The SpaceThe house is designed for entertaining, featuring large open spaces, a sunken living room, granite fireplace, piano area, and an island in the kitchen. This is the perfect house to bring all your friends to for a ski weekend or a summer retreat. In-House entertainment and amenities: Abijah Manor features a fully stocked kitchen, Wifi, countless volumes of books, jig-saw puzzles, and just about every board game you can think of. Sit around the fire pit with your friends late into the night. In the warm months, you may lounge on the deck and swim in the pool. Enjoy your Netflix account through Roku on the flat screen in the living room. The children's room is equipped with a Nintendo 64 and an Xbox, keeping your young ones (or you) entertained. Explore the property's five acres, and meander on the adjoining trails. You can even get some work (hopefully not too much!) done in the office, located in a quiet corner of the house. Guest AccessThe entire house is yours! Please keep in mind that one wing of the house--the part with the ping-pong table and bedroom by the pool-- is unheated and will be chilly, but still usable, in the winter. Interaction with GuestsThis is your vacation and I will not bother you while you're at the house. The NeighborhoodSkiing: The property is located only 15 minutes from Pat's Peak! It is also only 30 minutes from Crotched Mountain, and 40 from Sunapee. Lakes: The Abijah Manor is just a quarter mile up the road from Abijah Bridge and Lake Horace. Here you will find a small boat launch for canoes and kayaks. If you drive ten minutes around the lake, Chase State Park offers a public beach, with launch for larger boats. Also just ten minutes away is the Deering Reservoir. The Deering Resevoir, my personal favorite, offers stunning sunsets, small islands with blueberry bushes leaning out over the water, and is frequently visited by loons. Everett Lake in Clough State Park is features a large dam you can walk on, and miles of great trails. Park by the dam for a great walk across and a picnic lunch at the gazebo. Other attractions: The Henniker Brewing Company is an up and coming brewery featuring many award-winning beers. Their small brewery is 20 minutes away and minutes from Pat's Peak, and is absolutely worth a visit. Public Tennis courts are located in the town center by the library. Getting AroundYou'll need a car. Other Things to NoteUnfortunately, this house is not suitable for those with mobility restrictions or small children.

    2br cottage
This picturesque country cottage is nestled on 300 feet of very private forested frontage on Lake Horace, a pristine lake in the heart of the Piscataquoge water shed near the town of Weare. Enveloped in the charming ambiance of southern yellow pine, the cottage is rustic, secluded, cozy and comfortable. It has a fully equipped open concept kitchen and great room with vaulted ceiling and a large stone fireplace with plenty of firewood. If you want to split kindling you can bring an axe. You'll have a bathroom and two cozy open ceiling bedrooms - a master with full bed and guest with two twins. The cottage also features a screened porch, deck with grill, tools and propane and your own dock and rowboat just yards away. The couch in the great room is a high-riser, in case you require more sleeping room, and a folding cot and crib are available. The dock, with steps into the water, is ideal for swimming and fishing or you may want to take a short walk to HI - POINT, our own peninsula beach, which we share with just six neighbors. You can also row to the beach and tie up at the diving dock. To really help you relax and "get away from it all", you'll have only a radio/cd player and no house phone, mail, internet or TV to interfere with the call of the loons. But, food shopping and newspapers are just a short drive, along with fine restaurants, golf and orchards. You'll find information about them, hiking, fishing and local attractions on the coffe table in front of the hearth . Towels and bed linens are not supplied, but you'll have plenty of blankets and pillows. If you use the rowboat, you should be aware that vest type life jackets for each person are required by law. Fisherpersons must purchase a fishing license, available at the Henniker Pharmacy and several other local shops. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to catch a huge Lake Horace largemouth bass, smallmouth, pickerel, perch, crappie or trout! Our cabin is not just any rental. It is a bucolic home for couples, kids and parents to get to know each other and to appreciate nature in peace and quiet. It is meant for just that purpose, like enjoying breakfast on the deck and sunset dinners at your waterside picnic table. If you have any questions about the cottage, local facilities, activities or want some advice on how to catch the "big one" in Lake Horace, just email us. Life jackets must be US Coast Guard approved. All rentals are during summer only, one week minimum, Saturday to Saturday. Inquiries are welcome at any time, but rental reservations can be neither taken nor confirmed until March 1st. The cottage is professionally cleaned between renters, but daily housekeeping and personal supplies are the guest's responsibility. Refuse is collected once a week by our caretaker, usually on Friday or Saturday. A 9% New Hampshire Rooms and Meals tax will be added to the rate. There will be no refunds, except for the $300 refundable security/damage deposit, unless the cottage is re-rented for the cancelled period. Located in Weare about 85 miles from Boston, 20 from Manchester and 13 west of Concord, the cottage is bounded by the Contoocook River to the north and Goffstown, Deering, Hillsboro and "the only Henniker on earth". It is near the end of a well maintained, private, 11/3 mile dirt road serving only 13 homes. Your nearest neighbor will be about 300 feet away. The setting is tranquil and special with views of low rolling hills across the lake. Mt. Monadnock, hiking, golf, fine dining, shopping, historic and other attractions are just a comfortable drive away. And it's a beautiful day trip to Franconia Notch, the Flume, Mt. Washington and the Kankamangus Trail in the White Mountains. Historic Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth, at the seacoast, offers a wonderful learning experience for children and a great shopping and dining opportunity for you. Parking is at the front of the cottage across from the woodshed.
