The SpaceCozy, nicely decorated private room with a full size bed (1,40m wide), desk, closet and shelf space in a large family home with a nice backyard. Our house has wifi and AC, so you will be comfortable and connected!
Excellent location for access to the Big Apple. A five-minute walk through the estate section will bring you to the train or bus for a thirty-minute ride to New York City. If you come by car, we are a few blocks from the Garden State Parkway.
Our house is in a quiet residential neighborhood which does not mean that your evenings have to be dull. In close proximity to a myriad of restaurants, movie theaters and boutiques in downtown Montclair. Montclair is known for its restaurant scene, and there are plenty of places to eat or order from in the area in any price range! Guest AccessBathroom (shared)

Guests are also welcome to hang out in our common rooms: living room, basement, kitchen, or our lovely backyard, which has a patio, outdoor seating, garden, and fire-pit! The driveway can accommodate many cars, so there is also off-street parking for guests. The house has AC and wifi access. Interaction with GuestsGuests will be provided with a spare key, so you may come and go as you please.
This is a family home, my husband, two grown children, and I live here full time, so there will always be somebody available to help with any questions or information you may have about the city, the area, or anything else! My son is in college nearby, and my daughter just graduated and commutes to the city daily (very easy to do), so the area is great for internships or jobs in Manhattan or around New Jersey as well as for students (particularly at Bloomfield College, Montclair State University, Seton Hall University, and even Caldwell University).
We are a very laid back family and love having guests and welcoming new people into our home, and we are usually home in the evenings after commuting back from NYC. We are happy to provide any help or info that is needed to make your stay comfortable.
We have as much or as little interaction with guests as you would like and are respectful of your space and privacy, as well as welcoming if you would like to join us for dinner or a glass of wine in the evenings. The NeighborhoodOur street is a quiet side street with little traffic. The town of Montclair is a bustling suburb with tons of restaurants, eclectic food, and interesting laid-back people, and Montclair’s Main Street has been listed as one of the top in the US.
We live on the border of Montclair and Glen Ridge, the latter being a quaint town and one of the last places NJ with gas street lamps – beautiful in the winter! The area has many beautiful parks and quaint shops to explore.
Montclair also has an Art Museum and many bars and restaurants that are great to go out in! Getting AroundLocation, location. You will have easy walking access to the train and bus to New York City (just 30 minutes to NYC from the train station or bus stop).
Should you come by car, there is parking in our driveway. Uber is very cheap and quick in this area, with an Uber to Hoboken (another great place to go out) costing about $20, to Morristown (also great for going out) at about $25, to Newark Liberty International Airport costing only $20-25 with regular traffic, or to NYC (if you choose not to take public transportation) costing about $45. Other Things to NotePreviously we have had long term guests (from ten days up to two months), so we are open to anything! If you need a place for an extended stay for a semester, internship, or anything else, we would love to open our home to you.
