The Great Room is a perfect gathering space that can easily accommodate everyone at the same time. The large kitchen allows for many people to prepare food at the same time or just hang out with the chef while they work their magic! The custom cabinetry, spacious granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, dual sinks, beverage fridge, induction cooktop, central island and vast views of the lake and outdoor activity make it a joy being in this gorgeous space. The 72" round dining table seats 8-10 with direct views of the lake. Plus the kitchen island seats 4-6, allowing 16 people to eat in the same room at the same time. Additionally, the patio seats 6-10 more! The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows for unobstructed views of the lake, beautiful coffered ceilings, a cozy contemporary gas fireplace in a gorgeous wall of built-ins, a huge sectional sofa, and a large TV that can be easily watched from all parts of the Great Room, all the way back to the cooktop!
The outdoor space is also very accommodating with beautiful landscaping, a paved driveway, and paver sidewalks. There is also a covered porch and large patio furnished with a gas grill and patio furniture. The yard is level to the lake (meaning there are no stairs or hills to have to climb!) making it easy to feel connected to both those in the house and those at the dock. The flat yard also allows for easy set-up of various yard games or banquet tables. There is heated garage parking for 3 vehicles (wonderful in the winter!), with room for at least 5 more vehicles on the driveway. Additionally, there is a swingset and pedal boat available onsite for your enjoyment.
If getting outdoors is limited by weather, there is plenty to do within the house itself! Get cozy with a blanket and a good book by the fireplace, or watch a favorite TV episode or movie. Play a game of cards or a board game, or challenge each other to a game of foosball. Take advantage of the beautiful kitchen and create a gourmet treat, or dim the lights and relax in the master bathroom's air tub! If that's not enough, there are several local options for indoor fun.
As a bonus, wheelchairs can easily navigate through the main level and outdoor space of the property due to the 36" doors and lack of stairs. With level access to the patio and flat yard, a wheelchair can even get out to the dock!
CRAFTING RETREATS: If you are seeking a place to set up retreats for scrapbooking or quilting or other crafting, the large bonus room comfortably accommodates 12-16 crafters, but (depending on your retreat needs) because the house accommodates up to 24 guests, it may be possible for up to 24 crafters to join the group! The large dormers in the bonus room bring in ample natural light. When you want or need a break from creating, there are plenty of options for how to spend your non-crafting time while at The Lake Place.
Retreat rates for a 2 night stay are available and include early morning check-in and late evening check-out, providing the option of 3 long work days for your projects! Plus, arrangements can be made for retreats longer than 2 or 3 nights, as well as retreats other than crafting, such as book clubs, church groups, or small business conferences. Being able to rent equipment for lake activity right at the shoreline makes being able to use the lake in a variety of ways very convenient. Rental options include fishing boats, speed boats and pontoons, as well as jet-skis, sailboats, kayaks, paddle boards and bikes in the summer, and cross-country skis and snowshoes in the winter. Rentals are available at Diamond Point Park, Lake Bemidji State Park, or Ruttger's Resort, all of which are right on Lake Bemidji! Fishing equipment, fish houses, snowmobiles and camping equipment can also be rented nearby. If you're not out fishing or tubing, cruising around the lake is a great way to spend some time on the lake in the summer, and in the winter, driving on the lake through the village of plowed "roads" and "neighborhoods" of ice houses is an experience in itself. Watching the 4th of July fireworks from your boat, participating in fishing tournament, and taking the Polar Plunge are a few more unique ways to take advantage of Lake Bemidji. Launching your boat can be done just a mile away at Cameron Park or Diamond Point Park. Both city parks also have a public beach, playground and picnic area. Ruttger's offers refueling of the boat right on the lake.
BOATING LAKE BEMIDJI: It is fun to boat to different places right on Lake Bemidji such as restaurants, the touristy downtown Waterfront, Lake Bemidji State Park, and the Country Club. You simply arrive and dock your boat until you're ready to leave the destination. You can also motor boat, kayak or canoe to 2 different connected lakes (Lake Irving and Stump Lake) by hopping on the Mississippi River!
FISHING LAKE BEMIDJI: Lake Bemidji is well known for excellent fishing of muskie, walleye, northern pike, and panfish (yellow perch, crappie and pumpkinseeds). Most of these have been caught right from the dock, providing hours of entertainment! For serious fishermen, several fishing guides are available in the area to help you get that trophy fish! In the winter, some of the permanent ice houses that make up part of the "ice house village" straight out from the house are able to be rented.

Other Things to NoteI have decided to open up my family's vacation home to others knowing that when I travel, I look at vacation rental homes as my first choice of lodging! I also truly love the house, the location, and the notion that it is perfect for everyone! I want others to be able to experience and enjoy everything I have come to love about The Lake Place.
Once our primary residence, we decided on this house for our family when we thought it would be our "forever" home. Besides being on the desirable west side of Lake Bemidji nestled in a 1.2 acre mostly private semi-wooded setting, we loved that it was in a safe, quiet neighborhood just minutes from town. We loved that the landscape of the property and layout of the home itself was beautiful and accommodating to all ages and all stages. We loved that the new construction provided modern amenities and decor, as well as city sewer and water and natural gas. We loved that the house felt cozy enough for two but spacious enough for large gatherings and entertaining. Plus, we loved that whether in the house or enjoying the outdoors, seeing the neighbors was extremely rare, making it feel very secluded.
Once the home became ours, I knew immediately that it was perfect. I love watching my kids enjoy this lake and the home as much as my husband and myself, and well as my parents. I love that within minutes I can buy more bait for my son who fishes off the dock for hours, or make a quick run for groceries, or easily get to an event. I love that there is plenty of wildlife to watch and enjoy right from the property, including Bald Eagles, Loons, Ospreys, Great Blue Herons, geese, ducks, and swans, as well as white tail deer, fox, mink and black squirrels. And I love that the lot is flat with no hills or stairs to navigate, and that there is also plenty of flat space in front and in back for setting up a soccer game, badminton net, bocci ball or croquet, along with a flat, paved driveway.
We have had countless birthday parties, holiday gatherings and friends-inviting-friends events at all times of the year. We even had a Baptismal ceremony in the backyard! Whether it's been just my crew of six or a large group, it has never felt too big or too small, and everyone has always had something enjoyable to do!
