Since 1995 we operated as a bed and breakfast but downsized for retirement to one guest room. Many of our guests returned every year, enjoying the comfort of our facility, our exceptional hospitality and service, as well as our knowledge of fishing the area! Our facility was featured in the April 2005 issue of Fly Rod & Reel and noted in The Wall Street Journal's "Off the Beaten Track" (June 21 2005), as where to stay when fishing in Montana, and has been listed or featured in many other publications. Guest AccessGuests have an outside deck with garden and mountain view. Guests may keep beverages and limited snacks in their room fridge. No food preparation is allowed in the room, however, there are many good restaurants just minutes from our lodging. Interaction with GuestsHosts enjoy occasional interaction with their guests as their time allows. The NeighborhoodWe are located south of Livingston at the head of Paradise Valley. Our elevation is about 4,700 feet. We are within minutes to Armstrong, DePuy and Nelson Spring Creeks, the Yellowstone River and within a day trip to Yellowstone National Park. We have beautiful views of the jagged snow capped peaks of the Absarokas, Gallatin Range and the Crazy Mountains. This is the epitome of Big Sky Country! Livingston has fine restaurants and many galleries, antique shops and other activities for non- fishers. Other Things to NoteSmoking is allowed outdoors on decks only. No pets. The SpaceWelcome to the “Little Box on the Prairie”. This unique, modern house is made from two recycled shipping containers, situated on 10-acres of rolling prairie, just North of Livingston Montana. It’s a 700 square-foot mix of rustic coziness and clean, modern design. Many of the finishes such as the redwood flooring and plywood wall panels were salvaged off site, recycled and reused. The outside deck is perfect for chatting over morning coffee, an evening glass of wine, gazing at the Absaroka Mountains and likely spotting a deer or antelope. The house comfortably sleeps 2, and potentially a 3rd can sleep on the sofa upon request. While in the country, you’re only 15 minutes from historic downtown Livingston, making it easy to go shopping, find a great restaurant or take in a few art galleries. And if you want to drive 20 miles West, you’ll find plenty to do in the vibrant town of Bozeman, home to Montana State Universtiy. Guest AccessAside from one private closet, guests have access to everything. I would just ask that common sense be used and to be respectful of personal belongings. Interaction with GuestsI'm happy to interact as much or as little as you want. I'm out of town fairly often for work, but someone will always be available for help or answering questions as needed. The NeighborhoodThe area is surrounded by soft, rolling hills of prairie grass, with mountain views in each direction. It is a quiet location and perfect if you just want to read, take a walk, nap, relax and unwind. Area attractions include: The Yellowstone River, Yellowstone National Park, Chico Hot Springs, Museum of the Rockies, Paradise Valley, Bridger Bowl and Big Sky Ski Resorts, Lewis and Clark Caverns, Little Bighorn National Monument, Montana State University, among many others. If nature and outdoor recreation is your thing, you will never run out of terrain to explore. Getting AroundThis is rural living, so a car is needed. While not mandatory, a 4-wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle is recommended if traveling during the winter months or you plan on tackling some mountain back-roads. Other Things to NoteAmenities include: Mosaic-tiled, walk-in shower, outdoor shower, fully equipped kitchen with island, living room, bedroom with queen bed, flat-screen tv with Netflix (among other streaming options), Blu Ray/DVD player, sound system, Wi-Fi, wood stove, well-stocked bookshelves and an outdoor fire pit. My homeowner's insurance now requires me to have guests sign and short-term rental agreement before checkout. I'm happy to share this agreement with you so you can review the terms prior to booking.

Crafted from handpeeled, Swedish Cope logs in the year 2000, Blue Moon Cabin is a wonderful Montana vacation rental, especially suited for two people. Blue Moon Cabin features beautiful decks that overlook the forested hills surrounding the cabin with views of the Bridger and Absaroka Mountains in the distance. This secluded, yet accessible location, makes Blue Moon Cabin a great base for creating your Montana vacation experience. When I am home, I am usually available for questions or a chat, and I love meeting people from different areas of the world. I do travel quite a bit, so am frequently not here, but there is always someone close by who can answer questions or help out with any issues if I am away. In short, I would say, if guests want interaction, I will be there. If not, I leave them alone. The NeighborhoodI love living in the mountains with the beautiful view of Montana's big sky. The fresh air, the peace and quiet, the beauty... Other Things to NoteIn Winter, Spring and Fall, a four wheel drive or AWD vehicle will most likely be necessary. The SpaceSkyArbor Guest Cabin started out as a retreat and recreational cabin created by Paul Seastrand in 1984. While continuing for that purpose, additions to the building and property steadily advanced. Family and friends especially enjoyed the dramatic views of weather and sky, and the nearby availability of hiking, hunting, fishing, and sightseeing. In 2003, Paul and Susan made room in the calendar for its use as a Guest Cabin, and advertised this opportunity to others through their own website ((URL HIDDEN) Vacation Rentals By Owner,((URL HIDDEN) and Visit Montana ((URL HIDDEN) Guests enjoying the beauty and amenities of SkyArbor often return, and Paul and Susan keep the door open for those who seek comfortable lodging within a setting of serenity and panorama. SkyArbor is located on the west slope of the Crazy Mountains about eight miles from Wilsall and the beautiful Shields River. Directly east of the cabin rise the Crazy Mountains, and the Bridger Mountains rim the western horizon. Sunrise and sunset can be spectacular. The Big Belt Mountains are seen to the north, and looking south from the top of the property are the Beartooth, Absaroka and Gallatin Mountains. The cabin has a main floor and two lofts. Each loft has a double bed and a third bedroom is on the main level. A cathedral ceiling rises above the kitchen, dining, hearth and living area. The sunroom has ample seating and satellite TV. Wireless internet is available throughout the cabin. Guests have available a wide menu of activities. A stroll through the property will often yield sightings of small creatures like rabbits, chipmunks, grouse and raptors. With binoculars one can find deer and antelope on the far hills, and with the spotting scope you may happen to spy elk or mountain goats. Wildflowers bloom from April through the middle of July. Horseshoes, picnic spots and a campfire pit are provided. Embarking from the cabin, you can drive to trailheads in the Crazy Mountains that take you to vistas and high lakes. Fishing and hunting are available nearby in public access areas. Yellowstone Park is less than two hours away, or you can stop and visit the towns of Wilsall, Clyde Park, Livingston and Bozeman. The SpaceReclaimed logs from the former Rock Creek Mill and old barns frame the rustic yet modern ambience of this home to two world travelers. Ellen is a Kiwi and Drew is a Montanan native. Between their international jobs and love of travel, they carefully crafted each square inch with local flare and worldly treasures. The tile on the kitchen island, counter tops, and back splash is from Dolores, Hidalgo Mexico. Rugs from India cover the reclaimed wooden floors. Framed lobster boats from the Bay of Fundy hang next to a big rainbow trout that Drew, the owner, taxidermied himself. The library is full of international best sellers and many books on Montana wildlife, nature, Yellowstone National Park, and other Southwest Montana outdoor adventures. The kitchen and living room are separated by a stone fireplace. Montana summer evenings can be cool and starting a real log fire takes the chill off. Firewood is provided. The living area is spacious with comfy couches, blankets, and a 40” flat screen TV with Cable for relaxing at night. There is a desk in the corner for an office area. The kitchen is fully furnished with extras like a soda stream and french press. The island is a good space for cooking and the wooden kitchen table faces floor to ceiling glass doors for views of the Yellowstone River and Yankee Jim Canyon. Behind the kitchen is a full bathroom with a claw foot tub. The stairs lead to the master bedroom. The loft is cozy with a queen bed and half bath. For relaxing evenings, make sure to use the Weber grill and sit on one of the many adirondack chairs on the wooden porch. Or make use of the two wooden swinging benches. Guest AccessThe entire house as described in "The Space". Interaction with GuestsOnce you book, the house is all yours! I provide directions, key instructions, help with planning activities, and am around in case something happens. Otherwise, there is a white binder in the house with house instructions and a library full of local hikes and recreation ideas. Other Things to NoteOnly 4WD or AWD vehicles will make it up the short and steep driveway. Please rent an appropriate car or park your 2WD car at the bottom of the hill and walk into cabin.
