The SpaceThe cottage is best for a maximum of two adults or two adults and one child. There is a queen bed on the first floor and bathroom with small stall shower. There is a loft accessible by ladder/stair with a twin bed in it. Because of the access the loft is not suitable for really young children and because of the size of the cottage and the configuration of the ladder, the space is tight for three adults especially for multiple nights. We supply sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, and coffee & tea. The cottage is heated. Important note: There is no kitchen in the cottage and we ask that you not cook in the house. There is a mini fridge, coffee maker, and an electric kettle but there are no facilities for cooking. The "freezer" compartment in the fridge is not large enough or cold enough for anything that needs to be frozen like ice cream. If you need ice, please let us know and we are happy to provide it. We provide mugs, coffee, tea, and sugar but you will need to BYO milk or cream if you want it. We supply shampoo and conditioner but there is no blow dryer. There is a parking space at the end of the driveway near the cottage marked by a red wagon. A stone path leads to the cottage from the space. Please don't park on the lawn near the cottage as that could damage the septic tank. To leave we recommend turning around by backing up toward the ramp in front of the barn door. Backing all the way out of the driveway, especially at night, is very challenging. Guest AccessOur property borders Mountain Meadow, a Trustees of the Reservation property where there is terrific hiking. The bridge behind the house takes you to a trail that we have blazed which hooks up after about a mile to the Trustees' trails. The hike up is steep but there are switchbacks. Interaction with GuestsWe are generally around if you need assistance, but the cottage is a separate structure so you can come and go as you please, enjoy the quiet, and not really see us at all. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood feels like the country but you are only about 1.5 miles from downtown Williamstown. Our property backs up to the Mountain Meadow, a Trustees of the Reservations property. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation to the cottage. Downtown is about a two-mile walk and there are sidewalks most of the way except a short stretch on White Oaks rd. There is plenty of parking in the driveway near the cottage. Other Things to NotePlease note: The cottage is not equipped for cooking and we specifically ask that you do not cook in the house. We are happy to recommend inexpensive options for meals in the area. If you are looking for the ability to cook, there are many other listings in town with kitchens.

The SpaceTwo bedroom in-law apartment with separate entrance has: - 1 bathroom, freshly painted and renovated - sunny living room with fireplace - two bedrooms (queen bed and full bed) - large eat-in kitchen, oak cabinets, fully applianced - brand new front porch. Free high speed WiFi. We do not have cable, but Netflex is available for you to pick something you like from thousands of movies and shows. Also, you can enjoy huge well maintained backyard. Non smoking property. Well behaved small pets considered. Guest AccessIt's a self containing apartment. We will be sharing only driveway. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy visiting, but respect your privacy. We love meeting new people, sharing dinner, and great conversation; exploring the area together or just giving tips. It also depends on our schedules when and how much we will be around. We can be involved in your stay as much as you'd like. If less involvement is your style, that's cool too, our feelings won't be hurt! We are also not against dropping you off downtown depending on our schedules. We really won't mind, just ask! Check-in and check-out times can be flexible when not solidly booked. Usual check-in is 4 pm and check-out by 10 am. We are a very flexible and reasonable family, take care of our home and we'll be happy. We love to host, so please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns. The NeighborhoodVery nice, quiet and private neighborhood. Other Things to NoteWe love our home and we hope you may too! My most recent review for this property (from another website): Paul S. said... Apr 8, 2015 Great place to stay in Williamstown Date of Stay April 4, 2015 This is a great place to stay in Williamstown. It is a nice 20 minute walk to downtown Williamstown or to Williams College, and close to the Wild Oats grocery store. The house provided a good base for playing games, reading, etc. and was clean and welcoming. Our hosts were very easy to reach and coordinate with for arrival. The nearby Spice Root Indian restaurant was particularly good and the Mass MoCA art museum was a highlight of the trip. My Response: Thank you Paul! I am glad to hear that you and your family had a great time! You are welcome back anytime.

The SpaceMy home sits on the slope of a hill surrounded on two sides by trees, with a bit of wooded area in the back. We are in northern Berkshire county, on a very quiet street away from the center of town, near Sterling & Francine Clark Art Museum, Williams College and Museum, Williamstown Theatre Festival, MCLA, MASS MoCA. There's a great local food co-op (Wild Oats Market), lots of hiking trails (including Mt Greylock), theater in the summers . . . it's generally a beautiful area. Directly up my street, a few minutes walk from my home, is the entrance to the Pine Cobble hiking trail. You would rent the sitting room / spare bedroom at the front of the house, which has a double futon bed with a memory-foam mattress topper. Your bedroom has direct access to the shared bathroom. (There is a separate entrance to the bathroom from the front hall.) It is a cozy sort of room with 2 windows, but somewhat spacious, with a large bookshelf full of books that you are welcome to read during your stay. In the summer months, I put a window fan in the back window of your room for some cool air during the warmer times. Guest AccessMy house is 2 floors, 1 1⁄2 baths, plus basement. You would have use of the common areas of the house (living room to relax; dining room to eat meals; bathroom of course; the kitchen to cook if you like; the front porch to sit in warm weather. It's homey here, and comfortable as long as you are happy sleeping on a futon with a memory foam topper! (NOTE: This is a futon mattress, not a regular mattress. If you will not be comfortable sleeping on a futon mattress with a 1.5 inch memory foam topper, please look elsewhere for accommodations! It is NOT ok to decide to sleep on my living room sofa because you are not comfortable on the bed!) You can use my wireless internet and, if needed, the laundry facilities in the basement. You would share the bathroom with, primarily, my nice roommate whose bedroom is on the opposite side of the house. I use the main bathroom just really for showers as I don't have a shower in my 1/2 bath upstairs. Interaction with GuestsI am an artist / poet with a part-time outside job, and I usually have a pleasant roommate whose bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from yours. You would possibly see us randomly, mostly around breakfast or dinner time. PLEASE NOTE: We are clean, but not pristinely clean; we are comfortably orderly! We're relaxed and friendly. Very neat folks may find my house a bit cluttered (stack of books on the coffee table; a children's shelf with an assortment of kid's reading and play materials in the front entrance room; my sewing machine in the dining room open with my sewing materials ready for action.) I don't provide breakfast for you, but I sometimes like to make a batch of muffins which you will be welcome to share, and I have a little coffee maker and coffee in the dining room for you to use, along with a selection of teas, and a friendly little red tea kettle in the kitchen to heat your water. I leave a collection of informational materials (in a basket in your room) that may help you to plan your activities, and you can ask me if you have questions about the area or if you like to chat. But, I am also happy to leave you to your privacy. And I leave a small card on the bureau in your room with my various contact information, in case you might need to speak to me while I am out of the house. (I am at my 9-5 job 4 days per week.) The NeighborhoodThe house is on a dead-end and very quiet road, with only 4 houses on the street, and so traffic is minimal. In nice weather, the enclosed front porch is a very pleasant place to relax; in winter, there is plenty of room there for storage of skis. My driveway is small, but will fit 2 cars side by side and another car behind mine. You would probably be parking beside my car on the right side of the driveway. (My roommate will probably park behind my car on the left side.) We have a local railway nearby, which is not a passenger rail. It passes close enough to my house to make some noise, so you may hear (unless you are used to it, as I am) the train passing in the evening on its regular schedule. Getting AroundWe have the BRTA (Berkshire Regional Transit Authority) which runs buses on a regular schedule to and from the local cities/towns, but does not run after dinnertime, and only about once an hour. If you are arriving by bus or train, you would be dropped off at the Williams Inn, which is, perhaps, a 30/35-minute walk (but a nice one) to my house. The Williams Inn is not a bus terminal, but is a stop for Peter Pan bus lines with a waiting area inside the inn. Other Things to NotePlease note: If T Mobile is your cell phone carrier, you will have trouble with reception in our area! My guests who have T Mobile complain of not being able to use their phones while visiting. Folks sometimes have trouble finding my road, as it is not always included in online maps or gps. I will send you specific directions to find my house a couple of days before you will be arriving. These directions have been very helpful to others, and should be helpful to you as well!

The English style garden right outside the kitchen will charm you with its serenity – there is a privacy deck and a vegetable garden. You are also welcome to visit the Art Studio, but the living room and ground floor bedrooms are private. Interaction with GuestsI am retired educator and an artist - I live downstairs and have my painting studio there as well. I love to meet new people and enjoy hosting guests. I will be happy to guide you with directions or activities around town and I will have an updated binder full of ideas, maps and brochures. I am here to help but will stay discreetly in the background if you do not wish to interact. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and the view pleasant. The skylights add a view to the sky as well as light to the upstairs. Being able to park in the driveway will facilitate your life as you will be only a few steps from your Upstairs Suite. Getting AroundParking is always easy and free. The walks to museums or theater are pleasant and short. You can also exercise/walk on Williams College Campus and playing fields. The SpaceThis beautifully maintained historic House On Main Street was known as the Victorian Tourist & Antique House in a by-gone era. It was originally constructed in the mid 1700's and was moved to this site, near where Fort Hoosac previously stood, around 1830. The house was visited by such famous personalities as President Woodrow Wilson, who enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner here in 1914. There were many additions and renovations before it was fully remodeled in 1986, taking great care to preserve the quality features of the house. Today there are six spacious, airy bedrooms for our guests to enjoy. In our latest remodel, we have included a Pro-Style 6 Burner Gas Jenn-Air Range, new living room furniture custom made by Taylor King and high end Serta mattress sets form the iComfort, iSeries and Perfect Sleeper collections, even a 48' Flat Screen TV, a BluRay DVD player with free Netflix, Pandora, YouTube and other viewing and listening services. It is inspiring to stay in a place where famous people have been and historic events took place. This home was once owned by Woodrow Wilson's daughter and the former President himself stayed here many times. In fact, he came to Williamstown during the voting process for his second term, believing he had no victory to celebrate. When he got the news that he had again won the Presidency, he gave an impromptu speech from the porch of this house. It is an historic and magical place. Guest AccessAmazing stove: Pro-Style 6 Burner Gas Jenn-Air Range, new comfy living room furniture custom made by Taylor King and high end Serta mattress sets form the iComfort, iSeries and Perfect Sleeper collections, even a 48' Flat Screen TV, a BluRay DVD player with free Netflix, Pandora, YouTube and other viewing and listening services. It has been recently remodeled, taking great care to preserve the quality features of the house. Today there are five spacious, airy bedrooms for our guests to enjoy. Chef’s kitchen, high quality furniture and beds (so comfy!) even a 48' Flat Screen TV, a BluRay DVD player with free Netflix, Pandora, YouTube and other viewing and listening services.

The SpaceI grew up in Indiana but I have lived in this town for more than 50 years and I have a lot of knowledge about it. I was a theatre and dance costume designer and I lived and worked in NYC. I have lots of gardens as I am very found of them and I like to garden. I have a large yard but I am very near the center of town. I was also a flower arranger for about 20 years, I still do a little of both costume designing/making and flower arranging. Guest AccessMy guests can have access to nearly all of the house. I have a separate space where my son lives and that is off limits! The house has about 3,000 Sq. feet. Interaction with GuestsI am usually around and I can help you with answering questions if needed. The NeighborhoodMy near neighbors are terrific and my house is a bit hidden but very close to town, 2 minuets away by car. Getting AroundThere is very little public transportation in Williamstown. Situated next to the woods and a stream, this guest cottage is quiet and private, set down a long driveway far back from the road. The guest house includes a queen-sized bed, private full bath and a pullout couch. It could comfortably sleep 4 with the pullout couch, though there isn't much open floorspace when the couch is out. The main house, where we live, is a few yards away across a stone patio and mahogany deck.
