The SpaceThe bedroom is furnished with antiques, and has a desk that is large enough for your laptop and more, a luggage rack, a dresser for your clothes, and you can hang clothes up on the back of the door. Please note the bed, which is comfortable, is a full-sized bed, not a queen-size bed. We have another listing "Spacious Room with Private Bath," if you want a queen-size bed. Your private full bath is across the hall. We provide shampoo, conditioner, and soap that are not made with dangerous chemicals.
Our home is on a lake, and across the street from the beach, where you can swim in the warmer months.
The lake is beautiful in every season and at every time of day or night. The house faces West and we enjoy nearly daily spectacular sunsets. The guest bedroom, the foyer, the living room, dining room, the front veranda, and the side patio all have lake views. In the warmer months, we grow a lot of flowers and a few vegetables, which makes the view all the more delightful.
There is a lot that is pleasing on our walls: Alice's mother is painter, everyone in the family makes visual art, and we have collected a few paintings and prints.
We are animal lovers. We feed the birds and have several hummingbird feeders in the front and back yards. So, in addition to the lake view, you can bird watch.
If you have a small child, there is enough room in the bedroom for a portable crib. Guest AccessYou are invited to make your breakfast in our kitchen and sit at our dining room table, which has a wonderful view of the lake. (Other meals are negotiable.)
You are welcome to sit in the living room or outside on the veranda or the side patio.
With respect to meals other than breakfast, we like to play it by ear, depending on what we have planned and what you have planned. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy chatting with our guests, but we respect that you have plans, just as we have plans and work.
We have a nice library of movies. We love watching movies, and would welcome you to join us on movie nights. In the winter, we build a roaring fire in the fireplace and settle in.
In warmer months, we enjoy sitting on the veranda and swimming, and you are welcome to join us. The NeighborhoodYou can walk, jog, or bike in the beautiful neighborhood, which boasts three lakes, and you can connect with the network of hiking/biking trails of Columbia.
In the warm months, you can walk across the street to the beach and swim.
Though we have parks, the lakes, and peace and quiet where we live, we are close to everything: Hy-Vee(1.5 miles); Columbia Mall (1.8 miles); Downtown CoMo (3 miles); Mizzou (3 miles). We have put some restaurants, MU, and other things on the guidebook map. Getting AroundIt is about 15 minute walk from our home to W. Broadway, where you can catch the 2A Gold Connector and go East on Broadway; this bus will take you to the University of Missouri Campus, which is adjacent to downtown and "The District." You can get the bus schedule on the the city's public transit website, ComoConnect. Other Things to NoteWe have three dogs, who live in the living room (so they aren't in the rest of the house) and two cats, one gregarious and the other shy. If you are allergic to animals, this is not the place for you. If you like animals and aren't allergic, we keep the house very clean, so you can enjoy the pets.
We have two listings. The other one is called "Spacious Room with Private Bath." The two rooms are side by side and each has its own private bathroom. If you want both rooms, you can book separately.
As noted above, if you have a small child, there is enough room in the bedroom for a portable crib.
