The SpaceThe Village at Idlewild Park is far enough from downtown Reno to be quiet, almost suburban in feeling, yet within 15 minutes' walking distance along a river path, or faster on two wheels along the Riverside Drive bikeway, of a vibrant arts, shopping, and dining district. A slightly longer walk through leafy neighborhoods leads you to the University of Nevada, Reno. Guest AccessGuests will have full use of the apartment including kitchen utensils & appliances (including washer/dryer and dishwasher), coffeemaker with coffee, milk and sugar provided, a selection of teas. Also shared will be all items in refrigerator and pantry, books, radios & TV (Apple TV and DVD player, no cable TV), wifi, patio with electric grill, and one reserved parking spot (not suitable for RV). Two full baths furnished with clean towels & toiletries. Air-conditioning in summer. Village amenities (pool, spa, and exercise room) are available subject to Village at Idlewild Park HOA regulations. Interaction with GuestsWhen I am in town I will let guests in and give a brief orientation. When I am not around, I will have an on-site agent do the same. I will be available by mobile phone at all times in case of problems. The NeighborhoodA few blocks from the apartment are found an excellent coffee emporium, Hub Coffee, and a fine-dining French bistro. A few blocks further the opportunities multiply, including brewpub (Silver Peak and the Brewers Cabinet), a multiplex theater, a live theater (Bruka), and in the warmer months an engineered set of rapids on the Truckee River for whitewater kayaks as well as tubes and swimmers. Wingfield Park offers free concerts during Artown month (July) and at other times as well. The SpaceThe best vibe and contemporary culture next to the Hub Coffee House and the Truckee River. It has the Portland and SF downtown feel with tons of great bars and restaurants in walking distance. You can also take a 5 minute walk to the Casino's and a block away from Daughters Cafe...the best brunch 10 years straight. Love this area and I guarantee you will to. There are two bedrooms: 1 queen and the second room is a twin bed. There is one shared bathroom in between the rooms. Guest AccessCall or text me when you arrive and I will provide a key upon arrival. Interaction with GuestsI am a 3rd generation Nevadan. I have a great home located next to the river and the best coffee Hub in town. It is 1/2 mile to downtown and all the casinos but far enough away that you have peace and quiet in old maple and oak trees. There is a walking trail next to the river and it takes you to over 15 restaurants in walking distance. Everyone who stays here loves it. P.S-this is my house and I live here so we share certain places like the kitchen and bathroom. Everything is very clean and normally I am gone but there are times I am here. I enjoy guest from everywhere. But if you want the house all to yourself there's a chance that I will be here or not. So please don't book if you only want the house for yourselves. The NeighborhoodThe house is next to the walking, biking trails along the Truckee River. The Truckee river brings life to this area and offers so many exciting things to do, places to eat and 5 min walk to downtown strip hotels. Your 30 minutes to Tahoe and during the summer walk to anything going on. Hat Air Balloon races, rib cook off, Italian Festival, football games at the University or hang out at Art Festival or the concerts in the park. Don't miss Food Truck Friday which is a 7 min walk to Idlewild Park. There will be thousands of people there. Getting AroundGetting around is very easy. Located a block from Greyhound Bus Station, and public transportation is on every block. Getting around on foot is the easiest way and offers easy sidewalks with scenery. Other Things to NoteI live and work here and there is a chance you will not have the house to yourself. I do travel so you can inquire if I will be here or not. The house was built by Mayor Dario in 1940 and it has all older amenities so if you want or expect all nice and new things please don't book here. We are good happy and Clean people but the house creeks and squeaks so again if you want perfect four seasons then don't book here. If you're cool easy going and you like socializing a bit and being part of our family then you're very welcome to come and stay with us. You're the type of people who love it here.

We love to entertain and to play board games, and we would be happy to have you join us. If not, that's fine, too. We respect our guests' privacy. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very quiet and safe. It is designed around canyons with miles and miles of beautiful trails for long runs or hikes. There are two playgrounds within easy walking distance of our house and one shopping center a short ways up the road with groceries and a Starbucks. From our house, it is an easy 12-minute drive to Downtown, a 10-minute drive to the Convention Center, and a 13-minute drive to the airport. We are also very convenient to the nearest skiing (Mt. Rose, 30 minutes) and Tahoe (Incline Village, 45 minutes). Getting AroundUnfortunately there is no public transportation convenient to our house. Guests will need to have their own transportation. We have plenty of safe street parking available, and guests with motorcycles or bicycles may park them in the garage. Other Things to NoteWe have two dogs that are very friendly but get very excited (and loud) when new people arrive. They are never allowed in the garage or guest room, so you will only meet them if you choose to come downstairs. The guest room is accessible from street level with no stairs, but every other part of the house requires using stairs. Children of all ages are welcome, but our home is not baby-proofed. OUR HOME IS OPEN TO GUESTS OF ANY RACE, ETHNICITY, RELIGION, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OR GENDER IDENTITY.

The SpaceYou are going to LOVE the 12th story views of the river and downtown. My unit comfortably sleeps 4 with a king bed in the bedroom and a queen Murphy bed with real mattress that folds out in the living room. Not only are there 2 real beds, there are 2 bathrooms each with its own shower to get your party up and off on your adventure in a reasonable time each morning. The unit is beautifully updated throughout with granite and stone everywhere, stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, and nice wood floors in the common areas. This is not a stripped down vacation rental but rather a real home with all of the amenities of home: Amenities include a 55" TV in the living room, 50" TV in the bedroom with and Xbox and PC attached to each for guest use, receiver in living room with iPod hookup, a collection of over 500 DVDs and 20 board games, high speed WIFI, sports equipment for use at neighboring park, and everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, or mix a professional cocktail in the kitchen. Guest AccessI like to think the best of people and have a pretty laissez faire attitude about things - If its not locked up (a couple closets) you are welcome and encouraged to use it so long as you return it to its original location in the condition you found it in upon your departure. Regarding consumables - (say a bottle of wine or bag of popcorn) so long as you replace or leave me fair value for the things consumed plus something for my trouble to shop for them go right ahead. A laundry room is available to guests on the second floor downstairs. The building has a rooftop common area that is a great place to catch some sunshine and even better views of the river and downtown. My parking pass to the garage across the river is potentially available for no additional charge upon request. Interaction with GuestsI'd like to speak with all guests on the phone before a stay. I travel A LOT but always have my phone on me and would love to take your phone call if there is something I can help out with. Because my travel will unlikely align perfectly with yours, you will most likely be retrieving the keys from a lockbox. If I do happen to be in town upon your arrival I'd love to hand the keys over in person and give you a tour before my departure. The NeighborhoodImmediately below the building are two large parks: 1) Wingfield park is an island park with a built in amphitheater that hosts many free summer concerts and is my preferred route for my stroll into downtown 2) Barbara Bennett park on the west side of the building has well maintained tennis and basketball courts as well as a jungle gym for the kids and a rental shack for river inter-tube rentals during the summer. All of the best dining in downtown is concentrated right across the river along the river walk, N Sierra, and West streets. If you are doing dinner and a movie, the theater is literally just across the river too! A couple blocks in the other direction are many trendy restaurants and bars on California Ave. If you prefer to cook at home, there is a community "co-op" (like a locally owned Whole Foods) directly behind the building for all of your grocery needs. The building is the perfect distance from the downtown casinos - no more than 6 blocks to any of them but far enough that it stays relatively quiet at night. Other attractions just blocks away include: Nevada Art Museum, National Automobile Museum, and the National Bowling Stadium. Getting AroundIt is really an ideal location if you are coming from a distance: Flying in and don't mind walking a few blocks with your bags? Catch a free hotel shuttle from one of the nearby casinos. Amtrack and Greyhound are each only 3 blocks away. Megabus from SF and Sacramento drops at the Silver Legacy just 6 blocks away. If you are driving in, there is convenient parking just across the river at the Parking Gallery on W First St. Need to get around Reno without a car? There is a bus stop on Arlington at the park just downstairs and a free city run shuttle that runs from this stop to the UNR campus.

The SpaceOur condo overlooks the Truckee River whitewater/kayaking course in downtown Reno. In the distance we see the Peavine Peak foothills, so it is a beautiful view year-round. This 1-bedroom condo was fully renovated in summer 2012 and has new furniture, new large and small appliances, new dishware and cooking supplies, a new TV, and artwork that celebrates Reno history and its Hot August Nights classic car show. We provide Roku internet TV, thousands of free movies and TV shows via our Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions, and a wide choice of other programming available as "smart TV" apps. Speakers in the living room are ready for your iPhone4/iPod/iPad to play music via iTunes or Pandora. However, our guests have told us that they were most entertained looking out the living room picture window to watch the ducks, geese, dogs, and people in the adjacent park as well as the ever-changing skies moving across the mountains. The Reno-Truckee River kayaking course is also directly across the street and can be viewed from the living room and kitchen windows. Our private 28 x 10 south patio allows for comfortable outdoor entertaining. A new barbecue and patio furniture were added May 2013, and the tables seat up to 8. Also, the building's shared 16th floor deck has spectacular views of the valley and surrounding mountains. We have found it a great place to end the day with our own little "happy hour." In our neighborhood, you can stroll along the riverside footpath, visit unique eateries, and imbibe at the monthly Winewalk in the adjacent Riverwalk District. On the south side of the river, the Nevada Art Museum is 5 blocks away and the National Auto Museum (featuring the Harrah collection) is just 8 short blocks. Walk out our condo's front door and across the street to experience entertainment at the Wingfield Park bandstand. Performances take placer during the milder months and are most fun and frequent--every night!--during the annual July month-long Artown celebration of arts and culture. Eight downtown casinos are within 6 blocks of the condo, the National Bowling Stadium is 8 blocks away, and the Reno Events Center is 9 blocks away. The University of Nevada-Reno campus is just 1.5 miles north.
