* after guests very kindly made us aware that our wi-fi was not adequately covering the whole apartment space, we resolved the issue by adding an extender. When you book you will then have access to your network name and password. Guest AccessYou'll have full use of the in-law apartment downstairs. It's YOUR home for the duration of your stay. Get to your private entrance by walking along the path in front of the property-just follow the slate stones to the left of the front door to the house. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available to greet the majority of our guests, just to say a quick hello, give you a brief orientation to your space, and answer any questions you might have. If we aren't available we will make other arrangements with you beforehand. We will provide you with our cell phone numbers so you can text us with any questions if we aren't on the property. We will completely respect your privacy, and won't be knocking at your door while you stay here. We do encourage you to please knock on our front door as often as you need with questions, for advice, or any other needs we might be able to assist you with ! It's our pleasure, we love it here and want you to love it too. :) The NeighborhoodMorning birds singing guaranteed, peaceful surroundings, always cooler than the rest of the community on hot summer days in "The Cove", direct walking and biking outlet via Salem Path which runs along the front of our property leading to a gorgeous coastal walk or bike ride along Shore Road with the ocean on your left (just keep bearing left after exiting the property via Salem Path, and take the dirt road), pier jumping off of the locally renowned "Magnolia Pier" at high tide, complete with a large float you can swim to if you survive-(it's NOT for the faint of heart or just for kids only), sailboats drifting by in the distance, take a walk up the path found at the far side of Magnolia Beach up to "The Great Lawn" at Coolidge Reservation ( go left at the end of that path), or along Clarke Pond (turn right at the end of that path). "Norman's Woe" from the famous Longfellow poem "The Wreck of the Hesperus" is just up the street. A 5 minute walk from your apartment is the entry to the wooded path leading to beautiful Rafe's Chasm (exit the cove onto Hesperus, turn right and you'll see it marked on the right) where you can fish or just climb around and explore the cliffs and the pristine active tide pools. For the young, extremely agile and adventurous you can persist with climbing over the precarious coastal rocks to actually see the chasm itself. (climb left and be careful) If you look to the right at the end of the wooded path, you will get a full view of Strawberry Cove. Even if you don't see the chasm, it's worth a walk down there. Great place to read , get some sun, and just enjoy the majesty of the ocean! Or watch local fishermen cast off! One half mile up the street is Hammond Medieval Castle, which gives tours. Stage Fort Park, on the ocean, reachable by bike or car (or a 2.2 mile walk) is nearby , you will pass it when you head into the heart of this maritime community...make sure to find their tiny crescent "half moon" beach (hint:it's tucked in and down, after a BIG rock) which looks like a staged movie set, have an ice cream, a burger, fried clams, a hot dog or barbecued chicken at "The Cupboard" opened ONLY in summer months. If you get that far, walk down to the Boulevard and over the Cut Bridge to see the Fisherman's Memorial, a famous landmark. Gloucester is the oldest seaport in the country! Getting AroundThere is a Gloucester Harbor Water Shuttle available if you would like to get out and about on the water...some folks like to bring their bikes...or rent one from Gloucester Bike Rental on Rogers Street. Other Things to NoteWe own a 5 year old mellow and quiet black female lab named ANNA who ALWAYS stays with us in our part of the home, does not roam the property freely, and is about the sweetest canine you would ever meet. She never is allowed in the apartment even when there are no guests. You MIGHT hear her bark once or twice when she hears you drive up...she's just letting us know you are here. After that, she's not a barker. You will meet her only if you insist!
Also, the ocean can't be viewed from the perspective of your apartment, only from the second and third floors of the property.
