You have the best of both worlds. Boating and water sports on calm lake/private dock and then the enjoyment of Lake Michigan Beaches. Close to bike riding trails, boat rentals, golf, Michigan Adventure Amusement Park. We have had a few people inquire about beach, it depends on the water level in Lake Michigan. Some years we have 60ft of sandy beach, other seasons less. Regardless of amount of beach the walk-in from shore is a WARM shallow sandy area/swim area great for kids. Lake Michigan public beaches are a short boat ride or 2-3 mile walk/drive away. Most will find the waters of White Lake to be warmer and calmer for swimming. We will also have an option for our rental customers to lease a newer 115hp pontoon boat for the rental term.

Although we are brand new to this site, we are in our 10th year of renting our home and are proud to have a five star rating from our guests. Here are a couple sample reviews we have received from our guests: "This was our family's 3rd year renting in Western Michigan and we hit the jackpot with this house! It was by far the best-stocked house we've rented; you really only need to bring your clothes and stop at the nearby Meijer for groceries. Everything else is provided, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper, and kitchen essentials!.. The house was also spotless and very updated." "We came here with two families total and the house was PERFECT for this. Our kids loved the house more than anything else... They kept saying they just wanted to play in the 'backyard' (by the dock). We caught tons of fish off the dock, loved the lake because it was so shallow and safe for the little ones, and built fires in the sand at night. The owners make everything very convenient by providing so much at the house...so packing was simple, which is always nice! Couldn't have asked for a better value or a more fun time!!!" "This was by far the nicest accommodation we've had over the years while visiting my folks, and we look forward to staying in your house again if we're able to return next year. Also I'd like to say thank you for the quick return of our security deposit, I was very pleased to receive the check less than a week after we returned home." Our lakefront home has over 2700 square feet, 3 bedrooms plus a loft and 3 full bathrooms. We have 85' of frontage on a sandy all-sports lake. The lake is spring fed and the depth increases slowly so kids have plenty of room to splash around. We have stocked our house with all the incidentals you'll need for your time at our house. Our kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, sugar and creamer, aluminum wrap, plastic wrap, a new scouring sponge, dishwashing detergent, cooking spray, paper towels, napkins... In the bathrooms you'll find towels and washcloths, hairdryers, soap, shampoo, conditioner and toilet paper. We have an abundant supply of beach towels and the house has a large capacity washer and dryer (including detergent) that you are welcome to use. The house has two levels plus a loft. Each level has a living room, bedroom and bathroom so two families could easily share the house. The main level has a great room (combining living room, dining room and kitchen) with sliding glass doors to the deck; a master bedroom with a king size bed, cable TV and DVD player, master bathroom and walk-in closet; a second bathroom with a jetted tub; a laundry room with a large capacity washer and a dryer; and a loft over the great room, which includes a queen size sleeper sofa and desk. The kitchen is modern, spacious and clean. There is a coffee maker, blender and toaster and abundant dishes, glassware, cookware, and serving pieces. The dining area has a table and seven chairs. There are also 4 bar stools that surround the kitchen island and a high chair. The main floor great room has a gas fireplace, cable TV and a DVD player. The lower level has a living room (with a queen sleeper sofa) and cable TV with a DVD player. There are also two bedrooms (one with a king bed, one with a queen), a full bathroom and sliding doors to the patio. The lower level has its own thermostat separate from the main floor for your comfort. We offer a paddle boat and a row boat with a small motor down by the beach. There are beach chairs and a beach umbrella for those who don't like the direct sun. We have life preservers for small children all the way up to adult size. There is plenty of sports equipment for those times the kids don't want to be in the water. Besides the paved area by the garage where the basketball hoop is there is a substantial backyard to enjoy as well as a swingset. In the winter the hill down to the lake makes a fantastic sled hill and we are right next to snowmobile trails. We keep a binder in the living room with area attractions (winter and summer) and directions.

Magnificent lakefront home in prime location on White Lake's south shore very near Lake Michigan & Duck Lake State Park beach, the White Lake Yacht Club & excellent Lakeside Inn. Most of the year Lake Michigan is to cool for kids to swim, let them enjoy swimming in the warm water of White Lake with easy boat and drivable access to Lake Michigan if you even wish to go there. The newer quality built brick ranch is both elegant and comfortable. 4,800 sq. ft. finished with 6 bedrooms, 3.5 baths(each with whirlpool) his/hers garages, and a huge lakeside patio for entertaining & sunset views. You'll love the gourmet kitchen with gorgeous granite & quality cabinetry & stainless appliances. Beautiful crown & base moldings & exquisite decor. Area offers lots of unique shops. Small Drive access for other homes parallel with lake below house. 250' seasonal dock patio. White Lake is a beautiful all sports lake with Channel access to Lake Michigan.

Adorable Lake Michigan cottage right on the beach. Don’t like the idea of having to walk down dozens of stairs (while holding an infant, a cooler, and two beach chairs) just to get down to the beach everyday? Well who does? Fortunately for you, this beach house is located right on the beach. Not across the street from the beach, not a short walk from the beach, not just a view of the beach, but actually RIGHT. ON. THE. BEACH. And not just any beach, LAKE MICHIGAN! Doesn’t get much better than that...does it? Enjoy the breathtaking views of sunrises and sunsets from the private beach, or screened in porch, and let the calming waves of Lake Michigan lull you to sleep every night in this charming little beach house far away from all the noise and chaos of the big city. The cottage was originally built in 1891, so it maintains a rustic feel, but has all the modern amenities you could want - including internet! The 1,100 square foot cottage, including the screened in porch, has 3 bedrooms and one full bathroom. Welcome to the Gale Cottage! This unique piece of history is now available for weekly rentals. This inviting retreat has everything you need for making memories with your loved ones. The Gale Cottage itself offers plenty of areas to relax and play, but it’s also a perfect home-base for the Whitehall/Montague area providing easy access to Lake Michigan and close proximity to all other points of interest, activities, and conveniences. If you are looking just to chill, look no further than this peaceful place. Read that vacation novel, while enjoying the cool lake breezes in one of our 6 bedrooms. Take a snooze under the beautiful tree canopy in the outdoor hammock, or on the enclosed porch’s rope swing. Or grab one of the provided beach towels and head to the beach to lounge by the water to enjoy the sunshine, the sound of the lapping waves, and maybe some unhurried conversation. Everyone will love this spot on White Lake for its gorgeous panoramic view of the blue (not actually white!) waters, which are often remarkably un-crowded. The ever-changing view is so pleasing. It is a delight to see the many types of sailboats glide by and watch the White Lake Yacht Club’s larger sailboats race by on the weekends. The sunsets are beautiful every day of the week! At night, build a bonfire - have s’mores and tell stories. And don’t forget to stargaze! Since the whole property is situated on a low grade – it’s easy for your whole group to gather and enjoy each other together. The driveway is flat. And it’s only a few steps down to the large deck where there is seating for 12, and only a few steps further down to the yard, beach, and dock. Please note that children are very welcome at the Gale Cottage and, hopefully, will be quite entertained. At the beach, kids can dig or build castles with our sand toys, swim, float, or use our row boat. The yard has a large swingset and is plenty big for any number of games (badminton and wiffle ball are in the boat house). Inside, there is a small collection of DVDs and in the bunk room, there are toys, books, & games. The Gale Cottage is easy to get to – a short 10 minute drive from US-31. It is 3 hours away from Chicago and Detroit, and 55 minutes from Grand Rapids. The home is ideally located to enjoy the best of each lake: White Lake’s warmer, calmer waters for water sports like skiing, tubing, fishing, and swimming (or you can just lounge in one of our inflatables!) And Lake Michigan’s immense waters & wonderful beaches with soft sand and waves – 3 miles away via boat (via channel access with its great view of the White River Light Station & Museum) and car (convenient parking is available at Duck Lake State Park Beach, where you can enjoy Duck Lake, the warm, shallow waters of the channel – a big hit with the kids- and the “big lake”). When it’s time to eat, you will find everything you need to prepare meals for 12 and serve meals for 24 (who wants to do dishes every day on vacation?), or to call for takeout or delivery (a phone and menus). The Gale Cottage will be stocked with some starter supplies such as coffee, filters, sugar, salt, spices, paper goods (towels, tissues, toilet), soap (hand, dish, dishwasher, laundry), garbage bags, propane, roasting sticks, and firewood. Food, beverages, and extra supplies needed can be purchased nearby. The sister cities of Whitehall and Montague are only 3.5 miles away. Montague Foods has a large selection of high quality groceries, beer, and wine. Check out the World’s Largest Weathervane before going in! Also take advantage of the Farmers Market (and Artisan Market) across the street on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. If you choose to dine out, there are several great options in the area. One you can’t miss is Montague’s classic Dog ‘n Suds Drive In. Enjoy a real draft root beer and coney dog via car hop service. For finer dining, try Crosswinds On the Lake or Harbor View Grille in Whitehall. Then go to Dairy Treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. Please ask us for additional recommendations. We know where to find the best Michigan Blueberries and Cherries too! Check out the White Lake Area’s Visitors site at whitelake.org for a wealth of information, including a downloadable Visitor Guide. There are many special events throughout the year, such as the Cruz’In Classic Car Show, the Arts and Crafts Festival, and the Wine and Jazz Festival. But, you can easily spend any day just in the walk-able picturesque towns of Whitehall and Montague with its many unique shops and attractive places to get some tasty food and drinks. If you are into beer, stop by the area’s very own craft brewery – Fetch Brewing – in downtown Whitehall! Take a look at our “Other Attractions and Activities” section for web addresses to some of the other popular places near the Gale Cottage. There is so much to see and do in the White Lake Area, you will want to stay longer than a week! (Ask us about discounts for longer stays). The Gale Cottage makes it easy for your vacation to be what you want it to be – a memorable fun-filled escape!
