The SpaceVibrance & tranquility coexist here!
The house is, literally, out in the country, sitting on an acre & surrounded by cornfields. (The movie, "Field of Dreams" comes to mind.) The rooms are beautifully opened up from Victorian days, yet still maintain original oak floors and trim. The kitchen is state of the art; windows & light abound, air flow during summer is perfect. (We do have central air conditioning, but rarely need it thanks to ceiling fans in all rooms). During winter, an efficient wood burning stove augments the central heat.
4 people sleep comfortably, 6 if your are renting the whole house. The Guest Suite is upstairs, completely private, 2 bedrooms (1 queen bed, the other has 2 singles), sitting room has piano, laptop table & lamp. Bath is full of light, with soaking tub and shower.
Large yards north, west and east offer plenty of outdoor entertainment possibilities, and there is an apple orchard to the south. A fenced in back yard (south) offers a patio, herb & vegetable garden, along with a barbque.
This property is an ideal location for meetings & small retreats, or an escape from more formal or work related activities. Catering is available. I am a fabulous cook and love to host. I can offer anything from light brunch, to elegant dinners or buffet style international feasts, indoors and out. Cost to be negotiated.
I do expect to travel some throughout the year, and can make the house/property available for a week(s) at a time while I am gone. A property manager will be available for emergencies. Guest AccessThe whole house, and gardens, is accessible to guests, except my bedroom. I encourage guests to explore it, as it is full of wonderful furniture & folk art from my years of international living and travel. The
refrigerator is available and ingredients for a continental breakfast provided, along with a coffee maker, coffee & teas Interaction with GuestsI am a combination of gregarious host and hermit. I love interacting with guests in so many ways, then retreating to my own room for privacy.
Because I respect privacy, I can be interactive or relatively invisible, depending on guests preferences. I expect to be staying in my house when guests are here, but if guests want to rent the house privately, I can spend a few enjoyable days staying with friends.
I do expect to travel some throughout the year, and can make the house/property available for a week at a time while I am gone. A property manager will be available for emergencies. The NeighborhoodI am 12 miles outside of East Lansing and Michigan State University. As you will see from my pictures, I'm in a very rural setting. I have several neighbors, but most of my neighborhood is the corn and soybean fields.
I love being close to MSU and East Lansing/Okemos, yet able to retire to such peace and abundance Getting AroundThere is no public transport outside of East Lansing. The property is located 3 miles from a major highway, but guests will need access to their own transportation. Plenty of parking available.
Depending on my own schedule, I may be available to help provide transportation to and from East Lansing, Lansing, Detroit or Flint.
Airports are Lansing International, Flint Bishop, Detroit International and Grand Rapids. I-69 and 496 offer easy high speed access, local roads are scenic. Other Things to NoteThere is a 1300 sq ft pole barn on the property housing a dye studio and fabric design studio. I commonly spend time there with friends. Guests are welcome to explore that as well, when I am present
