants, shops, boutiques, etc. in and around Arlington center or further west. Across the street , Mass. Ave bus #79 in front of Za's Restaurant, great pizza) there is a bus stop which takes you either to T Station or you can walk, approx. 5 mins. or #77 which goes to Harvard Square, Cambridge and you can go to the station from there to downtown Boston. Other Things to NoteThis is a quiet oasis away from the bustle of the city, but only minutes away from the Harvard Square, Davis Square, Charles River, the Minute Man trails and easy access to Boston and all the fun and adventure it holds.

The SpaceI live in a large, well-furnished home in Belmont, a leafy suburb that’s a 12-minute ride by bus or car to Harvard Square and a 20 minute ride to downtown Boston. My house is on a quiet residential street, but is within a 5-minute walk to the bus stop. There are several restaurants (including a top Italian one) and shops within easy walking distance—we even have what must be one of the last remaining “five and tens” in the United States, with just about everything you could possibly want, from greeting cards and fabrics to kitchen ware and toys! With three and a half bedrooms, two and a half baths, large living room, dining room, TV room, recently renovated eat-in kitchen, hardwood floors, cable TV, wi-fi, the house offers all the comforts of home. It is an ideal place if you want to explore Boston and the surrounding area, or want to spend time near family. I rent it when I am on vacation or on sabbatical--I am a professor of literature, and the house is full of books. In 2015 it is available during the summer, and again from mid-October to late November. In 2016, it will be available February 1-April 30, and again in June, July and August. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet, with nice houses and nice neighbors. But there are two shopping areas nearby, with restaurants as well as shops. Getting AroundVery convenient bus to Harvard Square, takes about 15 minutes.

There is a bus stop a block away which would take you to Harvard Square in 15 minutes. Buses run literally every 5 minutes. Getting AroundSee the comment above! The lower level is occupied by me, my 10 y.o. son and a Persian cat ( most people who are allergic to cats are NOT allergic to Persians and the cat can be contained to the lower level).

The SpaceMy location is fantastic to see events like The Boston Marathon, Boston's July 4th celebration, The Head of the Charles (rowing regatta), or First Night (New Year's Eve festivities in Boston)... Or for parents and siblings visiting students in one of Cambridge and Boston's many colleges and universities... (It's 10 minutes to Harvard or Tufts by car). I'm offering the use of two bedrooms, though I will also be at the house during your stay. The house is a 3-minute walk from the MBTA bus line which runs to Harvard Square in Cambridge (a 15-minute ride), and a 30-minute bus/subway ride into Boston. Or park your car in my private driveway (no parking cost) and you can drive into Cambridge and Boston within 10-15 minutes. My home is on a quiet, tree-lined street that is steps from a local park with newly-renovated, pubic tennis courts, and a 10-minute walk from the Fresh Pond Reservoir (great walking trails) and a public golf course. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The two bedrooms... The first has a king bed two night tables, a portable table to put a suitcase on, a closet to hang clothes, a chair, and a 27-inch TV. The second sleeps either one or two people in single beds. The bed is a trundle system where one single bed pulls out from under the other. See the options in the photos for how the room is configured with one bed versus two. The room has a bureau to put clothes in, a desk to work at or just to use to put your suitcase on, a comfortable chair to sit in, and space to hang clothes. Both rooms are the same size. You are welcome to use my workout room, which has a multi-weight machine, free weights, bench, arm curling station , stationary bicycle, stair master, TV and stereo. You will find my home very clean and well-kept up. Feel free to be messy in your room, but know that the rest of the house won't be a burden to you as far as any mess goes. Lastly, I have two cats. While I keep the house well-vacuumed, this may not be the space for you if you're allergic. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire home and outdoor spaces such as the back porch. Interaction with GuestsCertainly! I'm knowledgeable about the area and can advise on things to do in the area and how to get there. The NeighborhoodThis is an upscale, tree-lined, 2-family neighborhood that is beautiful and quiet, yet is near an MBTA bus stop, many shops and restaurants. Getting Around3 minute walk from #73 bus line (Harvard Square to Waverly Square). Plenty of parking in my driveway for up to 2 cars. Other Things to NoteAgain, I also live at the house and so you will be sharing it with me. You will find my home very clean and well-kept up. Feel free to be messy in your room, but know that the rest of the house won't be a burden to you as far as any mess goes. I have two cats. The SpaceLarge, comfortable house on the Cambridge/Belmont border comes with a soft, cuddly and almost always adorable cat named Caleb. Ideal for relaxing, there is a spacious living room, separate TV room (with 55" set), dining room and fenced in, landscaped back yard replete with hammock, dining table and lounge chair. The master bedroom is huge with a California king bed, six windows and a cathedral ceiling. It has its own spa bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. There is also a guest room with a queen bed and a fold-out couch in the TV room. (In the interest of full disclosure, the fold-out couch is not the most comfortable.) A second full bath is downstairs. The kitchen looks out on the garden and the many birds that come to visit the window feeders. Guest AccessGuests are renting and will have access to the entire house, backyard and driveway. (One car may remain parked in the driveway.) Interaction with GuestsI will usually be away during your stay, but will have a friend available to help you with any needs/emergency. The NeighborhoodHarvard Square is 2.6 miles from the house, (~10 minutes by car, 15 by bus) and the bus stop is steps away. You can also easily take public transportation from Harvard Square or Belmont Center or drive to downtown Boston (about 20 minutes). Fall is an ideal time to visit New England and you will be 15 to 20 minutes away from Walden Pond in Lincoln and the many historical sights in Concord. (Bring your bikes for some excellent riding either straight from the house or in Concord/Lincoln.) Numerous beaches, apple-picking and mountain-climbing are about an hour away. Belmont also has a number of nature preserves should you wish to take some local hikes. Fresh Pond, a local wooded reservoir, is a favorite exercise spot with a 3 mile loop from the house. Next to Fresh Pond (a 10 minute walk) is a 9-hole golf course. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance. Guests will be provided with a guidebook, including menus. Getting AroundThree buses to Harvard Square stop less than a block away from my house. From there, you can easily take public transportation into Boston via T or another bus. There is also a train from Belmont Center that goes into North Station. I will provide guests with a guide to my favorite free or low-cost parking spots.

The SpaceFully-renovated in a tasteful, understated, yet contemporary and stylish manner, this four-bedroom colonial salt-box, originally built in 1941, has retained all of the period charm you'd expect including cast iron radiators, arched passageways and crown molding. However, with updates to nearly everything else, you will feel pampered by the luxury of modern convenience and amenities. This bedroom, the largest of four, is equipped with a super comfy, Sealy Posturepedic, queen-size bed. A second, queen-size Aero- Bed is available upon request as well. The room occupies roughly half of the entire second floor and features three, full-size windows, large dresser and mirror, two nightstands, a closet and plenty of shelving space. A brand-new, Roku Ready flat screen LED, "Smart TV" is mounted on the wall facing the bed. This is your total entertainment source. HBO Go, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, NatGeo and many more channels including tons of music are available to you, for free. Other content, movies and music, including new releases are available to rent as well. Adjacent to the room is a beautifully remodeled, modern bathroom with contemporary fixtures, Greek marble tiles and a large, custom shower stall complete with heavy duty glass, sliding doors. My house, which I have owned and lived in for 13 years, is nestled in a cozy, little, family-oriented residential neighborhood in the suburbs, located just on the Waltham/Belmont town line. However, we are close enough to the city as well as nature. Waverley Square in Belmont, is just a mile away and offers access to public transportation including bus/trolly service (to Harvard Sq.) as well as the MBTA Commuter Rail. There is a grocery store, pharmacies, restaurants, various banks, gas stations, drycleaners, coffee shop, Wheelworks shop for bicycle afficionados, the Studio Cinema (one screen! one location!) and even a car wash. There are also a few parks and reservations all around me and in every direction. There are literally miles of trails for walking, hiking, biking, cross-county skiing, snowshoeing, bird watching and more in the Beaverbrook Reservation, Rock Meadow Conservation Area and Cedar Hill Reservation. Enjoy dense woods, bubbling brooks, hills, fields and various wildlife here as well. I've seen White Tail deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, rabbits and many more critters while walking on one of the many paths and trails that are literally less than a five minute walk from my door. Guest AccessIn addition to your private bedroom and adjacent bathroom, all guests have access to all shared/common areas of the house including the kitchen, living room, deck, hallways, backyard and basement for laundry or working out. There is an elliptical machine, Bowflex "select-a-size" weight set with bench and stand, an Ab bench and a multi-use pull-up/chin-up bar for use in the basement. Interaction with GuestsI know that when traveling, sometimes you crave a little human interaction in your day and sometimes you want a break from it all. It's your vacation or business trip and I want to make sure that you get to do what you want. I know that sometimes you will have questions about the place and/or the area during your stay. I want to accommodate your needs, so please tell me exactly how can be of assistance. I tend to be home often but it's also my tendency to try to respect my guests space and privacy. However, if there is sometihng you need or you have a question, you can ask me directly if I am in the house and in the common areas at the time. Or, you can always send me a text message regardless of where I am. I do my best to try to make sure you have everything you need at check-in but sometimes a guest will need more towels, directions or a restaurant recommendation. I am however, not always home nor am I always available. I do try to check my messages every few hours if I am not. I do run my own business and sometimes keep unusual hours but I will never be disruptive or inconsiderate of any guests. I always recommend Uber when it comes to any car/taxi service. They are by far the cheapest, fastest, cleanest and most reliable of any other cab company in the area. If you are not familiar with Uber, please note that they need to be contacted through their smartphone app, and you must have an account with them to use their service. If you do not have one, it's very easy to set up one up and it only takes a few minutes. They operate worldwide and it is well worthwhile to set up an account with them. One of the other perks of their service is that you do not have to worry about carrying cash or tipping. Gratuity is included automatically. Other Things to NoteSmoking is allowed outside only. From Airport / Downtown it's 30-40 minutes, $30-$50. - Most affordable is bus-train-taxi. From Airport take the SILVER line bus to SOUTH STATION. The SpaceFully-renovated in a tasteful, understated, yet contemporary and stylish manner, this four-bedroom colonial salt-box, originally built in 1941, has retained all of the period charm you'd expect including cast iron radiators, arched passageways and crown molding. However, with updates to nearly every area and component, you will feel pampered by the luxury of modern convenience and amenities. My house, which I have owned and lived in for 13 years, is nestled in a cozy little, family-oriented residential neighborhood in the suburbs, located just on the Waltham/Belmont town line. Guest AccessIn addition to your private bedroom and adjacent bathroom, all guests have access to all shared/common areas of the house including the fully-functional (and well-stocked) kitchen, living room, deck, hallways, backyard and basement for laundry or working out. There is an elliptical machine, Bowflex "select-a-size" weight set with bench and stand, an Ab bench and a multi-use pull-up/chin-up bar for use in the basement. The pull-up bar can be used in almost any door frame. Interaction with GuestsI know that when traveling, sometimes you crave a little human interaction in your day and sometimes you want a break from it all. It's your vacation or business trip and I want to make sure that you get to do what you want. I know that sometimes you will have questions about the place and/or the area during your stay. I want to accommodate your needs, so please tell me exactly how I can be of assistance. I tend to be home often but it's also my tendency to try to respect my guests space and privacy. However, if there is something you need or you have a question, you can ask me directly if I am in the house and in the common areas at the time. Other Things to NoteSmoking is allowed outside only. There is a nice big deck with a teak patio set and umbrella to sit at during the warmer months. During the winter, I have two chairs and a little table where guests can sit and have a smoke as well. While I don't have a pet right now, I love animals and they are welcome under certain conditions pending my approval. Just describe your pet to me including breed, size, behavior and anything else I should know. *Please note that the cleaning fee could go up depending on the type of pet.
