The SpaceWe have 1 full-size futon that sleeps 2. Our house is eco-friendly. It has solar panels, radiant heating, and a convection stove. There is central heating/cooling but our house hardly uses any energy because it is so efficient. We also have a backyard and really friendly neighbors. Please let me know if you will be bringing a car so I can lend you a parking permit for your stay. You will need a permit to park on the street (except Sundays). Guest AccessFull access to the common living spaces, bathroom, kitchen, wireless internet, backyard, laundry in the basement. We have a Keurig for coffee in the morning too! Think of this as your home away from home (only we make the beds and supply towels). The drawer under the microwave has coffee and tea that you are welcome to have. I supply towels for showers as well as shampoo/soap. Please do not use the items already in the shower- those belong to my roommate. Interaction with GuestsAs much interaction as our guests want! We can give recommendations of cool places to check out or they can join if they'd like! If you let us know what type of wine/food you like, we can have it waiting for you... You can come and go as you please through the front door. We do not use the deadbolt- just the code on the front door. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is nice and quiet but has easy access to downtown. The neighbors are really friendly too! We are located about a 5-10 minute walk from Tufts, depending on where you're going on campus. Getting AroundThe 101 bus takes you right to Sullivan Station which is on the orange line. Or you can walk about 20 minutes to Davis Square where you can pick up the red line. If you would like a ride to/from the airport, let me know what time(s) and I may be able to give you a ride. I charge $25/one trip or $40/two trips. A cab would be about $30 from the airport to my house (about 20 min drive). Other Things to NoteA note for anyone who is allergic to dogs: both me and my roommate each have a dog. Anya is about 45 lbs and mellow, Fenway is a 7 lb spunky Yorkie. When you first meet Fenway, please do not go to pet him or make eye contact. He was abused and my roommate rescued him. He does not bite but does bark at strangers. He will calm down after a few minutes of barking. My apologies about him! The trash can in the kitchen is located directly under the sink. The recycling can is located in a cabinet between the stove top and sink. The stove top is induction- meaning you have to use our special pots and pans that have magnetized layers on the bottom. I am glad to show you how to use the stove top/oven if you plan on cooking at all.

Interaction with GuestsI enjoy having guests and learning about their culture(s) and countries, but I also respect their privacy (if they seem to need it). If it works out that we share a meal or even just a cup of tea, then great; but extensive interaction is never required. I travel periodically, but generally I am here when guests stay in my home. The Neighborhood-- Quiet -- Safe -- Mostly single-family owner occupied homes -- Plenty of free on-street parking (no permits required). -- Short walk to the Middlesex Fells reservation (forest) for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, swimming and snowshoeing. -- Nearby zoo, parks and playgrounds Getting Around-- 10 minute drive into downtown Boston and the AIRPORT. -- Trip into Boston by public transit takes approximately 40 minutes. -- TAXI or Uber ride from the airport takes approximately 10 minutes. The SpaceThis is a private room and bathroom off to the side of the house to create a bit more privacy. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom and is private for air bnb guests. The room has a double bed, desk, TV, mini fridge, bureau and closet. There is a cot in the closet of the bedroom to accommodate a 3rd person or child. Private full bath next to the room with hair dryer (iron and ironing board are in laundry closet in kitchen). Our house has a backyard with a deck & an indoor front screened in porch! We are about 10-20 minutes to the city by car (depending on traffic, high traffic times will take longer) and close to public transportation & hiking trails across the street. There is also a lake with a beach across the street (access with pass during summer months - just ask, we have the pass!!) We are near Tufts University, Stone Zoo and kayak rentals also. We are right near highway 93 for easy access to the city. Public transportation: near us there are 2 running bus lines - the 99 and 100 - that will connect you to the subway (MBTA). To get into the city by bus and train takes about 45 mins to an hour. The buses come about every 20-40 minutes so follow the schedule (to avoid waiting) that we have posted in the room or look online also. Guest AccessGuests have access to their comfortable private bedroom with wifi and cable TV, private full bathroom, backyard with deck and patio furniture and the fully equipped kitchen - coffee, tea... and front screened in porch. We like to keep our living room as a private space for our family, but the guests are welcome to walk through to access the rest of the first floor living space. We have a piano next to the guest room since my son takes lessons - feel free to play it if you like. There is also a love seat in the piano room if you want to stretch out. Free on street parking for one car in front of the house. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy meeting new people and are happy to greet the guests and answer any questions they may have or give suggestions of places to go. We've lived in the Boston area for over a decade so know it pretty well. We are pretty busy with different activities and work and like to relax when we are home. We are willing to talk and chat as little or as much as you'd like. Some work nights when we're tired we'll retreat to our rooms upstairs to relax. Our puppy dog loves to greet people ... she tends to jump up so she can get up to you and say hi, if you don't want her to jump, just firmly tell her to get down. She is extremely friendly. The NeighborhoodMedford, MA - a suburb of Boston. Fun fact: "Jingle Bells" was written by Medford [Massachusetts] resident James Pierpont in 1850, inspired by the annual one-horse open-sleigh races on Salem and Pleasant Streets between Medford Square and Malden Square. Medford is kind of like country living near the city - we are close to Tufts University, Medford Square, Stone Zoo, Malden Center and Davis Square with nice restaurants that are open late, and Boston, yet our home is set in a Boston suburb in a quiet neighborhood with 2,575 acres of forest across the street - ¨The Fells¨ - with hiking trails and access to a lake with a beach in the summer (accessible with a pass during the summer months - we have the pass, just ask). Kayak & canoe rentals on Mystic Lakes near Stone Zoo. We are close to the city, but off the beaten path. By car, get on 93 and access the city in about 10-20 minutes depending on traffic. 93 is right near us. If you don't have a car, we recommend Uber or public transportation. There are 2 buses that run near our home - the 99 and 100. The 99 comes about every 40 minutes so please follow the schedule to avoid long wait times. This bus will take you to Malden Center to the Orange line on the subway which gives easy access to the city. Bus to train to city - about 45 minutes. Some of our favorite local restaurants in Medford are Blue Fuji, Sei Bar, Tom Yum Kung, Salvatore's, Pastalina's, Tenoch and El Potro (El Potro is on Medford/Malden line on Highland Ave very close-by), breakfast in Medford - Dempsey's, Mystic Coffee Roaster and Jim's Market has some breakfast sandwiches; Malden Center - Hugh O'Neil's, All Seasons, Exchange Street Bistro; Somerville - Assembly Row with many restaurants and outlet shopping on the river, for breakfast - Sound Bites, Renee's & Neighborhood Restaurant; Davis Square with an old movie theater and restaurants. Getting AroundPublic bus #99 and #100 are about a block or two away, which will bring you to the T orange line at Wellington or Malden stations. We are right off highway 93 and very close to Medford Square and Tufts University. Stone Zoo about a mile away! If you have a car, we have free on street parking right in front of our house. Some guests have used Uber and the bus/train. Please follow the bus schedules so you don't have to wait for the bus for long. The schedules are posted in the room and also online. We are not right in the city, but access to the city is quite easy and close. Other Things to NoteMy son practices piano every day (well he is supposed to) in the early evening hours. If you ask him he might play a tune for you! He is also at the age that he loves to have sleepovers, so he sometimes sleeps over friends' houses and other times his friends will stay with us. They mostly play upstairs in his room so they won't be in the way!

The Space(Note: Our house is across from the commuter rail tracks. Most guests find this charming, but we also provide earplugs and a white noise machine if you don't.) This serene and peaceful suite is perfect for a couple, or parents and child. It features its own private bathroom with jacuzzi tub. A queen-sized bed sits in the main area, and there's a twin bed in the cute and cozy sleeping nook. A dining set, closet with hangers, bookshelves, mini-fridge, and dresser are all yours as well. The first floor of the house is shared with your hosts. We do not have any other guest rooms. Although the train tracks are across the street, our road is quiet, with little traffic. Guest AccessThe entire first floor is shared with the hosts. It includes a recently renovated eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room with 50-inch TV/DVD (with Netflix and Amazon Prime; basic cable), half bath, and backyard with patio and garden. Guests can use the washer and dryer in the basement (ask first). Interaction with GuestsOur favorite guests are the ones who smile, say hello, and want to chat a little. But we are all pretty busy, too, so mostly we do our own thing. Once in a while, a board game or DVD can be fun! The NeighborhoodWest Medford is quiet and pretty, not a lot going on. Lots of families. Neighbors are friendly to one another. We are a 5-minute walk from West Medford Center, which has Dunkin' Donuts (of course), a bakery, Rite Aid pharmacy, post office, tailor/drycleaner, restaurants, an ice cream shop, and several churches. No pubs/bars or coffeeshops, though. About a 10-minute walk away is a Whole Foods supermarket. Tufts University is a 5-minute bus ride away or a 15 to 20-minute walk. The Mystic River is very close by, and there is a lovely path for walking/jogging. Getting AroundIf schedules permit, we can pick you up or drop you off at Logan Airport for an additional $25 (taxis charge $40+). We can also pick up at Davis Square for $15, which is handy at night and weekends when the buses are infrequent. We are *not* within walking distance of the T (subway). It's a 5-minute walk to the West Medford Commuter Rail station and 10 min. ride to downtown Boston's North Station, where you can get on the green and orange lines of the T. We are also on several bus lines; the #94 bus gets you to the Davis Square T in about 15 minutes. We're also on the 80 and 95 bus lines. We border Arlington, Winchester, and Somerville, and are about a 20-to-30-minute drive to downtown Boston (at least, when there's minimal traffic). If you drive here, you can park on the street. There are generally plenty of spaces available, and we have two overnight guest permits. Other Things to NoteReservations are only accepted from the person who will be staying here. Everyone who stays here must read English well enough to understand the house rules. We prefer that guests check in between noon and 9 PM, and check out before noon. But if you need a different time, ask, and we'll see if we can accommodate you. Self-serve breakfast is included. We have all the usual basics: Eggs, bagels, fruit, cereal, yogurt, milk. Ask for coffee the night before, and I can set it to brew for whatever time you like! We don't use any air fresheners (except natural ones as needed in the bathrooms), and do all our laundry with free/clear detergent. Jasper the orange cat is friendly, but will scratch if he feels uncomfortable. If you are not familiar with cat body language, it's best not to pet him. If you don't want the cats in your suite, just keep the door latched. I can also keep them out between the last guest and your arrival, if you're concerned about allergens.

The SpaceOwner occupied contemporary condo with small clean room for one (queen bed). Shared bathroom bright, modern kitchen with light Walking distance to nice town center with a variety of American and ethnic restaurants and a nice coffee shop. Kitchen privileges. Laundry available in unit between 7 am and 10 pm. Please consider my location carefully before booking. Although I am close to downtown Boston and Cambridge, I do not live in easy walking distance of train, and this is not a tourist-oriented neighborhood. There are buses to the orange and red line trains, but they do not run often in the evening and weekends, so if you are relying solely on public transportation, you have to plan very carefully. See "Getting Around" for more specifics on transportation. I have a somewhat flexible schedule, but we'll need to coordinate beforehand regarding arrival times, especially Monday - Friday. Guest AccessYour bedroom, Bathroom, kitchen, laundry, living room. Ample storage available in basement. Interaction with GuestsFriendly and am available to chat if I am home. The NeighborhoodQuiet. Apartment does overlook the highway, so there is some noise from there. Easy and plentiful parking. First-come, first-served visitor spots available in condo's parking lot. Otherwise, permit-free street parking is available right outside the building. It is never a problem to park. Getting Around****Note that this is not a tourist-oriented neighborhood. It is NOT in easy walking distance of a train (about a 40 minute walk) and none of the busses that service this area run frequently in the evenings or weekends. It is close to Boston (there is a very handy and quick express bus that runs directly to and from downtown, but only during rush hours), and some people without cars have been happy to take taxis or ride-sharing services from the train stations or downtown, as it is not very expensive to do so. However, if you are not one of those people, be aware that you would need to plan your transportation needs carefully and/or be prepared for long bus waits. If you are planning to come to town to attend a particular venue, feel free to contact me before booking for my opinion on how long it will take you to get there and back. I live within a few minute's walk of City Hall in Medford, MA. You can also look at the website for the MBTA for an interactive trip planner to give you an idea of how you are you can get to and from where you need to go. *** Direct bus access to Boston during rush hours, otherwise a bus ride (101 or 134 bus) or drive to the orange line train with $5/day parking. Direct bus access to Cambridge/Harvard Square and University (not the medical/dental campus or business school campus), Somerville and red line 7 days a week (94 and 96 busses). A mile to Tufts university main campus (NOT the medical campus/dental/center) with two bus lines (94 and 96) providing direct service. Right off of highway 93. See the MBTA website for bus and train schedules. I am located near Medford Square and Riverside Avenue as references when looking at the bus schedules. TransitApp is a good one to download to help you get around town on public transportation. Other Things to NoteHeat is a bit noisy in the bedroom (makes a ticking sound). To make up for this, I have lowered the price in the winter months. If you are a sound sleeper, and/or are willing to wear earplugs (which I'll provide), this is a great deal. The room also overlooks the highway, so there is some noise from there. Note that the electrical panel is in the guest bedroom, but I almost never need to access it. If I can predict access, such as a scheduled visit from an electrician, I will give you plenty of notice. In the event of an emergency, I will need to access the room to get to the panel, but will let you know when I have done so. Mailbox is #7. I will give you a key if you plan to receive mail while you are here. Packages are supposed to get delivered at the doorbell side door (living room side), but sometimes a driver delivers them to another door (the building has four doors). If you are expecting a package, first check on the doorbell side, then go around to all the doors. Also check inside the doors (the exterior key works for all door in the building), as sometimes the packages get put there, either by the driver when somebody buzzes them in, or by a resident who brings the package in. The SpaceEnjoy the privacy of your own well furnished bedroom in my 2 bedroom bungalow just steps from Tufts University. This location is very well situated for those WITH cars or WITHOUT. -10 to 15 minutes via car or taxi from Logan Airport -7 minute walk to the center of Tufts Campus -5 minute walk to several bus lines (to Harvard Sq, Davis Sq and downtown Boston) -European cafe on the corner along with pizza, hipster cafe, chinese restaurant, etc. The room features a FULL sized bed, 2 closets, and lots of nooks for your things. I have included extras to help you unwind and relax at the end of your day such as: a yoga mat, a robe and slippers and some good reading! The house is safe and quiet. I have been told it's a welcoming, warm environment. I have hosted folks from all over the world. Some are visiting to study at nearby Tufts. This location is ideal for anyone looking to base close enough to Boston to drive (less than 10 mins) or take public transit (10 mins to 45 depending on mode and exact city neighborhood). You will have use of the bathroom which offers a shower/tub, toilet and sink. Common areas include; living room, dining room and kitchen. For folks staying longer than just a couple of nights use of the laundry room is possible. If visiting in the summer months you can enjoy the large backyard. There is a vegetable garden, peach and other fruit trees and lawn furniture. Check IN and OUT times are negotiable...just let me know your needs. I am a female professional who has traveled extensively throughout the USA and the EU. I speak English (Boston accent available upon request, lol) and pretty decent Italian. My hobbies include; food, wine, fashion, music, and travel. If you are into these things I can help you out with where to be inspired in the Boston area. I love beautiful things...especially the gorgeous ocean vistas available within a 30 minute drive of my home. **I prefer a shoeless household...I have a basket of new and freshly laundered slippers at the door. Please feel free to use them! If you have a reason why shoeless isn't good for you, let me know...I am reasonable and *occasionally* slip in and out with shoes on but never when there is 'weather.' ***One other thing worth mentioning is that the commuter rail passes nearby and for VERY light sleepers in the summer your sleep could be disturbed. Most folks have said they don't hear it but I feel it's only fair to share this for those who are extremely light in their sleep! :-) Guest AccessBedroom, bathroom, reasonable and *light use* of common areas such as living, dining room and kitchen (tea making and keeping things cold in fridge). In the better weather months you are welcome to sit in the garden. There is a sitting area under a grape arbor, a dining area next to the garage and a sizable backyard (for this urban area) with grass and trees. Currently I even have a bicycle you may borrow if you fancy a ride around the area. Interaction with GuestsDepends on your needs, desires and interest! Let me know in advance what your concerns are (there is nothing "too anything" to put out there, I'll be as honest as I know how in response). If you have preferences tell me that as well! I'll do the same because often what my preferences are or what I am able to offer depends on what's happening on my world at that moment. :-) The NeighborhoodThe location REALLY suits those visiting Tufts. It's a 7 minute walk to the quad. If you love pizza, you are in luck, there are at least a half dozen places very nearby. 2 cafes, one euro styled the other 'hipster' serving organic and naturally derived foods, good beer & wine and excellent coffee. The neighborhood is a nice balance of old school locals and the vibrancy of collegiate energy. It is also very safe. Please see my 'guidebook' with places of note nearby. Also, feel free to ask me about what you are after, I may have a more fine tuned recommendation! Getting AroundWell situated to major highways if you have a car. If you are on foot, it's a 5 minute walk to the bus stop which serves paths to Davis Sq., Harvard Sq., and Lechmere Station. You can be in Davis Sq. in 5 minutes by bus, 20 minutes on foot. You can be in Harvard Sq. in 15 minutes by bus, 45 minutes by foot. ***If you would like information on how the public transit system works, just ask - I'm happy to share! If you prefer 2 wheels, there is also a"Hubway" station nearby on campus. You can 'rent' a bike self serve. It's a really great way to get around offering round trip or one way rentals by the minute, hour, or more! Other Things to Note***Please do your best to arrive inside our agreed upon time. As a fellow traveler and guest I understand that some travel delays are outside of your/my/our control. I will be as flexible as I'd hope someone would be with me. All I ask is that you communicate about delays. Good communication makes most difficult things so much easier!

The SpaceThis is a very old house, with wallpaper that still needs to be removed, but the kind of craftsmanship invested into the structure of the house that elicits the nostalgia of pride in one's work. A diamond in the rough, this antique house with now almost 100 years of personal family history, is mine to share, and the area to be explored. Guest AccessEvery space will be accessible except other private bedrooms, and the computer in the hall next to the host's bedroom. Feel free to bring your own wireless devices and have access to our free 75mbps WiFi! The back yard is overgrown, but private and peaceful if one needs a nature fix.
