The SpaceWhat started out as “Grammy's House" has evolved into a family oriented, pet friendly vacation paradise. The house is perfectly located at the end of a small residential street with Angle Pond, a 163 acre, 4 season lake, as it's backyard/playground. Despite the country feel, here is a grocery store, pharmacy, Dunkin Donuts, Cafe', restaurants and gas within 3 miles. There are also many trails on Conservation lands in town to hike. The dogs love the trails. I have maps if you have the interest. The house is about thirty feet from the water. In that area there is a patio with two large tables with 10 chairs, hammock, lawn chairs, a glider, a smaller dining table with two chairs right at the water's edge and a very large firepit. The dock, which holds the family float, a jon boat, row boat, canoe and the paddle boat, extends out 50 ft. Three stone stairs lead down to a private sandy beach that is great for making sand castles and mud pies, relaxing on one of the five chairs or taking one of the 5 kayaks parked there out for an adventure. The canoe is tied to the dock. The sailboat are tucked against the beach fence with the kayaks. The grey storage container on the beach is full of pails and shovels. The first one houses the other sand toys, like boats and construction equipment. The third container has the paddles for the kayaks, seats for the boats and the fire starter things. The wood is behind the hammock. There is a swim raft about 20 ft. out from the end of the dock. There is a portable garage chock full of inflatable floats and toys, another one with adult life jackets, fishing rods and gear, trolling motor and battery and one with snorkeling equipment, unopened inflatables and assorted children's and dogs' life jackets. The side yard doesn't qualify as a lawn, even though it is mostly green and I cut it short. This makes it perfect for outdoor games, like badmitten and bocce ball. It is also a worry free spot for the dogs to play. I have put up an open weave plastic fence to help contain the dogs. It is not foolproof and the dogs can exit via the lake to get around it. It is perfect for the less adventuresome pups. On that side there is a deck with bench seats on two sides and chairs on the others that is accessed through the porch door. Beside the deck there is a full sized, full functioning Weber grill. An outside light is there for late night cooking. There is a gravel area where you can park. There is a large, hot topped area with plenty of parking and space to play basketball and use the riding toys. The sheds on the other side of the house contain bicycles (16) of all sizes, 4 skateboards, 6 scooters, a unicycle and 7 helmets. The second shed has baby/toddler equipment and toys. Between the two jobs is our bicycle built for two.
The house begins with a foyer full of outdoor toys, including pogo sticks, stilts, and crutches. There are many outdoor games and remote controlled vehicles. Next to this is a utility room with full washer and dryer. The kitchen is a chef's dream, with full refrigerator/freezer, microwave, 5 burner stove with convection oven and a huge assortment of small appliances and kitchen gadgets. This is my winter playground and I allow you full use of it, except for the few shelves where I keep my gluten-free cookware. The dining table seats 6 comfortably and expand to seat 8. There is a set of shelves with greater than 70 board games and another full of puzzles for all levels. The living room has my favorite recliner and two sofas, one of which converts to a full sized bed. There is a large screen smart TV that has cable TV, Netflix, Amazon and Hulu Plus. There are USB ports so you can show off your vacation photos on the big screen. Wifi is available and the desktop computer if you need it (just ask). One of the walls is lined with books for our enjoyment. My favorite room is the porch, which has 11 windows and a glass storm door. It's feels like being outdoors without the weather. My perch is a gliding rocking chair that is close to the gas fireplace and has unobstructed views of the lake and the summer shows it provides of happy vacationers playing, boating, and showing off their waterskiing abilities. There is a large sofa and a loveseat on the porch. l have the skeeball game where you would expect a coffee table. There is a small dining table right up against the windows on the porch. In one corner there is a cabinet full of beach towels for you to use. The other corner has a coat rack that is used to dry the towels after you use them.
The bathroom also has big, fluffy home-style towels and accessories, full tub/shower, heat lamp, fan and emergency medical kit. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and blow dryer are provided, as my goal is to provide as much as I can for you so you don't have to carry so much from home. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed and full dresser for your use. Upstairs there is a set of twin beds in the room that houses the toys for the younger set. The other upstairs room has a double bed, dresser, desk, craft supplies and children's books. All the bedrooms have individual wall heaters, flannel sheets and heated mattress pads to keep you cozy in the winter. I recently broke down and installed window air conditioners to keep you cool. There is enough space in all the bedrooms for a portacrib.
Our goal is to thrill you. My favorite word is “WOW!" and I've heard it many times since I started renting. I can't stress enough that I want to know if there is anything you might need or want to make your time spent at Lane's Lakehouse the best ever! Your joy in staying here makes me very happy.
