The SpaceThis cute bungalow has two bedrooms and a back room with a full sized futon. The back room also serves as a TV room and houses the washer and dryer. One bedroom has a queen sized bed. The second bedroom has a trundle bed which can become two twin beds. The twin beds can be pushed together and be dressed with king sheets, but please note, it is still two twins masquerading as a king! Original cabinetry in fully equipped kitchen. Please note that this house does not focus on TV. There is no television in the living room; only in the back sun room. There is no fancy cable package. We do have wireless internet access. This is a non-smoking home. Guest AccessGuests will have access to carport parking. Interaction with GuestsWe live just a mile down the road. We like to personally meet every guest upon arrival and show them around the house. It's really helpful for us to know your approximate time of arrival a day or two in advance so we can arrange our day to be there to meet you. Check in available from 3pm to 9pm. Checkout by noon. We're happy to try and accommodate special check-in needs when our schedule allows. The NeighborhoodThe house is located in a lovely, quiet, tree lined neighborhood known as Mesilla Park. It's located between NMSU and Mesilla. You'll find lots of people walking their dogs in the neighborhood. There's a lovely park with playground equipment and plenty of room to kick a soccer ball just two blocks away. Down the street is one of our favorite authentic Mexican restaurants, La Cocina. It is open for breakfast and lunch. Cheap, authentic and good food! Around the corner is Pastallini (formerly Lorenzo's), which is hands down the best Italian food in town. Take out only, lunch and dinner. Historic Mesilla Plaza is a short drive or nice walk. It's a charming historic area with a plaza, an adobe church, shops and great restaurants. Feel like a local as you wander through the award winning Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market. This is a great way to spend a Wednesday or Saturday morning. We'll share more of our favorites when you get here. Getting AroundA city bus stop is one block away and can take you downtown. Las Cruces isn't famous for it's public transportation, but this bus gets you to the downtown mall hourly. Other Things to NoteThis house is situated 1/4 mile from railroad tracks. Offsite RV or trailer parking available by special arrangement. This is a smoke free, pet free home.

Addditionaly, it spsorts two separate wash basin areas so that you or your mate/friend do not have to wait for the other to complete the toilette. There are few accommodations on the planet which have the array of spices available in this kitchen. That's OK with me. Do you want directions or a tour guide to the area? I'm game. Do you want conversation or want to exchange life stories? I've had 80 years of practice. The NeighborhoodThis is a country club neighborhood. It is upscale, quiet, and occupied by people who mind their own business. It is close to the Picacho Mountain Recreation Area which is on the edge of the desert wilderness. You can walk your dog, hike, look for arrowheads and other Indian artifacts, fossils, mineral specimens, and the many wonders that this portion of the wild west has to offer. White Sands and the Organ Mountains are close by. Lincoln, NM, home of Billy the Kid and the Lincoln County Cattle Wars is within easy driving distance. For those want to challenge the Organ Mountains for climbing opportunities, there are many access points. I learned to climb mountains at NMSU in 1960. You enter this home and are greeted by huge fossils from Morocco and a sculpture of a petite Japanese lady giving you an 'Ohaio'(Good day) greeting. You turn to the right into the Great Room and adjacent Dining Room, with their own unique sculptures and paintings. Huge Night Blooming Cereus cactus and tropical ginger shade the floor to ceiling from the desert sun. Continue your journey into the kitchen, equipped for someone who LIKES to cook (OR NOT). The surrounding windows look out onto your gigantic patio with its views of the grounds and neighborhood. You complete your primary circular journey by entering the gigantic living room with its soaring ceilings and stone fireplace. You can imagine yourself holding forth on the issues of the day with a glass of wine while supper is being prepared. A roaring fire is adding warmth to the convivial glow. And the journey is only half over. Pass through the living room to right. You will see the great library, stocked with books, records and CD's spanning a collection life of nearly 50 years. The bedrooms and computer room are just down the hall... The laundry room is just to the left. The computer room is straight ahead. It is equipped with a Dell desktop computer with 2GB of RAM and scads of memory. It also has a wireless router, a scanner, and a color laser printer if you simply cannot leave business behind. Movies? You ask? Netflix is available (at no charge) for instant online viewing. And to continue the motif you noted upon entry to the house, the computer room desk is a 6 foot long black marble table filled with fossils The table originated in Morocco. The guest bedroom is just to the right with its own bath. And the Master Bedroom? Goodness! It is fully 28' X 21' with its own entrance to the patio. The bath? Ah. The Master Bath! A fully glassed and tiled shower, 3' X 9', handicapped accessible, with the adjoining lav area including his and hers basin areas. This is truly a vacation home you will talk about for years to come. *The 3rd bedroom is used as an office. Please specify if you need sleeping accommodations for the 3rd bedroom.
