Guest AccessThe entire house is the subject of this listing. It's the companion residence to the house where we live year 'round. The homes are separated by two 2-car garages. Renters of the house have room for one car in the attached garage. This layout creates very good privacy, there being no connecting walls. Interaction with GuestsWe're available by phone or about 100' away to chat if we're home. Mostly, our guests can rely on us for information about restaurants in the area, directions for travel - and we include wi-fi connection in the rent so their own hi-tech equipment can provide them with directions, etc. Occasionally, we find ourselves around the same campfire on our grounds; but we're very sensitive to our guests' preference for privacy. The NeighborhoodWe're located in a forested private development. The air is sweet, our acreage is covered by native grasses and wildflowers and a year-'round creek flows to the small lake across the road and the sloping lot that fronts on the dammed lake. Neighbors are cordial, and we encourage our guests to try the little convenience store and diner less than a mile away where local banter is friendly and the food is excellent. Getting AroundNo public transportation is practically available. Other Things to NoteWe provide the pass for our guests who want to use the tiny beaches on the private lakes we enjoy. Our roads are well-tended hard-packed dirt roads; so they make good hiking in view of the very slight road traffic. We're tolerant of pets, but the pets must be closely supervised, well-mannered in strange places.
Becket is about access to the Appalachian Trail and other hiking sites at state and municipal parks; tiny diners for breakfasts and lunches and Dream Away Lodge for at least one night of excellent eclectic dining and varied live music presentations. The quaint shops and 19th century inns are 20 minutes away in nearby towns where a broad array of international restaurants and music venues will be found. But, relaxing in Becket means quiet in the country.
