The SpaceLess than 5 minutes to the North entrance to Yellowstone, a 1 minute walk to our local grocery store and other shopping. Lovely hot tub on the river. 2 living rooms, 2 bedrooms, plus a queen sized pull out couch. Car port and sun room! Soapstone wood stove for the chilly months (wood provided). There are 2 bedrooms: 1 queen bed in the large master bedroom, 2 twin beds in the smaller room, 1 queen pull out couch in 1 of the living rooms. (It would be easy to accommodate children in sleeping bags in the master bedroom) there is a garden tub in the master and a shower in the 2nd bathroom. Sometimes we will be on site to greet you, if not, we will be available by phone/text. It's a small, quiet neighborhood...Gardiner is a real hodge podge of homes, we hope you enjoy its eccentricities as much as we do! There is not any public transportation in Gardiner but there are many private companies that can be hired out. Montana and Gardiner travel taxes are included. $100 cleaning fee $300 deposit (refundable after unit is cleaned and all is well, including hot tub) Interaction with GuestsPlease call or email to make your reservation. Sometimes we will be on site to greet you, if not, our manager will be available if needed. Here's our favorite 1 day itinerary ( considering the current road closures) A nice drive thru Yellowstone so that you get to see most of the park in one day. There is a road closed between mammoth and Norris, so the route I am giving you, accounts for that. From our house head up to -Mammoth Hot Springs (while there, take the short -about 2 miles-scenic "terrace drive" which is about 2 miles up the road from the hotel.) -head back down to Mammoth and turn toward Hayden Valley -Take Dunraven Pass all the way to Canyon Village: -go to the visitors center -drive to 'Artists Point', this is a short walk for a spectacular view-be sure to hold kid's hands here -head toward Lake Yellowstone, drive by the beautiful grand hotel -head toward Old Faithful: -park the car here and go to the visitors center to find out when the next Old Faithful eruption is predicted, then walk around the back side of the geyser so you can watch it away from the crowd :) -we love to get root beer floats at the General Store (or a drink on the 2nd story porch of the Old Faithful Inn) - if you walk around a bit, be sure to ask a ranger where 'anemone' geyser is, that is our son Rowan's favorite because it sounds like a toilet flushing! From here, you'll need to turn around and drive all the way back...due to the road closure, or you can continue toward Madison/Norris but you will still have to go back over Dunraven pass. Be sure to bring your warm clothes, it gets very cold in Yellowstone! Getting AroundThere is NO public transportation in Gardiner. Other Things to NoteWe do have a tv, but we DO NOT have satellite or cable tv. There is a DVD player and lots of movies. There is also an Apple TV, however, we cannot guarantee that the Apple TV will be working as the internet in Gardiner is a bit slow and sometimes does not connect well to the Apple TV. If you do sign in to Hulu or Netflix or any other Apple TV option, we ask that you "sign out" and DO NOT "reset" the Apple TV. If you "reset" the Apple TV, we have to call our tech person and we will charge $25 to your deposit. Thank you! Montana and Gardiner travel taxes are included. (That's right, we include all the taxes and fees -except cleaning fee-in our nightly price) Extra guests on approval and $30/night after 4 guests $100 cleaning fee $300 deposit (refundable after unit is cleaned and all is well, including hot tub)

The kitchen is also open to the great room with 2 refrigerators, 2 ovens, a convection cook top, many granite counter tops and stools for many to hang out together. The pantry and laundry room are conveniently located right off the kitchen, as well as a rec room that can have a queen bed added for an extra charge and can use the main floor bathroom. 4 bathrooms total. The large front deck can be accessed through two different doors, 2 barbecue grilles, fire pit in front yard. Upstairs is carpeted with a work out room, a massage chair, 3 bathrooms, two with jacuzzi tubs, one smaller, one much bigger, a walk in rock shower with 3 shower stations, 4 queen beds, a set of bunk beds, and 1 king bed in master. Very comfortable lodge with beautiful private surroundings and animals all about. We also have friendly horses, outdoor dogs, & cats that love attention, as well as a resident herd of a few hundred elk as well as other wildlife being in a private basin next to Yellowstone Park. Within half mile is a neighboring rancher who takes guests out on horseback rides & zip lines. Further down our road is Yellowstone River with many public accesses for fishing. Rafting is between us and Gardiner. We also have three other homestead cabins we have restored, all private from each other on the creek, the lodge is on the highest hill. We have lots of area info to share with you. Grpa's cabin: 4 queen beds/1 bath $275 per night standard rates. Schoolhouse Cabin: 5 queen beds/2 bath, 2000' cabin $375 standard rates. All have outdoor fire pits, barbecue grills, big yards, big decks, plenty of space for families of any size. Creek Cabin: 2 queen beds/1 bath, 600', $235 standard rates. Has a two tier deck right on the creek, closer to schoolhouse cabin for families needing closer lodging together. Refunds are offered if we can re-book your dates, minus a $75 fee. I will refund minus $75 if i can re-book same dates in same year. Pets have to come with own bed and kennel, not allowed upstairs on carpet or in any of guest beds as well as not allowed on any of the furniture. We clean the lodge very thoroughly between rentals. If excessive cleaning is needed, we will let you know and charge accordingly at $25 per hour, and/or cost of linens needing replaced/repaired. Less than weekly stays are assessed a $225 cleaning fee as well. We ask guests be conservative turning lights off when not in use as well as the use of water and washer/dryer use. Our internet is via satellite and only allowed so many GB's for the entire month, so streaming videos, utube etc does not work well and uses all usage in short amount of time. It costs $10 per GB through our only satellite availability. Checking emails, surfing web works well. If extreme use of GB's is taken during a stay, we will have to assess the extra cost to your stay. We want everyone to feel at home & comfortable with no feelings of restrictions...just asking to please treat the lodge and surroundings with respect as if it's your own. We have been very lucky and appreciative this has been the case and everyone has been extremely happy with their surroundings and vacations. 6 miles north of Gardiner, turn off by Lighthouse Restaurant on Cinnabar Basin Road that crosses over Yellowstone River and connects with Old Yellowstone Trail curving back up into the mountains towards Electric peak and Yellowstone Park. The dirt road borders a beautiful creek the entire way and you make your way into a private basin next to Yellowstone Park. You don't need a 4 wheel drive in spring, summer and fall, but it helps in the winter. We do plow all winter. Plenty of parking, neighboring ranch has horse back rides and zip lines tours. Directions to McDonald Ranch, Coming from Livingston, take exit 333 at Livingston, go south on Hwy 89 towards Yellowstone Park. From Livingston, our turn is 7 miles north of Gardiner 43 miles south of Livingston, mile marker 7. You drive through the beautiful Paradise Valley, passing through Emigrant, a flashing yellow light… you have 23 miles to go. Go through Yankee Jim Canyon with the river on your right and 7 miles before Gardiner, you hit Corwin Springs, the sign is on the right just before our turn, after the 8 mile marker. Take a right at Cinnabar Basin Road (before the Lighthouse Restaurant up on your left). Go over Yellowstone River, take a right at stop sign, the sign says Cinnabar Basin Road and Old Yellowstone Trail. Don't turn left, that will take you into the Yellowstone Park and Gardiner on a dirt road. You meander up the dirt road and stay left curving left up into the mountains. Stay on the road closest to the mountain which is Cinnabar Basin Road leaving the river. This Cinnabar Basin Rd is approximately 6.5 miles with a beautiful creek that changes from right side to your left side a few times. Don't turn left into Mulheron Creek or into anyone’s driveway. Come up the Cinnabar Basin Road almost to end…when it opens up into a big basin, you need to take the first driveway to the left. There is a mailbox that says McDonald, a jack leg fence that lines both sides of the driveway. Straight ahead is the Schoolhouse Cabin with dormers and hand hewn logs. To the left of this big cabin is a couple of old outbuildings where the Creek Cabin sits right before the creek crossing on your right. Continue to meander down the driveway crossing the creek and along the bottom of a mountain. Not very far up ahead…there is a big log shop with lean to’s on each side, and to the right of this shop is Grpandpa’s Cabin - Continue up the mountain going left, at the top the LODGE is to the right, our horse barn to the left. Good views from up there around the entire basin. From Yellowstone Park and Gardiner, you come north on Hwy 89 out of Gardiner 7 miles and turn left right after the Lighthouse Restaurant on Cinnabar Basin Rd and continue on with directions above. You can also take the Old Yellowstone Trail south, that was used by the stagecoaches in the old days. From the parks rock arch (official entrance of Yellowstone Park), you go straight north past the Gardiner Elementary/High School, past the park’s historic museum and meander on a dirt road which is still park for approximately 3 miles. The last 4 miles or so is the old road and you run right into Cinnabar Basin Rd. You will notice the bridge you cross from the highway and continue on straight and left up into the mountains. This old road usually has a lot of antelope, mountain sheep, buffalo, deer and elk.
