The Space We own a nice townhouse near the center of Newburyport, MA. It is a short walk to the center of town. During the summer the town hosts many festivals, theater, an artsy movie theater, concerts by the water many many restaurants and shops to browse in. We are located overlooking the Merrimac River, and only a short drive to pristine beaches. Great seafood restaurants, whale watching and kayaking ,fishing biking are major themes here. Hop onto one of the nearby major highways and you are on your way to the rest of New England! We are only 10 minutes to N.H. and about one half hour drive to Maine. Or, jump on the train which is very conveniently located. You can get to Boston, and enjoy the many wonderful things that the city has to offer. Our home is comfortable, and cozy. We have cable and wi-fi, high-speed internet. Washer/dryer,two and a half baths. The kitchen is brand new and the beds are comfy! We also have central a/c for your comfort. We have one king sized bed, and one queen. Linens are provided. Kick back and sit on the deck overlooking the Merrimac River, or go for an evening stroll through our very charming town. We have a nice barbeque available for that juicy steak or fish. Our home backs up to a nice park that sits alongside the river. There are tennis and basketball courts available to the public, and a very nice playground for different age levels. Availability depends on when we get our plane tickets. We are basically available for the month of July. Date is a little negotiable. We would love to have you as our guests! The NeighborhoodWe love our neighborhood. We live in a quiet condo setting. We are next to a public park along the Merrimac River. There is a fabulous walking trail along the river, and if you follow along, it will take you into town along the waterfront. You can be in the downtown area in about 5 minutes walk from here. Getting AroundThe commuter rail is about 1 mile from our home. There are several trains into Boston each day.

The SpaceI’m a photographer and will be in the area...I am trying out Air BnB for the first time...this cozy apt. is only a 3 min walk to downtown and restaurants and 10 min to the waterfront...and 3 miles to beaches. Streaming Internet video Netflix and more…Queen size bed and a full size futon on the living room. Interaction with GuestsI will be in the area and am available by phone, text, and email. The NeighborhoodYou can take a stroll and enjoy the historic homes in the (URL HIDDEN) the morning walk to breakfast at 17 State St...or for dinner, music and a nightcap...and walk home again. It's a quite neighborhood with friendly people.

Getting AroundIf you would like to go into Boston, the train is about a half mile away from our house. Taking the rail trail to the station is a lovely way to go. (URL HIDDEN) Other Things to Note*Please note, during the months of July and August we rent by the week only. **Please note that our 218 year old home does not have central air. It does have 7 air-conditioners, one in each bedroom and two on the first floor. The attic master suite in extreme weather conditions can become too hot for both the ceiling fan, skylight shades and air conditioner. We can not be held responsible for the weather.

The stair case to the bedroom is steep for some, but has handrails, the bathroom is directly off the bedroom upstairs. The kitchen and stairwell has beautiful knotty pine. Any other question...we are happy to answer. Interaction with GuestsOwner occupied 1/2 house. Private space for renters, and limited interaction, but we are always close if you need us! Please don't hesitate to let us know if daily routine - impacts your restful stay. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is filled with historic homes, close to town, walking distance to the best that Newburyport has to offer. There is a Famers market on Sundays, and great farms within a short drive or bike. We are around the corner from the Merrimac river, and the best sunrises at Joppa boat launch. We are driving/biking distance to Maudslay State park, Plum Island reservation with walking trails, and beautiful shoreline. A short drive away from Portsmouth, Hamption, Ipswich, Salem. All historic towns with lots of activities to choose from. Getting AroundWe are appx 2 miles from the train to Boston, walk, taxi, or a car rental location is in walking distance of train. There is a park/ride and hourly service to Boston/Logan. The apartment has on street parking. Other Things to Note3 night minimum, Prefer weekly in Summer Wifi, cable, dvd player. Travelling with kids and can't take it with you? Let us know we can make sure they have something (toys/coloring books etc) on arrival - Our house was built in 1850. The apartment has a beach cottage feel - but you can still walk to town. The entrance to the apartment is a walkway that travels the left side of the house. On-street parking is always available.

Natural, non-toxic cleaners are used to create a healthy environment. The room's four windows cast natural light and offer an inspiring view of the colorful house gables in the south end. The freshly painted room is pale aqua, simply decorated for peace & relaxation. The writing desk is an inviting place to work. The private bath is sweet & clean. Downstairs, the gathering room has a working fireplace. The kitchen is sunny and cheerful. The very steep winding staircase is fun for those who do not have trouble climbing. Extra large suitcases that do not fit up the stairs can be left downstairs. Allergy sufferers please note that we have two house cats. Inside, the feel is a mix of historic New England & Beatrix Potter. Compelling place for writers, birders, artists, photographers, history lovers, nature lovers, old house lovers. Also ideal for individuals or couples who just want to get away and meander from museum to quaint shop to cozy cafe to art gallery to great restaurant. Yoga studios within walking distance. It's also a fun stopping place for explorers who want to see the northeast from Salem & Cape Ann & Gloucester to Portsmouth & Portland, Maine. Guests help themselves to coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit and homemade muffins in the morning. The front study and downstairs bathroom are the owner's private spaces. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is friendly, intergenerational, and safe. It's fun to wander the south end looking at the historic houses. The river is at the end of the street with a path, benches, and small boat ramp for kayaks. Downtown is a 10 minute walk and the Plum Island beaches and Parker River Wildlife Sanctuary are a 3 1/2 mile easy bike or car ride. It's a truly interesting and unique place. Getting AroundMost everything is within walking distance. I live here car-free. The train station is 2 miles from the house. The bus station is 4 miles away. Bike rental is a 5 minute walk from the house. Off street winter parking is available. Other Things to NotePlum Island is an internationally known bird sanctuary.

    The SpaceWe would love to welcome you to our newly rebuilt poolside guest room, opening directly to the kitchen and dining area on one side, the outdoors on the other. Separate entrance for privacy. The sofa bed, with its egg crate foam pad, is queen sized, very comfortable (we sleep there ourselves on hot nights), and converts into a wonderful sunroom during the day. There are also a full height wardrobe closet and a dresser for your use. The guest room is downstairs, but the bathroom is upstairs and shared, so that keeps the price reasonable. We are very respectful of your need for privacy in this case. We can also accommodate more people in another room upstairs, depending on circumstances. We're life long sailors so we'd especially love to host any salty dogs traveling by boat. We're on a very quiet, leafy side street and the swimming pool is newly refurbished. So enjoy a swim in the pool, a walk downtown, or a drive (bike ride) to the beach and come back to the nice, warm fireplace! Interaction with GuestsWe are flexible and respect privacy, which is quite easy due to the location and private entrance of the room. Still, we love to visit, take care of needs and provide info on our wonderful town. The NeighborhoodOur 1845 house is a half block from the Joppa Park launching ramp (and 5 blocks from the American Yacht Club), a 10 min walk from the waterfront and historic downtown, brimming with shopping, entertainment, transportation and dining options. It's two miles to Plum Island beaches and the world famous Parker River National Wildlife Reservation. The Newburyport Commuter Rail station is under 2 miles away. Also, half way to the downtown is the excellent Tannery Mall, with a bike rental, a convenience store, several restaurants and book, clothing, video, gift and one of the most wonderful toy stores you will ever visit. Getting AroundThe Commuter Rail station is about 1.8 miles by car, but much less on foot (about 1.2 miles), using some well worn short cuts. Bus service downtown includes airport and downtown Boston commuter buses, plus a few buses each day to Haverhill. The Newburyport Park and Ride with its C & J Bus station is only 3.6 miles away. The downtown waterfront and much of the other guest docking is a 10 minute walk.

(Long time Plum Island residents still take plenty of photos) Eight miles of pristine ocean beach await... Getting AroundNo public transportation out on the island. Can meet guests at Newburyport bus or train stations, (direct bus from Boston Logan airport) and to drive them into Newburyport --schedule permitting. Happy to lend bicycles to get around the island. Newburyport is ~ 5 miles from here. Ample car parking in driveway by the house. Other Things to NoteThis home lends itself to spiritual retreat as well as active vacationing. Guests are welcome to bring canoes, kayaks, and swimsuits (in warm weather). Newburyport is charming, and there's lots to do here -- history, arts, antiques, restaurants, nature..

In our 1845 home, we have 2 rooms with a shared bath and deluxe continental breakfast. Both rooms have queen beds and include parking, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and air conditioning. We are a 10 minute walk to the center of town and 5 minutes to restaurants and shops. Watch the sunrise over the river from your room! Both rooms have hand woven textiles from Africa and Mexico. African art is displayed throughout the house. The alarm clock even has an IPod / IPhone dock. For nature lovers, we are 3 miles to the ocean and the nationally important Plum Island National Bird and Wildlife Refuge. We are on the Merrimac River and have a boat and kayak launch 100 yards from our front door. Less than an hour drive from Boston and Logan airport, we are centrally located - an easy drive north to both the New Hampshire and Maine coasts and Salem, Gloucester and Rockport to the south. Approximately 5 minute walk from the heart of downtown. Getting AroundLocated on Washington Street. Walking distance to all shopping, restaurants, and boardwalks! If you are interested in taking the train to Boston the train station is roughly a 5 minute car ride or 20-25 minute walk on the Rail Trail. Other Things to Note$50 Cleaning Fee $15 Additional Person Charge (over 4 adults) per night $25 Pet fee if bringing furry friends ****If you do not book within 36 hours of inquiring, the pre-approval will be removed and the dates will be passed on to the next person in line***** There is no central air in my home. There is air conditioners in every room. Home has street parking ONLY. During the holidays it can be tricky to find a spot on the street, so you may have to park at the free municipal lot roughly a block away. Large homes which were once owned by sea captains adorn the main street with most sporting at "widow's watch" or cupola at the top of the home. Train or direct bus service to downtown Boston and Logan Airport (1 hour drive). Easy drive to several more beaches along the North Shore of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Beautiful seacoast town of Portsmouth, NH only 25 minutes away. Easy highway access to the Green Mountains or White Mountains in VT. NH, and ME. Train and bus service to Logan airport and Boston. The NeighborhoodHalfway between the basin and the ocean, this little cottage is quaint and situated in a lovely quiet neighborhood with a community who thrives living by the ocean. You can hear the waves crash at night and the smell of the ocean breezes through open windows! Getting AroundWithin walking distance to several area restaurants however a care would be advisable. Just 4 miles to downtown Newburyport filled with shops, excellent restaurant, farmer's market and boardwalk next to the ocean.

It's two miles to Plum Island beaches and the world famous Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. The Newburyport Commuter Rail station is under 2 miles away. Also, half way to the downtown is the excellent Tannery Mall, with a bike rental, a convenience store, several restaurants and book, clothing, video, gift and one of the most wonderful toy stores you will ever find. Getting AroundThe Commuter Rail station is about 1.8 miles by car, but much less on foot (about 1.2 miles), using some well worn short cuts. Bus service downtown includes airport and downtown Boston commuter buses, plus a few buses each day to Haverhill. The Newburyport Park and Ride with its C & J Bus station is only 3.6 miles away. The downtown waterfront and much of the other guest docking is a 10 minute walk. This area is part of the Great Salt Marsh that spans Cape Anne to Seabrook NH and is known as one of the top birding areas in the country. Nice drive to several scenic beaches along the North Shore of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. The beautiful seacoast town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire is only 20 minutes away and the well known Kittery factory outlets are just 30 minutes away form Newburyport.             The Joppa House is perched on stilts within the Merrimack River. Our home abuts Mass Audubon and enjoys a natural habitat for birds. The lower and upper observation decks overlooking a salt pan offer great vantage points for viewing wildlife as well as outdoor retreats for relaxing on the river. This architecturally stunning home has panoramic views over marsh and river yet remains private from the easily accessed city of Newburyport and the beautiful beaches of Plum Island. Kayaks can be launched from the site at high tide. Enjoy all that Newburyport has to offer as well as the beaches of Plum Island, the Sandy Point State Reservation and the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge during your stay at this enchanting property.

It boasts a rich maritime history, world class cuisine, stylish and artisan shopping, and sun soaked sandy beaches. Packed with charm and welcoming residents, Newburyport is a community you can't help but fall in love with. Getting AroundOur apartment is ideally located for driving around this fascinating area. Boston is a 45 minute drive to the South, and the towns on the North Shore and Cape Ann are all within a 30 minute drive. To the North, the historic towns of New Hampshire and Southern Maine are less than an hour away. In regards to public transport, we have a limited bus service in Newburyport, but there is regular train service to the North Shore towns and Boston and a direct bus service to Logan airport and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. During the summer months there is a weekend shuttle from the train station to the beaches on Plum Island with stops just a few blocks from the apartment.
