The SpaceThis house features original art and art furniture. The owner, a college art teacher, enjoys creating imaginative experiences. The 2 bedrooms are upstairs. A king bedroom adjoins a private bathroom. A room with 2 twins uses the downstairs bathroom. Each bedroom has a mini-fridge, TV, internet, electric fireplace, and window A/C. Kitchen is well equipped. PLAN TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN LINENS for 2 twin beds and a king bed, plus all towels. IF YOU NEED LINENS SUPPLIED THERE WILL BE A $75 CHARGE AT THE TIME YOU ARRIVE. Please note: there is a guest room that is separate from your area. It is named the Birds Nest B&B and is rented separately - breakfasts included - which I prepare next door. There is a private bathroom I access from the atrium that is not included in your rental space. You can use the clothes washer but is also used by the host - you enter it from your kitchen and I enter from the back porch. You can lock the door from your kitchen to the laundry area. Dryer is in the kitchen. Guest AccessThere is a push button lock system. A code will be assigned to you. Interaction with GuestsThis will not be a working B&B for your group while you are in residence; I discontinued offering breakfasts during peak season so please disregard all my reviews that indicate breakfasts are included. I do not access your reserved areas during your stay. Please read the important info previously noted in "The Space" category. I live next door. The NeighborhoodThe village is neat as a pin. North Park is across the road and has a picnic shelter and bar-B-Q grills, clean bathrooms, and a boat launch. It is a grassy park. The sandy beach is a short stroll of two blocks along the bike trail which runs through North Park. As this is an agricultural region, during harvest there will be farm trucks passing. Things do quiet down at night but daytime traffic can be lively (as you are also on the wine trails). Getting AroundThere is a bus system but I do not recommend you rely on it. A car is needed. Other Things to NoteNo smoking in the house or on the back deck - you may smoke on the front patio. One small pet MAY be accepted after discussions.

The SpaceAcross the road at North Park is a launch site for boats and a picnic shelter with BBQs, picnic tables, and clean bathrooms. If you bring a kayak you can launch it there. That is also the site of the Saturday Suttons Bay Farmers Market. You will find our village surprisingly upscale, clean, colorful, and picturesque. Our movie theater features first run films and art films in a charming retro setting. Our cafes surprise city folks with sophisticated fare. Our boutiques rival those in other upscale resort areas like Martha's Vineyard. You can safely walk at night, streets and yards are tidy, people are friendly, and all-in-all you may start looking at houses for sale during your journey - it happens all the time. Guest AccessAll common areas are for your use and there is a 24-hour coffee/tea service. Your room has a key. Please remember that others are sharing the house and sound travels so tune down your TV (turn it off at night) and speak is soft tones when others are in the house. Thanks!!! Interaction with GuestsI try to read my guests preferences and be available on their terms. The NeighborhoodThe property fronts on a busy county road and, being an agricultural area, farm trucks and tractors go by. An inlet of Lake MIchigan (Suttons Bay) is directly across the intersection. The sandy beach is a five minute stroll along the bike trail which is directly across the road. I am on the route to the peninsula's 40 wineries, cideries, and distilleries; all have tasting rooms. Sleeping Bear Dunes is maybe 40 minutes if you stop to smell the roses along the way. I have maps. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park is a half hour or so drive and the journey is scenic. It is a must-do sight. Celebrities with ties to the area include chef and TV personality (The Chew) Mario Batalli (owns a summer home here and buys his groceries in Suttons Bay at Hansen's); Madonna's father (Tony) and stepmother (Joan) live here and own a winery (Cicconi). Tim Allen is a landholder. Ginger Zee (Good Morning America, and Dancing With the Stars) was married here and loves the area. It goes on and on. Getting AroundA car is necessary. But it is a great biking area too and you can bring bikes or rent them from Nick at Suttons Bay Bikes which is very close by. Ask Nick about biking to the wineries - he has maps for that. But you can also arrange a limo ride or party bus ride to visit wineries if you don't have a designated driver - I have brochures for several of those services. Other Things to NoteParallel park along the road in front of the house - it is well marked. Enter under the white garden arbor and stay to your right as you meander around the weeping mulberry tree. Welcome.

Linens are luxurious. Guest AccessYour room faces the back of the property, which is North facing. You can hear the stream and waterfall. There is a private balcony seating two. Below is a deck which is shared by other guests. Interaction with GuestsThe host tries to stay out of the way so you can have more privacy. She lives next door. The NeighborhoodSuttons Bay village is both quaint and upscale. You can walk to everything from your suite. Across the intersection is a village bayfront park with picnic tables, a shelter, grills, and a boat launch. Three blocks away is a public beach with lots of sand and a marina. It is next to our library. Cafes, boutiques, and galleries are all located close by. You are at the gateway to three wine trails and only 40 scenic minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park. Getting AroundCars are needed. Off-street parking is located right in front of the building. Some guests fly into Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City and rent a car. The SpaceNorth Park West B&B has been offering delightful lodging for 22 years; during 2017 I operate as full-service Bed and Breakfast until June 26. I reopen August 24 and accept guests until Oct. 22. Guest AccessYour guest room has a key. When you arrive you park in front and enter under the white arbor. You will see the entry to the B&B on your right, behind the weeping tree. It has a leaded glass door. It will be unlocked for you. I prefer you arrive between four and six o'clock but other arrangements can be made with notice from you. Interaction with GuestsI live next to the main house in the small white building. I will see you at breakfast when I serve (8:30), and our paths may cross on occasion but please relax and enjoy the common areas. The NeighborhoodYou can walk to all the wonderful cafes, boutiques, the library, beach, theater, and galleries. Although I am in the village, my setting is lightly forested and natural; a meadow, wildflowers, and birds abound; it is not a manicured lot so if you are allergic to pollen my location may not work for you. The house fronts the road that leads to all the wineries and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park which is a must-see place. Getting AroundYou absolutely need a car. This is an agri-tourism area, not a city. Other Things to NoteLocal wine will be in your guestroom when you arrive. If you have food restrictions please inform me in advance of your visit or I may no be able to accommodate your preferences. My kitty, Tiger, is an outdoor cat but she does sneak in and I cannot seem to keep her out entirely so if you are allergic to cats please do not book here. Also be aware that our region is agricultural and farm trucks do go by the house. Please be tolerant!

Our internet speed is not fast, but you can stream movies, etc. weather, news, TV, etc. Here are just a few local destinations starting from nearest first: Leelanau Sands Casino, Eewaing Native American Museum, Silver Leaf Winery, Raftshol's Vineyards, Tandem Ciders, Corky's Bistro, Tamarack Gallery, Knot Just a Bar, Circa Winery, Parallel 45 Winery, Bay Theater, Will Case Jewelry, Eddie's Village Inn, 9 Bean Rows, Martha's Table, Wines and Vines Restaurant, Ciccone Winery, Shady Lane Winery, L Mawby Sparkling Wines, Dick's Pour House, The Happy Hour, Historic Fishtown, Carlson's Fisheries, The Cheese Shop, Leelanau Cheese, Nature's Gems Petoskey Stones, The Blue Bird, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Blu, M22 Store, Fusion and about 20 more wineries! ~ ASK FOR LAST MINUTE DISCOUNTS ~ I'm happy to discount if I've had a last minute cancellation (on the same or next day). Owner lives in separate dwelling on property and is available for extra needs and suggestions. My adult son also lives here, and my fenced three dogs, so security is never a problem. I have just added a Tiny House to my property. It is not visible from the inside of the Studio and it has its own parking, camp fire and outdoor area. Guest AccessThere is a large meadow and woods that are for your enjoyment. The fire pit is exclusively for your use. Ask for wood, if you need it. If you have trouble getting it started, I am happy to help. There are snowshoes for use in the winter, and beach equipment in the summer. *Please be aware that we are recovering from a record-breaking extreme winter. Many trees have fallen and my drive has suffered with potholes and uneven places. The whole community shares these after-effects and there is a waiting list for clean-ups and repairs. I still have a few down or leaning trees and brush piles. I also have a temporary vintage camper that I am renovating for vacationers' use. It not pretty, yet. However, none of this can be seen from The Studio windows. My driveway is always kept passable but it is a gravel two-track, rest assured that once you get to your cabin, the ambiance is lovely!* Interaction with GuestsI live on the property (about 250 feet from the Studio) and my home is shielded from your view by evergreens. I am available if you need anything at all, such as: firewood, extra linens, cooking supplies, advise on dining, entertainment, beaches, hiking, bargains etc. The Studio will be unlocked when you arrive and your keys are inside. You do not need to check in. Late night arrivals are fine. When you leave, just leave the keys and door unlocked, no need to check out. I will respect your absolute privacy except in emergencies. If you do want to share a beer or glass of wine by the fire, I'm very amenable, otherwise I will leave you undisturbed to enjoy the seclusion and quiet space. My adult son lives with me. He works nights at times but is very quiet. Having the extra person adds to security because someone is almost always available for any needs. The NeighborhoodI live on the edge of Tribal land. My neighbors are quiet and pleasant. There is a mix of types of homes: farmhouse, stickbuilt, mobile, modular, artisan and cabins. These are neatly kept and not in view of my cabin. Once a year, the residents are encouraged to put large items out for landfill pickup. This looks HORRIBLE! But please remember that it is just once a year and not a reflection of the everyday condition of our community. It is also very safe here, there is a fire station, EMT and police nearby. Getting AroundThere is no reliable public transit here. You will need a vehicle to get here. We do have wonderful bike trails and our roads have bike lanes. Other Things to NoteIf you are new to the cabin experience, let me share a few things. I have well water. It is HARD! It is tested every 6 months and has always been 100% safe, no pesticides, bacteria or heavy metals. Just calcium and iron. I try my best to keep the evidence to a minimum but it is a challenge. So you will see some calcium deposits on water fixtures (although I do treat them every time I clean) and iron stains on occasion (also treated between each guest). Sometimes the residue blooms again after I have treated it. It is safe, just not tidy looking. And when water sits in the pipes a long time between guests sometimes it can have a metallic smell. That is the iron. Just let the water run a few minutes and it will dissipate. There is a light well-water taste. Some love it, some don't. It IS safe and even healthy! Critters: I have done my best to seal up any places unwanted guests may use to get into The Studio. So far, no mammals have breached my efforts! And most larger insects have been kept at bay. However, I cannot keep minute insects from coming through the screens and so you may find small cobwebs or gnats once in awhile. Again, I look for these between each guest, but they can return overnight. Luckily I have very few mosquitos, when we do it is usually in the evening only. We are in the country. If either of these things bother you, keep in mind that I cannot overcome these issues. It is part of the cabin experience!

This suite is the largest of the guest suites in this charming B&B; in desirable Suttons Bay, fifteen minutes north of Traverse City on the Leelanau Peninsula - known for agritourism, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park, and wineries! This B&B; has been offering a high level of hospitality for 20 years. Its most memorable features are it's location (in the village across from a waterfront park), the amazing 20' natural waterfall behind the house, and the owner's whimsical decor and extensive original art collection. Breakfasts are beautifully presented with many farm-to-table ingredients. Your host, Jackie, maintains a quiet presence primarily in her dwelling next door, leaving you to enjoy the atmosphere as though it is your own summer house. There are 3 guestrooms total, the others are also featured in this site: the Rose Garden Room, and the Birds Nest. If visiting wineries interests you, or you want to walk to all the restaurants and boutiques; if you like the idea of a waterfall in your back yard and Lake Michigan being right across the road, well this is it. The owner has been operating a B&B; here for 20 years. Wine is waiting in your room, and breakfasts are lavish. Suttons Bay is 15 miles north of Traverse City, a pretty ride along the bay. The village has an excellent historic restored theater, much art, and upscale shopping. There are 3 waterfront parks.

North Park West is the only B&B; on the wine trails, across the road from a waterfront park on Lake Michigan (Suttons Bay), walking distance to everything wonderful in this village - and featuring its own 20' natural waterfall surrounded by a very private wildflower meadow. This B&B; has a 20 year history of providing great hospitality. A bit eccentric in character, the decor is highly artistic as is the collection of modern paintings, all original. Food is presented artistically as well. Wine flows freely. The Birds Nest is the most adventurous of the guest rooms. You reach it by climbing an exterior spiral staircase. Entering you encounter an immaculate and architecturally interesting space with an ensuite bath, elaborate oriental screen, unique glass vessel sink, custom cabinetry, an electric fireplace, fridge with wine, flat screen TV/cable, WiFi, and a full bed on an antique glazed wooden frame. Lamps feature antique birdfeather and silk shades. A large fan is provided and four windows can bring the cool night breezes in. Guests report they can hear the waterfall at night. There is a tiny seating area on the balcony - it is covered with vines so even there, privacy is honored. You may also join the other guests anytime you desire - wine comes out around 4 pm. Tea and coffee are availaable 24 hours - (you also have coffee/tea service in your room! If you request it, Jackie will deliver your breakfast to the glass table at the bottom of your stairway where you can enjoy a very fancy breakfast privately on the rear deck, listening to the birds. The Leelanau Peninsula is THE vacation destination in the Upper Midwest region. Viewers of Good Morning America voted it The Most Beautiful Place in America. It is an agritourism region with gourmet eating spots everywhere. Wine and cherries are crops we are best known for, so tasting rooms are plentiful - over 30 are nearby. Suttons Bay has 3 waterfront parks - two are sandy, for swimming, and North Park is a grassy area with the boat launch. (My contribution is my apple tree that produces very well come fall.) Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park is just up the road! Traverse City is fifteen minutes south. It is a bustling place with a vibrant downtown filled with cafes, boutiques, and galleries, very walkable. Many of our visitors are Detroit and Chicago people but more and more visitors are coming from many other countries. There is so much to enjoy in the region. This is not a sleepy place on the map,,, you will be on the go constantly if that is your choice. Otherwise, settle back with a book and glass of wine or take a snooze by the waterfall!

The SpaceAdjacent to a magnificent cherry orchard and surrounded by herb and flower gardens, this country farmhouse is central to the Leelanau Peninsula's vast and legendary vacation offerings -- beaches, towns, farmer's markets, farms, kayaking, hiking. On 20 rolling acres, the five-bedroom farmhouse, with three separate, well-designed living areas, is a haven for large groups of family or friends looking for a relaxing, rural home base, quietly tucked away from it all. Dine under 100-year-old trees, take a nap in the hammock, or spend all evening in one of the many rocking chairs lining the wrap-around front porch with views that stretch across farmland, orchard and tall meadow grasses. With so much space to run, play, roam, explore, pick apples, climb trees, catch fireflies, this magical country spot is a dream for families with children -- well-tested by my very own. Downtown Suttons Bay is just five minutes away, and Tandem Ciders and the Nine Bean Rows Bakery are also within a five-minute drive. BEDROOMS // 1 // There is a downstairs master bedroom with a king bed and an adjoining bathroom with shower. 2 // Queen bed with soft, heavy sheets and a vintage bedspread, a wool blanket from a Michigan sheep farm, and the most lovely light. 3 // Twin beds with down comforters, organic sheets and handmade quilts from Fait La Force. Extra room for playing and reading. Magnificent views of the fields. 4 + 5 // Queen bed suite with an adjoining, separate bedroom with two additional twin beds. Organic, comfortable linens. KITCHEN // Simple, well-stocked kitchen with sharp knives, plenty of dinnerware, cloth napkins, and pots and pans. The window view over the farmhouse sink is glorious. WRAP-AROUND FRONT PORCH // In authentic farmhouse spirit, the spacious wrap-around front porch is filled with rocking chairs, wicker furniture and a porch swing. OUTDOORS // Birch woods, fruit trees, neighboring cherry orchards, great foraging and a help-yourself kitchen garden. Tree swing, rolling hills, tall grasses, wildflowers. Vegetable and herb gardens. There's an outdoor table and seating area within close proximity to the kitchen door, under a canopy of trees. LIBRARY // The library is full of books dedicated to gardening, poetry, handcraft and fiction. There's also a magical selection of children's books. You are welcome to read books while you are there, but please leave them for everyone to enjoy. GROUPS // The property and space is an ideal location for events, small gatherings and workshops. Large weddings are not permitted. Guest AccessThere are three outbuildings. Two of the barns are not available for use currently, but please ask about booking the tiny, rustic guesthouse that sleeps two in addition to the house. The NeighborhoodMy husband and I (and now, our three children) have been visiting the Leelanau Peninsula every season for nearly a decade. I have also written about the area for Martha Stewart Living and would be happy to share my regular haunts, from favorite farmstands and farmer's markets to the best croissants and locally-made hard apple cider in town. Excerpt: "On the Leelanau Peninsula -- a 30-mile spit of land jutting northeast into Lake Michigan -- the days feel longer, the fish tastes fresher, and the food lovers are still blessedly unpretentious. The white-sand beaches of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are legendary, featuring powdery dunes, some more than 200 feet high." Other Things to NoteBed and Bath Details: One king bed, two queen beds, four twin beds. Two bathrooms have a shower (one upstairs, one down), and the third bathroom has a clawfoot tub.

A massive natural 20' waterfall is a beauty in the back yard.. The back yard is very private with a wildflower meadow and white garden lounge chairs. This area is bordered by wilderness so neighbors homes are not visible. There are 4 bathrooms - the listing says 7 because FB adds en suit baths with hall baths for some reason. There is a tiny seating area on the balcony - it is covered with vines so even there, privacy is honored. You may also join the other guests anytime you desire - wine comes out around 4 pm.
