We are happy to share our dining room, library, spacious covered porch, deck and the grounds while you are here, or arrange to share meals with you. No TV in the guest rooms. We have full service cable TV and generally watch the living room TV in the evening to wind down (to about 10:30 or 11pm). You're welcome to join us to watch a movie or show- BluRay, DVD or streaming, if you are so inclined. With some notice, we can record your fav TV show so you won't miss an episode. Interaction with GuestsThis is our home, so we'll be here. We enjoy entertaining and meeting new people but we'll let you set the tone - we'll provide self-serve breakfast items and make ourselves scarce, or we can mutually arrange for a bigger breakfast on occasion and sit and chat while you plan your day. Let us know your preferences. If you have a plan of things to do/see - we can help with local advice/strategies/contacts. We can recommend restaurants, or even plan ahead for a shared dinner at home with you (for which you provide help with shopping, cooking, or funds) if you're tired of 'going out' and want a lower-cost community meal - we're flexible. The NeighborhoodToo small to be a known tourist attraction in itself, Nahant is a refuge that few tourists have the opportunity to explore. When you drive across our 2-mile long causeway, you enter a world apart. It's a quiet, safe, beautiful beach town set on the Massachusetts North Shore - a taste of "Island Life" within commuting distance of Boston. Our "Island" setting gives us no through traffic, so walking, bike riding, rollerblading are easy. Getting AroundTo be able to see the most of this beautiful area, it is best to have a car, arrange rides to public transportation and/or arrange some tours. On-street parking right outside in our safe cul-de-sac.
Public Transportation via commuter rail (~3 mi away) or Subway (~7 miles away). Low-cost parking is available at the MBTA subway stop for the easiest way to day-trip into all areas of Boston and Cambridge without worrying about parking in the city.
We're about 20-30 minutes north of Logan Airport, depending on traffic. Other Things to NoteIn addition to its own quiet seaside charm, Nahant is handy to the North Shore's countless historic, cultural, and natural resources as well as restaurants and shopping opportunities from cute seaside village shops to outlets, all within an hour's drive. If you're planning a stay of several days, we're well-located for day-trips to other New England attractions (1-2 hour drives to points of interest in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and of course other points in Massachusetts including Cape Ann and Cape Cod) - or just walk, bike-ride, bird-watch, swim, or sunbathe on our town beaches.
