The SpaceThis space is best suited for business travelers (of which I've had many) or families or really good friends since you are all sleeping in one big open area in the lower level. People tell me all the time how comfortable and beautiful my house is. The finished lower level is 1300 sq feet and has 1 queen bed with featherbed topper, 1 queen Aerobed 24" high inflatable with pillowtop, 1 sofa and 1 loveseat with removable back cushions so they are very wide and comfortable. No more than 4 adults (over 18), 6 people total. Guest AccessThe lower level has a full-sized refrigerator, 1950's electric range with double ovens, new toaster oven, electric skillet, a microwave, 10-cup coffee pot and filters, Keurig, washer/dryer, pots, pans, cooking and baking utensils. A 52" HDTV and BluRay with free Amazon Prime and Pandora accounts for your use. Note: I do not have cable.
The bathroom has a shower only, plenty of fluffy towels and washcloths, hair dryer, soap, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner.
BRING A SWEATER (I provide one fluffy robe) as the basement is always 5 degrees cooler than the upstairs and I do keep my house on the cool side both in summer and winter. Interaction with GuestsI have a very active life and you will likely be in St Louis for a specific purpose so I respect your desire to just have a clean, safe, comfortable place to come and go as you like. I'm thrilled to share my knowledge of STL if you want to know where to go, what to see. I'm always eager to get to know people but I will leave that up to you as to how much interaction you want. The NeighborhoodThere are about 2000 residents surrounding Francis Park in mostly single family homes, but there are also multi-family and condo units. Our 1 sq mile community park features tennis courts, handball courts, playground, lily pond with art sculptures, lovely gardens, walking paths and now a coffee house next to the Tennis courts. Willmore Park is on the other side of me and offers 2 lakes, fishing, picnic shelters, tennis, fabulous playground, dog park (website hidden), walking/jogging paths. Both parks are less than 5 minutes walking distance.
I live in a very safe, walkable neighborhood near cafes, restaurants, shopping, a library, donut shops, grocery, Walgreens and lots of medical facilities.
St. Louis is known for so many FREE activities. Forest Park has a plethora of venues: Golf and Tennis, The Muny (June -Aug), Jewel Box, Worlds Fair Pavillion, The Boathouse Cafe, The Zoo, The Missouri History Museum, The Art Museum, Shakespeare in the Park (June), fabulous walking/running/biking paths, outdoor ice skating, ballfields bordered by Barnes Hospital and Washington University.
The Central West End is a very walkable community full of restaurants, eclectic shopping & nightlife.
Downtown is no Chicago but there is lots to see and do on Washington Avenue, Laclede's Landing, and The Arch grounds which are undergoing a major renovation.
We have numerous wineries about an hour west of me and well worth the drive for the views alone. There is usually a band playing at any of them on the weekends. You will always find bicyclists around our area and beyond --many great bike paths like Grant's Trail and Christy Greenway that connect for long rides or runs. In addition, we have the KATY trail, a former RR trail now covered by chat and near the wineries in Defiance for bicycling flat land through scenic areas.
And we have the greatest sports town in all the USA: Blues Hockey, Cardinals Baseball, Rams Football, SLU Basketball, and Soccer. Getting AroundMetrolink is our railway system and the nearest station is Shrewsbury which is a 3 minute drive. Driving is super easy, super simple in St. Louis. You can drive from the Mississippi River which is the separation from Illinois, to the far western edges of St Louis in about 45 -50 minutes. Other Things to NoteYou will be entering the apartment at the rear of the house, so you'll walk along the left side of the house following the brick paver walkway to the patio and you'll see the staircase down to the basement. It's well-lit at night.
