The SpaceMy house was build in 1826. It's has lots of character with wavy glass windows and old floors that aren't quiet level. Located on Rt. 5 in Newbury Village, you have easy access to nearby cities and towns but still maintains the best of Vermont village life. Wireless internet and a Verizon booster will keep you connected. There is also AT&T cell coverage in the village. Guest AccessPlease feel at home in guest room and living room. Large bath is mostly private as there is a half bath off the owner's rooms. The front porch is a wonderful place to read a book in the summer. Use of the kitchen is not included but there is a general store a short walk away. DARKROOM Traditional black and white darkroom available for an additional fee. This could include film, chemistry, paper, cameras, even lessons, if needed. If you are interested in learning, renewing a love for B & W analog photography, or are a seasoned pro just looking for new subjects, please let me know and we can make a custom plan just for you. Please message me and we'll work out the details. Interaction with GuestsPlease let me know when you plan on arriving. My goal is to be available so I can show you around and answer any questions you may have. Then, basically, I'll retreat upstairs, to the garden or into my office, so that you can have some privacy and relax in the living room. But I also like to chat, so if you're interested, we can have some tea and I'll tell you stories about life in a small village. The NeighborhoodNewbury is a beautiful area of Vermont. We have the quintessential village with a large Common and great Village Store. The library is open three days a week and there's a Post Office, and a local bank. We also have a small thrift shop which is also open three days a week. There is a really nice walking loop that covers about 2 miles that takes you down some back roads in the Village. There are several small towns with restaurants and shops close by and small cities, like Montpelier, Hanover, St. Johnsbury and Littleton, are a short drive away. Larger cities, like Boston and Montreal, are a few hours away but are surprisingly easy to get to. Newbury is the second biggest town in area, with Stowe coming in first. But Newbury has more miles of roads than any other town in the state, most of those being dirt roads that can lead you through woods and farm lands. GPS is not recommended but good tires are. Winter tires, not all seasons, are best if you're traveling the back roads. Getting AroundNewbury is right on Route 5, which is state highway and well maintained in the winter. There isn't any real public transportation but we are well located between Hanover/Dartmouth, St. Johnsbury, and Montpelier. We are a little over three hours from Boston, just under two hours to Burlington and Montreal is under four. Other Things to NoteTwo cats, one little dog make this house a home. I keep the cats out of the room but they may take an interest in you and want some attention. Lydia, the Westie, loves people and will greet you but she'll soon realize that she's overdue for a nap.
