The SpaceOur quaint, cozy home, (not a Bed and Breakfast, not a Hotel, but a home which we live in), is in Duluth's Kenwood neighborhood on the main thoroughfare on the top of the hill in Duluth. We are just 10 minutes from the lake, downtown, canal park or the mall. The main floor has a gourmet kitchen which you're welcome to use-- full access to the main floor, decks and hot tub --2 cozy bedrooms -- great queen sized beds with nice linens-- You will find we have dressers where we shouldn't have, and things in closets, because we have children and grand children who stay with us at times so much of their games and toys are here too. If you are looking for a B&B or a hotel, then we are the wrong place for you. If you don't mind sharing our space you are more than welcome here! I keep my home as clean as possible but we are not ready to start getting rid of stuff yet so our home is set up like a home...Price is for 1-2 people, 3+ will pay $50 extra for each person up to 6 max. Air mattresses available upon request for larger groups. Kids free. Pack-n-play available upon request. Guest AccessIf we needed to be home, we would have our own private entrance and would only see you if you wanted to interact. The main floor office, and basement area are our personal space and will be locked. Interaction with GuestsWe will be sure our guests have what they need to be comfortable and enjoy their time in Duluth! We are available by phone or text any time, day or night, and have a neighbor enlisted to help if anything pressing arises and you cannot reach us. The NeighborhoodWe are main thoroughfare through Duluth on top of the hill. That means there is traffic in front of my home and traffic noise if you leave the doors and windows open. The positive is you get easy access to entire city. Always open for travel, even in the toughest snow season. Our back yard runs right up to Bagley Nature Center which attaches to Hartley field, both with miles of wood chipped trails (Part of The Lake Superior Trail system) and groomed snowshoe trails through the woods-- ponds, creeks, and at the top of the Bagley hill is a platform overlooking the city, UMD, and Lake Superior! The trails go for miles and include leisurely walking trails or hardcore hiking. Hartley also has completely groomed trails for cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter.
Neighbors are great, be respectful, as they will be watching. Groceries, gas, subs, pizza, liquor store, coffee shop, drug store, laundry, and anything else you could need is less than 3 blocks away. There is a new retail center with restaurants, bars and shopping within walking distance in summer time. Just past the University. Winter time it would be tougher because of snow buildup and not being able to take the shortcut through the Nature Center as easily. Getting AroundWe are on the bus route but I have never needed to use it so I couldn't help with info. If you will need it, just let me know and I will get bus route info. We have a large driveway with a turn around so you have off street parking and will never have to back into the street. Airport is only minutes away. Other Things to NoteLaundry can be available if we are home, otherwise, laundry mat 3 blocks away. Each Bedroom has a key locking door. Bean grinder, Coffee maker, KEURIG and espresso machine all available for your use. There is a beverage refrigerator in the wet bar/pantry for your use and frosty mugs in the freezer.
