The SpaceOur cabin is located on a remote lake deep in the Mississagi Provincial Park in Northern Ontario, a very rural and rugged area of the province. It is accessible only by hiking over moderate terrain and canoeing two lakes. The hike/canoe in takes about two hours – minus rest stops, exploring and picnics! No portaging is required, as two canoes are cached on each lake. The cabin itself is a cozy and comfortable hand-built A-frame cottage on a sandy beach with a wood-fired sauna. It is the only cabin on the lake and the isolated wilderness setting means there is no electricity or running water. Water jugs filled in the lake for drinking, candles and gas lanterns for light, a coleman stove for cooking and woodstove for warmth make this the perfect escape for those looking for back-to-basic rustic comfort - with a touch of elegance! Guests should have a solid background in hiking, canoeing, and not be afraid to spend time alone in the outdoors. Guest AccessOur guests have full and exclusive access to the cabin and its surroundings, which includes a fold-down bed downstairs, two amazingly comfortable 6" foam mattresses upstairs. There are two outdoor campfire pits, a beautiful sand beach for swimming, two canoes with paddles (bring your own life jackets), a woodstove to heat the cabin if necessary, a clean outhouse with a magnificent view, a lakeside hand-built picnic table and a beautiful cedar hand-built sauna. Millions of stars are an extra bonus! Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to email guests about any questions or concerns prior to their visit and we will mail them detailed map and an information package for their stay. They will stop in at Kegos Camp nearby to get a key for the cabin from my parents (they own Kegos Camp) and then head in for their adventure! The NeighborhoodThis part of Northern Ontario is remote, rugged, peaceful and serene. Frobel Lake is an isolated, spring-fed lake miles from civilization and is located in a provincial park which was created specifically because of the old growth forests around Frobel Lake, which boasts large white pines up to 250 years old. Looncalls and moose sightings are frequent....we can't say enough about how beautiful this place is! Getting AroundOur cabin is located on a remote lake, in the Mississagi Valley, within the Algoma District of North Eastern Ontario, Canada. The cabin is located 45 miles north of Highway 17 (the TransCanada Highway), between Sudbury (150 miles southeast) and Sault Ste. Marie (90 miles southwest). Sault Ste. Marie has an airport where you can fly to with Air Canada or Porter Airlines. It is about 3 hours from Sudbury and about 1.5 hours from Sault Ste. Marie, not including hiking/paddling time. The access road to the hiking trail to the cabin is accessible by a short (unused) logging road just off of Highway 129. Other Things to NoteThis is a back country camping experience with the benefit of a lovely cabin at the end of the trail, so you will need to bring in all your own food - we recommend packing light! All bedding, cooking supplies, utensils, plates etc. are provided. Because of the remote location of the cabin, we aren't able to get in to clean it ourselves between guests, so you are expected to leave it spic and span for the next guests!

We adore it up here and we are certain you will too! It's always best to plan your days ahead of time.

Norm’s Log Cabin is located near the end of Fairbank Point. It is 3.3 miles from the ferry dock and 6.1 miles from town. Built in 1992 with large pine logs, the cabin has modern conveniences while keeping a traditional look. Every part of the cabin was recently refinished and updated in keeping with a rustic appeal. It has 100 ft waterfront with great views of King’s Bay (Sturgeon Bay). The sun sets just a little to the left over the water, creating great evening views. This is a great area for kayaking, canoeing, and boating. As the pictures show, it has an open kitchen & living room layout with the loft overlooking both areas. There is a natural round rock fireplace in the center of the cabin (firewood provided). The loft has a queen and twin bed. The loft has its own private outside balcony. The main floor bedroom has a queen size bed. The cabin sleeps 5 comfortably. There is one bathroom with sink, toilet, shower, washer, dryer, towels and linens provided. The kitchen has electric stove, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, cooking utensils and dishes. WiFi Internet is provided (good enough for Youtube or Netflix). There is a 43” Vizio TV and a Blue-ray/DVD. The TV only gets 2 local stations, but has smart/internet connectivity. There is a large front deck to relax on with a grill, table and chairs. The front yard is good sized for kids to play. Close to the water is a fire pit with log style seating and firewood is provided. Due to being near the end of the point and surrounded by the lake, there are very few mosquitoes or black flies. I intend to have a dock made and in place by rental season, but currently there is no dock. There is a separate little Log Cabin Sauna about 25ft away from the cabin. Enjoy a traditional Finnish style sauna with wood fired stove. (firewood provided) No Pets, No Smoking Peak Season (Mid-June thru Mid-Sept) rent by the week only (Saturday 2:30 pm till next Saturday 9:30 am). Off peak season (Mid-Sept - June), there is a 3 night minimum. Notes - Due to pine floors (soft wood) being refinished there will be no pets allowed and I will ask that you take shoes off inside the cabin.
