The SpaceThis woodland retreat in Newton NJ is on 10 private acres and just 75 minutes from NYC. It's one of only six private properties overlooking a state-owned, 117 acre glacial lake.
Elements of our cabin were built 100 years ago from a Sears cabin kit. The cabin is rustic in nature, with the plumbing, electricity, kitchen and bathroom up to basic modern standards. One bedroom has a queen bed, the 2nd bedroom has bunk beds .
Eat-in-kitchen includes dishwasher, toaster, microwave, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker and plenty of pots, dishes, utensils and a large picture window with stunning lake views.
New Jersey weather ranges from hot & humid to quite cool. Two propane heaters warm up the cabin quickly and there are fans in every room.
Amenities: Washer & dryer, filtered well water, gas grill, bath towels and linens. Pets negotiable. Kids are most welcome.
There is no WiFi nor air conditioning.
All major cell carriers work.
When possible, I can be flexible with check in and check out times. No smoking inside the cabin. The NeighborhoodThere are a number of hikes from the cabin, and nearby activities include antiquing, nature preserves, golfing, farmers markets, pick-your-own farms, waterpark and flying lessons.
Take the canoe out to explore the beaver lodge or see an eagle swoop down to catch a fish; paddles and life jackets are provided. Gas powered motors are prohibited on the lake. From the private dock, jump into the fresh water or wade in slowly from the adjacent shallow entry.
In this serene location, hard to believe just ten minutes away are large grocery stores and a variety of big box stores.
Other Things to NoteWe love our cabin, the surrounding woods, and lake and enjoy sharing it with others. We expect our guests to respect the property, nature and our neighbors. Let me know if you plan on any additional daytime visitors. The cabin property is not for large social gatherings or parties.
As is typical of the area, the rocky terrain is uneven and steep in places. Sensible shoes are highly recommended.
