The SpaceThis is my summer house and summer headquarters for Dr. Michigan founder of SharklessSea ( (See on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) ) ) It is in Bluffton neighborhood (a peninsula between Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake) famous for the actors colony and summer home to Buster Keaton. It is one block from a small Park on Muskegon Lake where you can kayak across to the Muskegon State Park sand dunes and and see all the sailboats and the ferry to Milwaukee and maybe even a Laker (Great Lakes freighter.) I like sailing, I have a 15 Supercat on the Lake Michigan beach and am working on my old sunfish. The Pere Marquette beach regularly wins awards for best beach in West Michigan. This area is probably the perfect place for sailing in Michigan with a protected Lake and access to Lake Michigan....and the world. My house is a blend of original and modernized. I tore up the carpet and the floors are wood and have not been refinished yet which doesn't bother me personally but eventually I will finish them . Most rooms have new paint. What's nice is the living room has lots of open area. We have games for the rainy day and a small yard to play in and for the kids to camp. We have a wagon to tow to the beach and a two person sit on top kayak and the single sit inside kayak. Guest AccessA two person safe sit-on-top kayak and life vests. We have a PlayStation three. Have lots of interesting books. We have a grill Electric skillet that I use for making breakfast, and a crockpot. we have a one person kayak as well. Interaction with GuestsI may or may not see you I have a box for you to get the key. The NeighborhoodThe closeness to two beaches MapQuest my address to see we're on a peninsula between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan a couple of the rooms have a view of Muskegon Lake and one block away you can watch the yacht club race sailboats regularly. The bus stops right in front of the house. We're about a half mile away from the ferry station that goes to Milwaukee Getting AroundBus pickup across street Other Things to NoteMuskegon is a very friendly town has some good restaurants including an Indian restaurant one of my favorites and has two brewpubs are pretty good on the way to the house to pass by about a mile of sailboats on Lakeshore Drive. The nice thing about the pier Marquette beach the quarter-mile walk through our neighborhood is that it's free and you don't have to walk clear across the beach to put in your stand up paddleboard or Windsurfer or kayak the beach is very close to the road

By location, view, amenities and rental rate, this house is a stand-out from other local rentals. My late parents bought this house next door to their Lake Michigan home in the 1970s for use by family and friends. This house was totally re-modeled and re-furnished to a high and comfortable level in 2011. Beautiful, new stairs to the beach (with seating areas with panoramic lake views) added in October, 2013 but washed away by the record high waters & storms of 2016. The beach remains accessible but its by path through the dune grass, or via a neighbor's stairs (which survived the storms) or via the nearby State Park's stairs. The house is situated on a sand dune bluff far back from the road (Scenic Drive) on a multi-acre wooded lot. The view of Lake Michigan is spectacular in all seasons. Sunsets are particularly stunning. When the State of Michigan adopted a license plate with a setting sun years ago, they had this property's view in mind. See our reviews: this spot is a Lake Michigan gem. The beach has been narrowed by our cottage by the high water but is wide and sandy on the State Park land which starts about a thousand or so feet south all the way to the Muskegon Channel. Even on the state land, the beach is secluded and visited only by occasional campers from the State Park. The surf is usually low, making the beach usable for windsurfing or a small catamaran or sailboat which could be safely left on the beach (but you would have to launch at the State Park or Duck Lake beach because the sand dune face is steep and off-limits to protect it from erosion.) The interior is completely new and modern. Although lake breezes are virtually constant, the house has ceiling fans in every room to assure comfort. It is a traffic-free drive of about 4 miles to ample shopping, including 'big box' stores, in North Muskegon, but the best lunch -- a Lake Michigan institution -- is 'Ruth Ann's' ice cream and sandwiches about 3 minutes walk down Scenic Drive. Keywords: This is a beach house with all of the amenities of home. Internet access (cable modem) & 'Extended Network' Verizon cell service.

I knew Bluffton had a charm all its own. It is nestled between the bluffs of Lake Michigan and the shores of Muskegon Lake. There is evidence of street car rails on Thompson Street adjacent to Cherry Street. The homes are all different; to say, older, remodeled and with much character. I purchased this property in 1999 and used it for a monthly rental several years. However, at some point, I realized it could be a great weekly vacation property. It was this cottage(of our 2) that got the most attention last year with extensive remodeling. The new Shower Room in the lower level turned out very nice. New windows on both levels and some more paint dressed up the interior as well as outside. The outbuilding that we use for storage is sporting a new roof and front French door. Your visit will be comfortable and relaxed in this clean cottage dressed up with lots of antique furniture and is tastefully decorated. We can only accommodate our SUMMER Season guests from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. It's very important that any guests or visitors SMOKE OUTSIDE ONLY. Upper Level Living Area: Harvest Oak simulated wood flooring is in the living area & master bedroom of the Upper Level. Two antique, matching swag stained glass hanging lamps are at each end of the living room. An HDTV is mounted out of the way on the wall next to the couch & easy chair. The Flat Screen TV can be seen from any angle with it's 4 Way Mount. A Blu Ray DVD Player can provide your own personal movies. A nice stereo below the TV is also a docking station for you to charge your unit while playing your very own tunes. A desk with easy access plugs as your Charging Station is convenient in the Living Room. An antique quarter-cut oak pedestal table/4 chairs faces the yard & wildlife feeding stations. New windows have been added all around. The queen bed in the master bedroom has a nice wood headboard to match the 1920's antique dresser/mirror & bedside table. An antique student folding desk seat is nice for tying shoes or changing clothes. The 2nd bedroom has a large closet, dresser along-side adult sized bunk beds. The bath has a shower/tub, along with the sink/cabinet & stool. A list is on the fridge of all the items in the kitchen & where they are located. Everything needed in a kitchen is there. A beautifully finished antique chifferobe(chest of drawers with clothes hanging area & mirror) is our nicest antique furnishing. There are many more top quality antique furnishings throughout the cottage. The TV/Stereo cabinet area is located more out of the way and more visible on it's side to side swivel. A portable stereo/CD player is also provided. We also added new carpeting in the entrance area steps. The privacy this space can provide for that extra couple or In-laws to retreat to is handy. It could also be used as a 'master suite' with all the extra space besides the sleeping area. Another use could be as a separate area for the kids to watch their own tv programs. It's not advisable to leave kids in this area that need to be watched more closely. It has it's own private entrance from outside or can be accessed inside through the laundry room. Along with the sink in the kitcehette, there is a double laundry sink, a sitting only toilet/stool, large shower(newly remodeled), clothes washer & dryer. Landscaping/Yard: We do some things to make the yard area better each year. We add more annuals & perennials. A wooden fence along the back border is nicely stained & looks great, while providing privacy. The rest of the plant life that fills in along the borders also give a natural privacy aspect. Although, the yard is one of the largest in the neighborhood , people walking by hardly notice it's being used with the greenery border growth. There is another area farther away from the cottage with a 2nd picnic table. We call this 'Boston's Nature Preserve'. Tiger Lillies surround this setting. Two bird feeding stations, corn holders for squirrels, & hummingbird liquid holder brings in an abundance of wildlife for some outstanding outdoor entertainment. The yard has sunny areas throughout the day, but is mostly shaded with the surrounding beech, oak, maple, & pine trees. An awning covers a large area of the patio off the back of the cottage. Off street parking for 2 cars.
