Stunning artist's turn of the century, private home is available for rent by the week. Filled with antiques, art, and collections, this charming home has a lot of thoughtful updates and amenities for your group. The main level has an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, fireplace, formal dining room, living room, den, gorgeous large sun porch for entertaining, full farm style kitchen, full bathroom with attached laundry, and two bedrooms, each featuring queen sized beds and lake views.
In the lower level, the two lake view bedrooms are cozy and separated by bathrooms with one shared shower. Each bedroom has its own entrance.
Walk down towards the lake to your own private deck and beach house, fully stocked with rafts, chairs, and umbrellas for your days on the beach. Unparalleled views of the sunset. This deck is one of the only ones on the beach, and is perfect for sipping your favorite beverage!
Due to the nature of all the stairs within this property, guests with certain physical impairments may find this a challenge. There are 20-25 steps down from the road to the house, then another 20 or so to the beach.
Please note: because of the short turn around time between renters, and the unknown risks of potential pet damage, we are not allowing pets at this time. However, we have dogs and stay there, so if anyone has high sensitivity or allergies, we cannot guarantee totally "pet free" accommodations.

We have a handyman, too, if something goes wrong, and a cleaning crew. The NeighborhoodThe house is one of only a few century plus old homes along the lakeshore, and is down from the road in a gorgeous wooded area, which makes it serene and quiet. Walk to the town of Douglas or take the chain ferry across the harbor to Saugatuck. Ox-bow school is a stone's throw, as is a number of galleries and hikes in the area. Rent a paddle board or a bicycle up the street at Just Add Water! Climb Mt. Baldhead! Getting AroundThe Inter-Urban bus shuttle can be called to take you anywhere. Great for kids! (URL HIDDEN)
Bike rentals at Just Add Water, just down the street.
Otherwise, most everything is walkable. Other Things to NoteCotton sheets, hair dryers, blankets, pillows and towels provided. Two bedrooms have queen sized beds, one bedroom has a full sized bed, and one bedroom has 2 twin beds.
We will provide bath towels, kitchen towels, and separate beach towels to be used on the sand. Good quality basics like liquid hand soap, dish detergent, shampoo are there as well.
Feel free to use what's in the kitchen, in terms of spices, cookware, serve ware, etc. We do not, unfortunately, have a dish washer. Some renters prefer to bring their own plasticware and paper plates for this reason.
We have plenty of fans, but alas, we do not have central air conditioning. This usually doesn't pose a problem on the shore of Lake Michigan, with breezes, etc. but there may be a warm night this summer.
Lots of paperback books for you to read and enjoy. Board games and puzzles for rainy days.
Other Things to Note:
Check in is 5pm Sunday, and check out is 11am the following Sunday. Our house cleaning crew needs time to make things ready. If you're needing special time considerations, email us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
