The SpaceYou are renting a private downstairs apartment with two bedrooms, living room and full bath. Both bedrooms have queen beds, bureaus and large closets. The bathroom has a tub and shower; all amenities are provided. The apartment has a private entrance that leads directly to the pathway to the driveway.
There is a kitchen corner in the living room with a microwave, small fridge, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, electric teapot and plenty of cupboard space for your supplies. Food provided includes regular and herb teas, milk, a selection of coffees, sweeteners, hot chocolate, snacks, popcorn and bottled and seltzer water. I stock some cereal and juice and protein bars to get you through breakfast if you arrive too late to shop. There are coolers you can use for any perishables that don't fit in your apartment fridge and plenty of ice in my upstairs freezer.
Your 55-inch Ultra HD 4K TV comes with over 150 cable and music channels as well as HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax and Netflix. I also have a large DVD collection and a good selection of family board games. The super high-speed Wi-Fi has a strong signal downstairs and there are two laptop-height tables and a card table with 4 chairs. I try to have current information on all the tourist attractions on file and have a reasonable library of material on Concord's history. There are lots of fiction books I have collected over time. (If you start one and don't finish it take it with you and perhaps leave another book behind.)
The thermostat for the central air conditioning/heat is in your space so you may adjust it to suit your personal preferences. The washer, dryer, ironing board and iron are also downstairs. Guest AccessCome and go as you wish. The check-in time is flexible. I know it is hard to make precise plans or predict delays. Preferred check-out is by 11:00 a.m. Interaction with GuestsI would love to get to know you, share a pot of coffee or glass or wine and chat, but I also respect your privacy. I am here to help with questions or suggestions or assist you in any way to make your stay and entire experience in this area live up to your hopes.
I don't smoke but I know some people do. You are welcome to smoke anywhere outside. There are two lawn chairs and a small table on your patio. The NeighborhoodMy house is just just outside the town center in the more rural farming part of Concord and located on a quiet cul de sac that abuts conservation land. There are miles of trails suitable for hiking, jogging or dirt biking within walking distance. Walden Pond is just down the road.
The only noise you will likely hear at night is the resident barred owl or, in March, April and May the chorus of spring peepers. (If you would like a backyard bird list let me know.)
Within a few minutes drive there is a pizzeria (that also delivers), a neighborhood bar and restaurant, liquor store, Dunkin' Donuts, convenience store and gas station along with the Verrill Farm Stand - a noted attraction throughout the greater Boston area for its home-grown produce, home-made pastries and ready-to-eat take-out meals. Getting AroundIt's a short drive to Concord center and all its attractions and the Minuteman National Historical Park. The commuter rail station into Boston is five minutes away. For a schedule and all stops go to the MBTA web site (above letters and dot plus com). (AirBnB blocks all web addresses in our write-ups!) and click on "Fitchburg." That will bring up the full schedule - you want the Concord station (not West Concord) "inbound" to get to Boston. You will end up at North Station and be able to connect to various subway lines from there. You can also connect to the subway system at the Alewife Station 15 minutes down Route 2. Trains are fairly frequent and parking is reasonable.
Approximate Driving Times With Normal Traffic: Cambridge 25 minutes, Boston 30 minutes and Logan Airport 40 minutes. We also have Uber which is about $35 to get to Boston and $50 to the airport. Local rides cost about $10.00.
The Fenn School, Concord Academy and Middlesex School are ten to fifteen minutes away. Emerson Hospital is less than five minutes.
You are within a ten-minute drive to Wayland, Lincoln, Acton and Maynard and 20 minutes away from Stow, Carlisle, Westford, Littleton, Bedford, Harvard (town of), Waltham, Marlborough, Burlington, Lexington and Arlington. Bolton, Berlin, Natick, Framingham and Wellesley are about a 25-minute drive; Worcester and Lowell 40 minutes. Other Things to NoteI don't take dogs but there is an excellent boarding facility 15 minutes away (Palmer Kennels). Anything in a cage, tank or fish bowl is more than welcome - but I can't allow cats as some people are allergic to them.
Concord has very strict guidelines for operating a guest house. I have a current Certificate of Occupancy so you may stay here with the confidence that this listing has been inspected by the Town and has met all safety requirements.
You will be parking in my private driveway off the street. There is room for several cars.
