    The Wayside Inn cottage is located at Lake Margrethe in Grayling, Michigan. The main bedroom has a queen bed, the front bedroom has bunk beds and the living room features a sleeper sofa. The cottage sleeps six people maximum. The cottage also features a gas log fireplace, reclining chairs, cable TV, DVD & WiFi. It is spotless inside and out and is non-smoking only. Outside the kitchen door you will find a gas grill to complement the full kitchen. The cottage is fully furnished with everything you need. Just bring your clothes and toothbrush! The cottage is located on an access road three houses from the Lake Margrethe. It is a half mile from the entrance to Camp Grayling. For the winter we are on the Blue Bear Trail Connector and the snowmobiling is great! Hiking, mountain bike & bicycle trails cross country skiing, fishing and all outdoor activities for winter and summer are right here. 3 houses from Lake Margrethe (approx. 300 feet) on an access road, swimming, fishing, no docking priveleges. 1/2 mile from the entrance to Camp Grayling. Cross Country Skiing, Downhill Skiing, Tubing, Fishing, Swimming, Snowmobiling, Hunting, mountain biking, hiking trails, bicycle path to Hartwick Pines (12 miles one way)

      The SpaceCozy, warm and humble, take a step back in time to enjoy the beauty of the world renowned, blue ribbon, Au Sable River. Settled on 11.3 acres, 700 feet of river frontage surrounds the property on three sides. Multiple, private walking paths through the overall 32 acre property, some leading to a private spring fed pond, nestled in the forest, perfect for ice skating. Mary's Trail takes you into a private 10 acre section of our Hartwick Pines style forest where only the oldest and largest trees are standing, leaving you awe inspired in their towering beauty. The cabin is 2,000 square feet with a large wood burning fireplace. 3 bedrooms (one queen bed on main level, two rooms upstairs one with two twin beds and the other with a twin over a full bunk), and one large loft with a bunk bed and a pull-out couch. You can sleep a total of 11 people. We can comfortably accommodate 2 adult couples and up to 7 children. 2 full baths (one up stairs, one on main level) and a Washer and dryer. 1,000+ square feet of riverside deck for outside enjoyment. Bonfire pits. Fishing amenities are outstanding, located just downstream of the Holy Waters and just above the calm waters of Connors flats. Uncle Tom's Cabin has a private boat/canoe launch on the property for your put-in or take-out convenience. Private access to the Wakeley Lake Trail System, where miles of beautiful trails await you less than a half mile from your doorstep! You can enjoy Fishing, hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting and much, much more. Uncle Tom's Cabin is a recreational DREAM come true. Getting AroundThis cottage is located 4 miles from the town of Grayling. Other Things to NoteFall is a very wonderful time to come to enjoy the color. It's beautiful and a perfect time of the year to combine with a winery tour toward Traverse City.

          The SpaceMany picnic tables and benches on the property for privacy. Best fishing spot on the river, beautiful privacy, though only 10 minutes to town. Use the outdoor bbq grill and in season vegetables and herbs from the garden. We love to cook, so there will be plenty of spices, etc to use. Also numerous teas and coffee for your use. Lemonade or Iced Teas available too. Granola and yogurt to start your day. Larger breakfast available at a B&B rate. Or feel free to purchase groceries and make your own. Well equipped house, though bring your own hotspot for streaming Netflix or watch our DVD movies. (The coffee shop in town offers free wifi). Plenty of board games, puzzles and books. There are also 2 lake beaches within 10 minutes (one very small and never crowded). They are also great for Kayaking on. Higgins & Houghton Lake are further away. We are 1 hour to Traverse City and less than 2 hours to Mackinac Island for day trips. There are 2 bedrooms to rent: 1. The Green Room: This has 2 double beds pushed together as a luxurious king or separated out. A private bath ensuite, a desk, sitting chair. TV with the DVD player. Bluetooth speaker for your music. We have eagles, blue heron, hawks, woodpeckers, nut hatchers, warblers, fox, mink, deer and plenty of fish to be seen. Mary loves baking and cooking and being in the garden. If Mike is around he is usually found in the river or at the grill. This Spring there will be a new puppy so we will be busy training her and expanding our garden. With 10 acres we can interact or have plenty of privacy. The NeighborhoodGrayling now has 4 microbrews in town. This is a treat for going out at night. An historic movie theater, plenty of antiques, art galleries, Michigan gift shops, fly fishing and outdoor clothing stores. An upscale / casual dining brand new restaurant is opening up spring 2017. Best breakfast spot is the Grayling Restaurant. Coffee shop with wifi in town too. Or shop the farm market - and come back to the river and cook here. Also kayak to Gates Restaurant down river for breakfast / lunch or dinner. Getting AroundFor flying in Traverse City Airport is the closest 1 hour, then Flint Airport 2 hours. Detroit Airport is approximate 3.25 hours. There is no Uber or Lyft in Grayling, so designated drivers Other Things to NoteThere are up to 4 Kayaks available for rent and an additional security deposit. We are dog friendly for happy dogs (and you must clean up after them and they cannot stay in the home with you). No firearms allowed or weapons of any kind (regardless of your permit). No smoking. Two full bathrooms and updated stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. From the lounge you overlook the river 40 feet away. Additional accommodation up to another 7 guests is available in the bunk houses plus the exclusive use of the sauna. Besides the deck in front of the cabin there are 2 docks on the river with easy access to the famous blue ribbon trout stream and family friendly canoeing down stream to the many boat launches.

          Enjoy a wonderful luxury home experience on one of northern Michigan's most famous rivers. The two-and-a-half bathroom home has three bedrooms and two loft rooms that are versatile and can accommodate a number of guests. The outdoor deck (riverside), the many windows, and the long kitchen bar are among the many unique features. However, the Rumford fireplace with Black River Michigan stone on the exterior is the centerpiece attraction. The house also features a three-zone geothermal heating and cooling system. The upper lofts are reached by ascending an iron-rod spiral staircase. The ground-floor bedrooms feature foam beds. The master bathroom includes a stone-tiled Jacuzzi tub and shower highlighted with inlaid Petoskey stone. WiFi access and Dish Network satellite television are also available. In addition, you can access your personal Netflix account via Apple TV if desired. Outdoor activities include easy trail access to the nearby Rayburn property (state-owned) and/or Hanson Hills on the edge of town for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, or disc golf, depending on the season. In addition, there are miles of two-tracks, as well as hiking and skiing trails in nearby national forests. Kayak and canoe rental is just five minutes away in downtown Grayling. The local bike shop also has rentals for the town's many bike paths. And of course, the AuSable River provides some of the best fly-fishing in the country! River access is just steps away from the house, where the water is clear and shallow, and the river bottom sandy for leisurely walks in the great AuSable.             We are located right on the corner of West Bear Lake Road and M-72NE. We have The Blue Buck on 72 on one side of us and Shirley's Café on the other side. Across the street is the trailhead, which leads you to over 100 miles for snowmobiling in the winter, hunting during the season, dirk-biking or 4 wheeling in the summer. We are just .4 miles from 2 of the many lakes in Kalkaska. Cub Lake is known for the quietness and fishing. Bear Lake is a fun/All sports Lake and is also the 2nd clearest lake in the entire state of Michigan!! It looks as if you are in the islands...it's breathtaking. Linens and towels (except beach towels) are provided. There is also access to washing machine and dryer for guest use only. There is also space to park trailer(s), ATV's, snow mobiles, etc. (Sorry...wifi is not available or provided. Guests and residents use their own cellular hot spots via smart-phones).             You are going to love this sweet little northern Michigan getaway located on 3 acres and adjoining thousands of acres of Wakeley lake area federal and with miles of hiking trails. Lots of great fishing and swimming lakes close by. But-- the main attraction to this location is the famous Au Sable River mainstream-- just 500 yards from the cabin. This river is nationally known for its world class fly fishing for brown, rainbow, and brook trout. The Au Sable river is also a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, and tubing with several local rental liveries in grayling. Cabin has 2 double bed futons and a double bed air mattress that can be used if needed to sleep up to 6 guests. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen with everything-- just like home. Nothing you need to bring. All bedding, towels and washcloths provided. Both charcoal and gas grills provided. Basically-- all you need to bring is your clothes, food, and drink and you are good to go! Pet friendly. Huge yard with big campfire pit and the campfire wood is provided! Picnic table and lawn chairs. A great place for the kids with swing set, sandbox, yard games, basketball hoop, horseshoes, and more. Just a 500 yard walk down the road to the Au Sable river mainstream to a great spot to swim, fish, canoe, tube, kayak.             Located on the Upper Manistee River seven miles west of Grayling, Michigan and just south of M-72, the house sits on a bluff about fifty feet back from and overlooking the river. There is a stairway down to a four foot by eight foot dock which gives access to the water for such things as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, wading, tubing, fly fishing or wildlife viewing. The river is approximately three to four feet deep just in front of the dock making it perfect for an afternoon dip in the heat of the summer sun. To the right of the dock are wooden steps going into the river making easy access for youngsters and/or fly fisherman to reach shallower waters. At daybreak and again in the late afternoon it is not unusual to find a Great Blue Heron quietly stalking it's prey in the shallows just across the river. At the top of the bluff is a hammock which overlooks the river and seems to beckon one to lay down and rest under the swaying pine trees - just for a little while. If you are looking for a Retreat, this is the place. Leave your cares at home because there is no place for them here. At the end of the street there is a private undeveloped park. The park offers solitude and another access point to the river. Sometimes wildlife, including deer, can be found drinking from the river at daybreak or early evening. The park area also makes a great place to lean against a tree and read a book or just relax and watch the trout rise during a hatch. The Upper Manistee River has been classified as a Natural River. This means that future development will have to meet certain standards - standards that will help to maintain the quality of the river and the river environment. The Natural Rivers Act along with the Upper Manistee River Association will be working together to make sure that there is a healthy trout population too. The house sits on a stretch of the Manistee River that is well known for it's Brook and Brown trout population. It is, also, a well kept secret that a 20' Brown lives under the dock here! This section of the river is for fly fishing only and is open all year round. The Catch and Eat season runs from the last Saturday in April thru September 30. The rest of the year is Catch and Release only. Den: The den has a full size pull-out sofa bed, a matching chair and footstool. There is, also, a small Secretary and chair for you to write letters and or postcards to your friends and relatives. In one corner is a TV with an attached VCR/DVD Player. The .flat screen TV is a cable feed and therefore has many stations to choose from. There is a bookshelf with Cd's, DVDs, VCR Tapes and assorted reading material. And there is a Video Rental Store in Grayling (20 minutes away) if you are looking for a special movie. In the kitchen pantry you will find playing cards and a few board games. Laundry: The house has a small laundry room with sink, washer and dryer for your needs. We provide Laundry Soap, Softener, and Bleach. Feel free to bring your own supplies or just use ours. Garage: The house has a one-car attached garage with an automatic opener. Although there is only a single car width driveway, it is long enough to accommodate a truck/car and trailer. We park our Jeep Liberty and 19' I/O Bowrider in the driveway with ease. Also, there is room to park extra cars on the street during the summer months. Pets are welcome with written permission and a small fee/pet.

We're located on a prime stretch of the “Holy Waters”, a 'flies only', 'catch and release' section nationally recognized by people all over the world. Simply walk out the front door and wade into the river to experience the pleasure of fishing in the world class AuSable River. Grayling is home to the Manistee and AuSable River, which are among the premier trout streams in the nation, offering over one hundred miles of cool, crystal clear streams to explore. Visitors will enjoy the convenience of many road access points and public fishing sites. Some areas are best navigated from a canoe, drift boat, raft or riverboat. Boat access is near by. Begin or end your kayak or canoeing trip from our dock. Or visit the nearby canoe and kayak liveries in Grayling or Roscommon for your float on the AuSable River. For those of you that enjoy winter sports, the cabin is located inside the snow-belt region of Michigan. The annual snowfall in this region is significant. Just bring your, clothes, food, and toys! *** The River (fishing, canoeing, kayaking) *** This portion of the Upper Manistee River has been given special designation by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a 'Michigan Natural River' because of it's pristine water quality and abundant and unspoiled natural environs and wildlife. This section of the river is designated for fly fishing only and offers some of Michigan's best trout fishing. Brown, Brook, and Rainbow trout abound. Nearby fisherman landmarks are Yellow Tree, Burnt Cabin, Pearls on a Necklace, and the CCC Bridge. The river also affords excellent canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and swimming opportunities. Two canoe liveries are located nearby. Many inland lakes as well as Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are nearby offering several fine beaches and fishing. *** ORV, Snowmobiling *** Off the river the area is prime for ORV enthusiasts in the summertime and snowmobilers in the winter.
