The SpacePenthouse house apartment has two floors. On the main floor is the kitchen, living room, balcony, and a half bathroom. On the second floor I have a huge master bedroom for my guests with an ensuite bathroom. The bedroom has one queen bed, one futon (double mattress) and I have 2 air mattresses that can fit comfortably in the room. I put two people/ bed so if there is a group of 4 I will only set up one air mattress. *If you require extra air mattresses please request before you arrive.* There is a storage area upstairs as well as a spare bedroom where I stay if I am home when my guests are here. I encourage my guests to make themselves feel at home- they can use the kitchen, go out on the balcony and relax on the couch if they like. Guest AccessGuests will stay in the master bedroom located on the second floor of the apartment with an ensuite bathroom that has a shower. Clean towels are provided. They also have kitchen access as well as the ability to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the scenic views of the river and the Detroit skyline. Interaction with GuestsWe are usually very busy but when I am home I interact with my guests as much as they would like. I respect their privacy when they are in the bedroom but I do try to talk with them when I see them. If I am not home there are sticky notes around the apartment explaining where things are. The NeighborhoodCaesars Casino is only a 2 block walk away. Windsors nightlife is within a very short walking distance. (Ouellette Ave. is a block away.) Trendy Walkerville is a 5 minute drive and Windsor's little Italy is also a 5 minute drive away. Getting AroundTransit Windsor Bus station is just a few blocks walk away- only a 5 minute walk. The tunnel bus leaves from the bus stop which goes back and forth from Detroit to Windsor every half hour during the day and then every hour after 10 pm - 1 am. It is very convenient and I use it all the time- just remember to bring your passport! The Windsor train station is about a 5 minute drive away. Other Things to NoteI sometimes have an extra spot in the parking garage located beneath the apartment building. When it is available I tell my guests before their arrival and ask them to pull up to the front of the building, buzz up to my apartment and then I give them the building card to access the garage (or leave instructions on how to do this). There is also a parking garage across the street that is free for the first hour and then is a max of $12/day.

The SpaceThis is a great 4000 sq/ft three story single family home. Very spacious with tons of light. All the bedrooms have great closet space and two rooms have en suite full baths. Guest AccessGuest have full access to the first, second and third floor. You have the house to yourself, but I only live three doors down if you need anything. Interaction with GuestsWe are here to make sure you have a great time in Detroit, and are available to help you have a great stay! The NeighborhoodWoodbridge is one of the most beautiful areas of Detroit. Within 1-2 miles of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Whole Foods, Eastern Market, Downtown, Wayne State. Comerica Park, Ford Field, Masonic Temple, Fox Theater, Corktown. Detroit safety and emptiness comes up often. This house is in the safest part of Detroit. We are the only area that is patrolled by three police departments due to Wayne State University and the variety of medical centers near by. Many are thrown off by the current state of Detroit. There are amazing small "islands" of great neighborhoods throughout the city, but a lot of emptiness, grafitti, and development between all of them. You can't escape it if you are staying in Detroit. It's the nature of our city. This house is in one of the safest and most quiet neighborhoods in all of Detroit. We are only a mile from city center and most attractions. My reviews tend to be all 5 stars except sometimes we fall short in "location". I attribute this to guests being unfamiliar with Detroit, so I am trying to give a more detailed background of the nature of our city. Getting AroundThe bus, Uber, or taxis are the best way to get around, and of course bikes are great for our area! Other Things to NoteOur street is always empty, so parking in front is always available. Welcome to Woodbridge! The SpaceThe Loft is beautiful. Lightly decorated with burgandy cement floors, newly remodeled kitchen and 2 bathrooms. A full bathroom is located on the first floor and a walk-in shower is located on the second floor. The building is quiet. An air bed is provided for lower level if needed. Guest AccessGuess have access to gated parking. You will also be given a key for access into and out of the building. Please do not visit the office. This is my personal loft Interaction with GuestsThe benefit of using our loft is the flexibility of checking in and checking out. Because we allow flexible check in and out, I may not always be available physically during the process, but i am always a phone call away. When checking in, the process will always be the same. Simply wait for entry into the building. Go to the second floor and enter the loft. The door will be unlocked and the key along with the gate key will be available on the counter. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is seemingly quiet. The loft is located directly in between Corktown and Southwest Detroit. From the outside, the building appears to be an old warehouse, but inside the building is decorated with hardwood floors, and an beautiful structure. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop located directly outside of the building. 1 block north of the building is a bus stop heading to Downtown, Detroit.

The SpaceA small-scale, design-focused Detroit inn, Honor & Folly is reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant. You'll be immersed in this historical neighborhood that's also at the forefront of the city's current revitalization. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit (made the 40 "Best Food Lovers Hotels in America" Awards), The Globe and Mail, Details Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller UK, and Afar. With a prime Corktown location, you'll be situated smack into the middle of one of the most thriving, charming and walk-able neighborhoods in the city—right across from the city’s most beautiful icon of urban decay: the old train station. Admire it up-close or enjoy the beautiful view through the big living room windows—you can even see the Ambassador Bridge! Sharing a block with Slows, Astro, Gold Cash Gold and Sugar House, Honor & Folly also offers plenty of other nearby bars, shops and restaurants within a quick stroll (I provide guests with a list of my favorite recommendations), as well as easy access to downtown. The well-appointed space is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans—much of which is also for sale. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, for a capacity of four people, with additional possible sleeping arrangements for kids. From time to time, Honor & Folly is used as a community space, hosting workshops or events, but you will have the space entirely to yourself during your stay. OTHER AMENITIES: outdoor balcony | local design | fully stocked cooking kitchen | potential to arrange custom catering, private dinner parties, etc.

The SpaceJhon got our home in 2007 when it was a shell, no wiring, plumbing and many of the walls and flooring was holey. Since then, it has become a beautiful artistic home with a garden where we live with our two dogs. Our 10-year-old nephew sometimes stays with us weekends. Jhon's philosophy is to use what you have and also to honor history. Most of what's in our house has been created or repaired using salvaged materials. Many of the walls show the layers of wallpaper and paint from over the years--we would gently scrape away any flaking paint and then seal it in with a clear coat. We don't consider the house "done" but we are a roofer & a violin teacher, so we do what we can when we get some savings or find the materials we need to complete a new project. Private bedroom. Washing machine. Shared kitchen. Shared bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower. 2 shared living rooms and 1 shared library. Backporch & 2 gardens. Greenhouse. Art Park nextdoor. Surrounding fields. Access to kitchen & fridge. Breakfast will be serve-yourself cold cereal (something good and organic) with whole milk from a Michigan dairy in the area. Also you can make coffee using our beans & French press with sugar, honey & milk available too. Both of us work so we may not be able to spend long breakfasts or dinners chatting but it depends on the day and the week. We don't promise tours of the city or anything like that but we will offer suggestions and answer your questions. I love that my neighborhood is surrounded by fields because it means we can run the dogs very easily, have wildflowers in the summer and explore with our nephew. I love our neighbors. We only have 5 houses on our block but we are like a family. Next to our house is an Art Park created & maintained (somewhat) by youth. I love that there are children in our neighborhood. There is no convenient public transit. You can rent a bike from The Hub or Fender Bender--you could borrow one of our bikes if you are short like us & if our bikes are available. We are located a 10-15 minute bike ride from Southwest Detroit, Woodbridge, the Cass Corridor, Wayne State area, Detroit Institute of Art & the library. We do have a few other spaces where more people can sleep including a 2nd guest room, the library day bed and the loft's queen size mattress. If you are traveling with a small group that would like to stay a short amount of time, please ask about the other rooms. We have had small groups do retreats at our house. The upstairs living room is very sweet for meetings since there are 2 couches and space to sit on the carpet with lots of pillows. Also our Smart TV could be handy. Guest AccessPrivate bedroom. The SpaceThe John Mason House is Detroit's oldest brick residence in Detroit's oldest neighborhood, Corktown. Named after the brewer who commissioned the house in 1852, the JMH sits just off of Michigan Avenue eight blocks from the center of downtown Detroit. The house itself has gone through many uses in its long life, and now currently serves as my residence and occasionally an ambassador to people visiting this great city, whether they are just coming from the suburbs or from much further afield. Previously the house served as full time bed and breakfast, so each bedroom contains a unique theme (which I didn't change) as well as its own private bathroom. This listing is for the Fire Room, which is painted a deep red, is furnished with a queen bed and has a sable stone bathroom with jacuzzi tub. It is on the second floor of the house and has windows with northern, western and southern exposure. The rest of the house besides the bedrooms is available for all guests to utilize. There is a sitting area with a wood-burning fireplace, a dining area and a kitchen with an 8 burner Viking range. The JMH also has a large, fenced back yard perfect for relaxing in during the warmer months. In addition to me, my girlfriend JeanMarie is a frequent visitor (and she may check you in), and for this spring we have a visiting French journalist, Nastasia, living in the top bedroom. We also have a dog named Abby - she is a 2 1/2 year old brindle pit mix who was rescued from Detroit. She is very sweet. The Corktown neighborhood itself has a lot to offer for visitors to Detroit. Located just eight blocks from the center of the city, it is very convenient for every Detroit activity. We are approximately one mile from the Foxtown entertainment district, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Hart Plaza and the Riverfront and just a little bit more to the Renaissance Center and the historic Eastern Market. As well, cultural landmarks such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Motown Museum and the Heidelberg Project are all within three miles. For local food and drink, very close to the house is PJ's Lager House bar, which is well known for its live music offerings. Also nearby is Nemo's bar and grill, which is Detroit's best sports bar. Located a little further away are Slow's BBQ, Mudgie's Deli, Le Petit Zinc bar, Sugar House bar, Onassis Coney Island and many others. For those who like to cook in house the Honey Bee Market is just down the street, and of course the Eastern Market is easily accessible on Tuesday nights and all day Saturday. As for the little details, there is wireless internet, but no cable television. The washer and drier are available for use if necessary, and linens, towels and basic toiletries will be provided. Street parking is also available.

Please make this request to us by 9am that Saturday or Sunday morning. The option is toast, eggs, coffee or tea or oatmeal for a healthier choice. We love our walkability to groceries at Whole Foods and Comerica Park/Ford Field - 4 blocks on each side - as well as other nearby venues for a variety of activities. Uber comes to the porch within an average of 2-3 minutes. Getting AroundOur recommendation for the best way to arrive from DTW AIRPORT - UBERx! Cheapest and fastest - 20 min. drive only! Cost: $23-35 one-way. There is LIMITED public transportation in Detroit. Buses are not reliable, safe or recommended. The People Mover is downtown but only runs in a small circle. CAR or BIKE is vital in Detroit unless walking to nearby venues. We rent bicycles, helmets and bike locks, if desired! BIKE RENTALS: Ask about our bike rentals ($10/day plus $50 returnable deposit.) TAXI: We don't recommend our cab services here, either. Instead try an Uber or Lyft (we'll give you a $25 off coupon code for your first ride.) Other Things to Note- Check-in and Check-out times are somewhat strict as we have high-turnover but do not hesitate to ask for an accommodation. In most cases, later check-in times are OK. If we have a guest with us the night before your stay, please understand that early check-in is not offered as we need time to thoroughly clean your room. - There are no windows in the bedroom itself but two garden-level windows are connected to the room by the open-floor plan in the room adjacent with large door opening letting in some light to the bedroom. Blinds can be opened and closed for your comfort as the room will be dark for your sleeping pleasure, if desired! - ARE YOU A HOST, too???
