The SpaceYou get a private, ground level, 2BR "mother-in-law" apartment in our split ranch home. We live upstairs. Our keypad entrance enables you to check in without our assistance (although we make every effort to greet you).
Each bedroom has it's own 40" flat screen TV, high quality bed with 4 pillows, 2 comforters, dresser and closet space. We also provide individual heaters to control your comfort. The living room contains an electric fireplace, bar with 6 comfy stools, billiards, dart board and a leather couch with two end recliners. Note: There is no kitchen, but we do provide a high quality toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker and mini fridge.
We're right off 495 and Rt 3 and great for business folks, singles or couples -- we accommodate 4 adults comfortably and welcome families, but must point out that we are not child proofed. We love animals and in some cases we will accept pets (we do have 3 indoor/outdoor cats so we must consider them first). The fee for pets is $25 per day. Children are considered guests so please add them when calculating your costs.
Games/entertainment: We have scrabble, cards, colored pencils, crayons, an adult coloring book (but kids can sure use it) and various games such as pool, darts, hoola hoops, tennis rackets, bocci ball, bean bag toss and others.
Each TV can be watched with the help of technology: One is equipped with Chromecast and the other with Amazon Fire. We do not have cable access to these TVs but anything you can get on your laptop, tablet or smart phone can be watched on Chromecast. And if you don't have one, watch one of the many TV or Movies available on Amazon Fire.
You have a choice between a Tempur Pedic (blue room) and a foam latex bed with a memory foam topper (tan room).
The bar doubles as a kitchen counter and a work space with comfortable cushioned bar stools. There is a 4 outlet plug bar-height so you can easily plug in all of your devices and high-speed wireless internet.
Cook or heat up your leftovers using the toaster oven or microwave or just enjoy the complimentary popcorn. The mini fridge will accommodate modest groceries and is stocked with soda water to welcome you home.
Right outside our french door is a large and beautiful patio and garden. Lay in our hammocks or sit on our glider while watching the birds and small critters in our garden. If you prefer to be active, we have an acre of land and can provide bean bag toss, bocce ball and various lawn games.
Since we live on a dead end street there is tons of privacy and plenty of parking on the street (we park in the driveway). Our neighborhood is one of the older North Chelmsford spots -- many of our neighbors have been here for decades, but we also have several who have moved in to raise their families.
We stock the space with dishes, silverware (your choice of proper or plastic/paper) coffee cups and glasses. In the bathroom, you'll find regular, dandruff and non-toxic shampoos and conditioners; bath, hand and wash towels; a hair dryer, Q-tips and single use dental floss. You can iron or steam your clothes to get ready for your day. It is unlikely you'll need to run out to get something you've forgotten but if you do, check with us -- we likely have it upstairs!
You have access to the laundry room in your space as well. The washer automatically fills only up to where your clothes are so it's no problem to do a small load.
We are excited to share our home with you and hope you enjoy! Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire downstairs and the patio, garden and lawn. We will only access the lawn area for maintenance purposes if necessary (we typically take care of this when we do not have guests). If you plan to stay for more than 3 days, we may need to agree on a day/time for us to do our laundry since it's in your space. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the home, upstairs, but the acoustics are good and we are quiet anyway so you won't hear us. We are an easy going, friendly couple and enjoy traveling and meeting new people, especially when we can learn about a new culture. Collectively, we've travelled to Mexico, Jamaica, Honduras, Tanzania, Ireland, England and a handful of places in the US.
While we enjoy being social, we are pretty laid back and we are content to spend a lot of downtime relaxing at our home. Having travelled for years on business, I (Suzanne) personally know how important alone time is to recoup. You will have peace and quiet and won't see us unless you need something. And if you do, we're right upstairs. Just call us or knock on our door. The NeighborhoodWe are so close to everything yet, tucked away in a private neighborhood -- you'd never know!
-- You can walk or drive 1 mile to shop at Walmart, the grocery store, Five Guys, Moes, Applebee's and much more.
-- UMass Lowell is less than 3 miles away.
-- CrossPoint Office Park
-- Burlington and Billerica Office Parks
-- The Lowell Boathouse on the Merrimack River is less than 2 miles away (you can walk, run, skate along it or even rent kayaks and SUPs during the summer!)
-- Boston/Cambridge is a 30 mile drive or you can take the commuter rail.
-- NH Mine Falls Park is only 15 miles north.
-- The Pheasant Lane mall and lots of shopping and restaurants is available only 7 miles north.
Let us know what you want to do and we'll give you pointers. Getting AroundYou can walk to most necessities listed above but will enjoy your time most if you rent a car. 495 and RT3 are less than a mile away.
However, you can take public transportation if you like. The public bus system picks you up at Walmart (10 minute walk).
If you want to head into Boston but don't want to drive, park at the Lowell or the Billerica commuter stops and take the rail in -- from Lowell, it's a 40 minute commuter rail ride to North Station and I can attest it's comfortable. But again, each way will be 90 minutes this way so I highly recommend a car. Other Things to NoteWe don't have children, but do have 3 cats. In fact, we are animal lovers.
Our cats are allowed outside so you may see them on the patio area. Feel free to pet them if you can (the tuxedo cat LOVES people, the white one plays hard to get, the brown one will run away). In fact, if you're cat lovers, you can let them in to hang out with you until they cry to get out.
If allergic, please use your own judgement as we can't guarantee a dander free space. We are set up so it's unlikely to be a problem as dander doesn't stick to hardwood floors or leather furniture. Plus, wash and vacuum before/after every guest.
