The SpaceOur house used to be part of a very well known and popular B&B located in Arroyo Seco. Therefore, all rooms have private access, are large in size, decorated in a typical NM style, offer full en-suite bathrooms, and a high level of comfort. More importantly, our location is fabulous - located just 1 mile north of the Village of Arroyo Seco, nine miles from the Taos Pueblo and Taos Plaza and just nine miles up the Twining Valley to get to Taos Ski Valley, a simply terrific ski resort. If you are looking for a spacious, simple and uncluttered room in which to lay your head(s) and gear for a few nights while ripping it up on the mountain, Lobo is for you. Arroyo Seco is beautiful with views in all directions. The village itself is quirky and interesting and home to fantastic food, galleries, and shops. A vehicle is required in this area as there is no public transport. There is plenty of parking at the house and easy private access to the rooms. There is no grade to get to the house so in almost all conditions, the house can be reached with no need for four wheel drive. We do live on the premises and will be available to answers any questions or address any special needs. Our guests will have private access to their room(s) directly from the parking area. The casita is around the on the north side of the property and there is no need to enter through our main house - you can come and go as you desire at anytime. A key to your room will be available upon arrival. Given that we have traveled extensively to all continents, lived abroad in Europe and Asia, have been both hosts and guests, and are ourselves users of Airbnb, we are happy to provide any information to our guests as needed, though we completely understand if guests simply want to be left alone to enjoy their time in the area. Arroyo Seco is simply the gem of Taos County, and Northern New Mexico. It is located at 7,500 feet above sea level and, from our property, one has 360 degree views south to the Taos Pueblo and Taos town, west out over Hondo Mesa and the Rio Grande Gorge, north and east to the Sangre de Cristo mountains, part of the Southern Rockies. From our house guests can find easy access to all of Taos' outdoor activities including, but certainly not limited to, skiing, horseback riding, hot air-ballooning, fly fishing in the Rio Hondo, biking amid rustic country roads, hiking in the one-million acre Carson National Forest, or rafting the Rio Grande and Rio Chama rivers. For those interested in eating, shopping, and viewing art, there are simply too many incredible culinary delights, interesting and even quirky shops in addition to fantastic galleries and art shops throughout Arroyo Seco and Taos town to mention. Be sure to take some time to explore…it would be very hard to go wrong! A lunch or breakfast once or twice (or even more!) down at the Taos Cow in Arroyo Seco certainly should not be missed. And without a doubt, head to Aceq one night for an awesome supper served in delicious and creative ways and using local ingredients from area producers. Unfortunately, public transportation is very limited in this area so a vehicle is pretty much required (unless you are on a bike or motorcycle!) There is no grade and therefore no need for four wheel drive to access our house or its parking area. The Chile Line does run shuttles up to TSV – (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) CHILE LINE TAOS SKI VALLEY for more information and a schedule. It picks up and drops off near to the house at the community center in Arroyo Seco where you can leave your car. The SpaceOur house is set amidst pines and juniper with views that stretch wide and long. It's quiet up here with the birds, the rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. There are also elk and the occasional bear. Yet Taos and the Ski Valley are each only 20 minutes away. And, Arroyo Seco, a tiny hamlet of artists, with the best ice cream in the world, a few good restaurants, and interesting shops is just a few minutes down the mountain. You enter the suite from the portale. In the summer I put out the hammock and the flowers are blooming. There are chairs and a table for al fresco dining, cocktails, or scribbling. In summertime, the portale is the room you'll use most, In the winter the view, from there and the suite is, more often than not, a snowy, winter wonderland. The views still stretch to the gorge and beyond. The suite has a queen bed in the bedroom as well as a day bed and a table and chairs where you can eat breakfast or serve yourself a take- out dinner or lunch from one of the restaurants in Arroyo Seco. There is a small fridge and microwave as well as plates, glasses and cutlery in the passageway to the bath. There is local tv as well as a collection of dvds. The suite is self sufficient and private, tucked into the lower floor of our home. Guest AccessThe suite is accessed from its private portale which looks out into the juniper and pine and beyond, to the gorge. The downstairs is yours; the upstairs is ours. Interaction with GuestsThis is our home and we are available if needed and look forward to meeting you, however, we rent the downstairs only when we don't have family or guests of our own staying with us and, if you come, we will leave you to enjoy your privacy. We are always available by text, email or phone. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is El Salto, just up the mountain from the artist village of Arroyo Seco which has interesting shops, a few good restaurants and Abe's for award winning burritos and grocery necessities. We love the tranquility of El Salto, the profound quiet. We love to watch the birds-- hummers in the summer, magpies in the winter. Year round, the flickers. We like the walks. We are on the edge of the wilderness and there are hikes and ambles just outside the door, whether down Coyote Road or up the mountain and into the woods. And, we love the sunsets. Magnificent ones most every evening. The Ski Valley, 25 minutes away, offers even more hikes as well as biking and winter sports and Taos, 25 minutes in the other direction, offers the Pueblo, farmers markets, flea markets, galleries, more shopping and more variety in restaurants. Plus music and entertainment. Getting AroundYou'll need a car to get to us and it should be four wheel drive if it is the winter. Parking is right in front of the portale and the entrance to the guest suite. Other Things to Note5 night minimum stay $15 per night for third person Check out our Casa Rosa on Martyrs Lane in Taos if you prefer to be in town or want to stay both places.

For those interested in eating, shopping, and viewing art, there are simply too many incredible culinary delights, interesting and even quirky shops in addition to fantastic galleries and art shops throughout Arroyo Seco and Taos town to mention. The SpaceThe Master Suite at Casa Vista Clara is located in our beautiful, spacious, one of a kind southwestern home in the small, charming community of Arroyo Seco located North of Taos on the way to Taos Ski Valley. Casa Vista Clara is located about 20 mins (10.1 miles) driving from the historic Taos Plaza and 20 minutes (11.1 miles) from the lifts at Taos Ski Valley. Basically the best of both worlds in what we like to think is one of the most beautiful little corners of the universe. This IS NOT a hotel or private rental property. The Master Suite is one private wing of our larger residence, and welcomes guests to share our home with me, Abeille, where I also live. This wing of the house is a large and comfortable space overlooking private meadows and Taos Mountain. It is furnished with one King and one Queen bed, a sitting area with kiva fireplace and two large walk through closets to a spacious His and Hers bathroom offering a full size bathtub and shower room. The property sits on a beautiful and privileged piece of land at the end of a dirt road with large cottonwood trees, meadows and streams. The home is fully furnished in a simple and rustic way offering a large living room, a large fully equipped kitchen with an island and full size guest dedicated refrigerator, full laundry room, radiant floor heat, 2 wood stoves, two large patios (covered and uncovered), ample parking and all the amazing views and fresh air that Taos and especially Arroyo Seco is known for. Feel free to truly be part of our family while sharing the homes' common areas (patios, living room & kitchen) or close the door and enjoy your own side of the residence and come and go as you please through your own private side door entrance. Whether you are coming to Taos to relax, just passing through, or are looking to ski/ride the slopes, drink in those big blue New Mexican skies, enjoy the peace, quiet and incredible beauty of the wide open spaces and let our family welcome you to Arroyo Seco. We hope you'll feel at home. Nuestro casa es su casa! Guest AccessYou can access the Master Suite through the living room and common entrance of the house or via private door that opens onto the South facing patio surrounded by natural grasses, flowers and herb gardens. The Master Suite opens into the living room giving easy access to the kitchen and the rest of the common areas and patios of the house, however, the Master Suite can also be very private and independent by simply shutting the door. Casa Vista Clara is located at the end of a dirt road. It is a maintained dirt road with almost no slope, but please be aware that you do have to drive on dirt to access the residence and that during the winter months it can be wet, slushy and/or muddy. Ample parking for all sizes of vehicle. Parking area is shared. Interaction with GuestsOnce again this is a semi shared space with me, Abeille, if you choose to use the kitchen and common areas of the house. I also live at Casa Vista Clara in a separate wing of the house so I am in and out depending on my travel and work schedule and generally am available in person. When I am not traveling, working or enjoying our beautiful valley my family and I enjoy interacting and getting to know new people from all walks of life. I welcome people who are looking to get away from it all and are looking for a little privacy, peace and quiet. My family and I love sharing fun and adventurous suggestions for things to do around Taos and the Northern part of the state, so please do not hesitate to ask. I look forward to sharing my home and community with you! The NeighborhoodCasa Vista Clara is located in the community of Arroyo Seco in the area known as El Salto. Arroyo Seco is a small New Mexican village situated immediately below Taos Mountain steeped in the rich and vibrant local Northern New Mexican Hispanic culture. The village of Arroyo Seco is 9 miles from the town of Taos on the way to Taos Ski Valley. In the village of Arroyo Seco you have access to a great scene of local artists and artisans who have many galleries there as well as several coffee shops, an ice cream parlor, a small natural foods market, and several excellent dining options. Walking or biking to the village center of Arroyo Seco (1.3 miles, 25 mins walking) is a great way to spend a relaxed afternoon. We highly recommend the Taos Cow for the best fresh all natural local ice cream in the world (we think so anyways!) and a good sandwich or Aceq restaurant for great locally sourced comfort food. Sabroso restaurant is also a great option for a great margarita or drink, live music and a delicious meal. Getting AroundThis property and the surrounding community is best accessed by car unless you are prepared to bike or walk long distances. If you are not driving your own car to Taos and are flying into Albuquerque or Santa Fe we recommend renting a car at the airport and driving to Taos as this allows for the most flexibility and best rental pricing for enjoying our valley. While it is limited, there is some public transportation with the local bus system. The Chili Line has many trips a day both to Taos Ski Valley ($2, 25 minutes) and to the Taos Plaza ($2, 20 mins) from the KTAOS Solar Center in the village of Arroyo Seco. Search (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for Taos Chili Line for more info. During the ski season Taos Ski Valley does offer a daily shuttle service from the Albuquerque International Sunport to Taos, Taos Ski Valley, and the surrounding community. Contact Taos Ski Valley directly for making reservations. Other Things to NoteIn house Massage & Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Treatments are available at your request. If you are interested please schedule with me in advance if possible! I am a Licensed and practicing massage therapist and independent Ayurveda consultant here in the Taos valley. I love sharing my art, passion and knowledge with new people. During the winter months 4 wheel or all-wheel-drive cars are not necessary to access the property, but they are recommended, especially if you plan on visiting the ski area during any winter storms. Wi-Fi internet generally works well, however we are still in rural Northern New Mexico, so it can be patchy at times. T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling booster installed on premises. Verizon has solid cell phone service at the residence. Other cell providers besides Verizon and T-Mobile can be variable on the property.

Getting AroundSummer fun in/around Taos: Drive the Enchanted Circle. This is a beautiful 85 mile loop north from Taos on U.S. 64 (same as the main street, Paseo del Pueblo Norte) to NM 522 to the town of Questa, then take right on NM 38 . Just stay on this beautiful winding road through valleys and mountains of the Kit Carson National forest. There are a number of towns – Red River, Eagle Nest, Angel Fire – and some great places to stop along the roadside to view the scenery. Fishing is good @ Eagle Nest State Park (huge 2400 acre lake). Worth a stop to rest, even w/o fishing gear. (1)Drive to Taos Ski Valley. From condo drive left (north) on NM 150, approx 15 miles to the end of the road. NM 150 hugs a beautiful cascading brook most of the way to the ski valley, where there are a few shops, a burger/beer types of cafés and gondola tour up to Wheeler Peak, the tallest mountain in NM (approx 13,000 ft). There is an authentic German restaurant, The Bavarian, at the top of Wheeler Peak. Take a light jacket b/c it’s usually quite cool at this elevation, sometimes even in the middle of the day. Along the way, the little town of Arroyo Seco is a fun place – mercantile store has loads of stuff to look at; Abe’s bar has anything you could want to drink; his wife make great tamales to eat there or to go; the Taos Cow has good ice cream cones/sundaes. (2)Whitewater raft the Rio Grande River. There are a number of outfitters that leave from the Tourist/visitor’s center on US 64 just south of Taos. Look one up in the visitor’s guide called “Tempo” or call from yellow pages. Cam and I do the trip without any trouble, so know it’s not a rigorous outing. The guides are very well trained – they tell you very clearly how to avoid trouble. It’s exciting, informative (guides tell about the geologic formations, flora/fauna, history, etc) & affordable ($50 per person+/- For ½ day). (3)Millicent Rogers Museum. In an old house just off of Paseo del Pueblo Norte @ cutoff for county road BA030. You’ll see sign directing to the museum. Millicent was an heiress to the Standard Oil fortune who left the East Coast to live in Taos, became a collector of native textiles and jewelry, etc. Nice to see such an extensive collection in one place. (4)Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. From condo, go right on NM 150 to traffic light. Go straight onto US 64, travel approx 10 miles or so. In the morning there are often hot air balloons taking off from the bottom of the gorge; at sunset, the view is spectacular, looking at sky or down approx 650 ft to the Rio Grande River below. On the way to the gorge, there a nice little brew pub on the right, Taos Brewing Co., to wet your whistle. (5)Taos Pueblo. Tiwa Indians have lived on the Pueblo continuously for over 1000 yrs. It’s worth a guided tour to see the San Geronimo Church and the pueblo dwellings. There are arts, crafts, and jewelry for sale on the pueblo. (6)Rancho de Taos. San Fransisco de Asis Church is something to see here. Probably one of the most photographed churches of the adobe/Mission style. It is located south of Taos on NM 68 (Paseo del Pueblo Sur). There is a nice shop here, as well, called Chimayo Trading Post. (7)Our favorite restaurants are (in no particular order): Orlando’s (New Mexican food, inexpensive); Lambert’s on the Plaza (great food, nice patio dining) ; Doc Martin’s in the Taos Inn (this is a real classic, especially nice weekend brunch) – you can hear live music for free every night in the lobby of the Taos Inn; Sabrosa (on the way to the Taos Ski Valley, in an historic old adobe home, with a great bar); Graham’s Grille (on main drag near Plaza – really fresh, local fare); Trading Post Café (lots of atmosphere, great service, really imaginative menu) just south of town in Ranch de Taos; Sushi a la Hattori just behind the Overland Ranch Store (has authentic Japanese food, sushi, and a spectacular view of the Taos mountain). This is just a little of what there is to do in Taos. The local land line phone for the condo is: ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), if you need to leave a contact number with anyone. Other Things to NoteDear Guests, Hope that you will be able to enjoy the Taos casita soon. After arriving to Albuquerque Airport, drive north to Santa Fe, NM. When you drive north from Santa Fe to Taos, it will be on US 285/84 for about 20 miles to Espanola, where you pick up NM 68 north, the rest of the way to Taos, which is approx 45 more miles. The drive from Santa Fe to Taos takes about an hour to 1.5 hrs. It is really a scenic drive once you get beyond the city of Espanola; the Rio Grande River is to your left as you drive north. When you arrive in Taos, you will be on the main street, called Paseo del Pueblo Sur. You’ll pass the town plaza on your left; go through a few traffic lights; the street becomes Paseo del Pueblo Norte; eventually you find yourself through town, and proceeding toward the Taos Ski Valley. Turn right at the last traffic light, on NM 150 (a/k/a the Ski Valley Road). Travel approx 1 mile or so, past Pizano’s pizza on right, to La Vida Feliz, on left. Sign is painted on a large adobe stone. Make first right into row of condos; ours is approx midway up on left, unit number 13. There should be everything you need there, including linens, kitchen/bath items, coffeemaker/filters, trash bags, paper towels, etc. Washer and dryer are small stackable kind in the hall closet between kitchen and bedrooms. If you need to buy anything, Smith’s Grocery or Cid’s are the better grocery stores in Taos (locally owned). The condo has 1 king, 2 twins and a sleeper sofa. Just north of La Vida Feliz is the Quail Ridge Resort, with swimming pool, tennis courts and deli. Kurt Edlebrach is the owner/director of tennis there. He is a long-time Taos resident and is all-around helpful if you need help or advice. Please check with Kurt regarding use the swimming pool, hot tub, and tennis courts. Skiing is, of course, one of the finest things to do in winter. Taos Ski Basin is alpine skiing at its best.

The SpaceThe Guest Wing at Casa Vista Clara is located in our beautiful, spacious, one of a kind southwestern home in the small, charming community of Arroyo Seco located North of Taos on the way to Taos Ski Valley. THIS IS NOT A PRIVATE RENTAL PROPERTY OR ENTIRE HOME. The Guest Wing is one private wing of our larger residence, and welcomes guests to share our home with me, Abeille, where I also live. This guest wing is comprised of a large and comfortable space with beautiful wooden viga roofing, one queen bed, and a sitting area with a kiva fireplace. The bathroom for this space is located just outside the bedroom' door down the hallway connecting to the living room and is shared with me, Abeille. The space has a private entrance that overlooks gardens, private meadows and Taos Mountain. The property sits on a beautiful and privileged piece of land at the end of a dirt road with large cottonwood trees, meadows, and streams. Guest AccessYou can access the Guest Wing through the living room and common entrance of the house or via private door that opens onto the East facing patio surrounded by natural grasses, flowers and herb gardens. The Guest Wing opens into the shared kitchen area/living room via a hallway giving easy access to the kitchen and the rest of the common areas and patios of the house. However, the Guest Wing can also be very private and independent by simply shutting the door. Casa Vista Clara is located at the end of a dirt road. It is a maintained dirt road with almost no slope, but please be aware that you do have to drive on dirt to access the residence and that during the winter months it can be wet, slushy, snowy, and/or muddy. During the winter months 4 wheel /all-wheel-drive/SUV cars are not necessary to access the property, but they are recommended if you plan on visiting the ski area during any winter storms. We generally have no problem accessing the property year round in our own 2 wheel drive vehicles. Ample parking for all sizes of vehicle. Parking area is shared. Interaction with GuestsOnce again this is a semi shared space with me, Abeille, if you choose to use the kitchen and common areas of the house. As mentioned above the bathroom for the Guest Wing is shared with me, Abeille. If you are not driving your own car to Taos and are flying into Albuquerque or Santa Fe we recommend renting a car at the airport and driving to Taos as this allows for the most flexibility and best pricing for enjoying our valley. While it is very limited, there is some public transportation with the local bus system. The Chili Line has many trips a day both to Taos Ski Valley ($2, 25 minutes) and to the Taos Plaza ($2, 20 mins) from the community center in the village of Arroyo Seco. Search (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for Taos Chili Line for more info. During the ski season Taos Ski Valley does offer a daily shuttle service from the Albuquerque International Sunport to Taos, Arroyo Seco and Taos Ski Valley.
