The furnished studio apartment consists of a main room with reading chair and desk, a fully stocked kitchen with dining area and a full bathroom. We have a twin size real mattress stored under the main full size bed that can be pulled out and used for children. Our location is just a few houses away from Washington Park. We are walking distance to SUNY Albany Downtown Campus, Rockefeller Institute of Government & College of Saint Rose (5 minutes); Albany Medical College, Albany College of Pharmacy & Albany Law School (15 minutes); Center Square, Empire Plaza and all the state government offices (20 minutes). We are close to shops, restaurants, and all major bus lines. The kitchen has basic utensils, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, toaster oven, stove/oven, fridge. Free wireless internet. No pets and no smoking in the studio or on the porch. Parking is on the street. Sometimes if you arrive late at night you might have to park a block away. The SpaceThe arched doorways and stucco walls give the large living room a Mediterranean feel. And the high ceilings of our 1929 home add to that sense of being in a special place. If the television is on it's usually a soccer match or the news. Our large backyard and enclosed back porch also add a sense of great privacy right here in the city. Your bedroom is perfect for a short stay or a long one if you'll be in Albany for a while. The bed is big enough for two people to cozy up together - it's a full size bed (a little smaller than a queen). We also have three very friendly cats who will be happy to cuddle with you if you let them. Also, it's worth noting that we share the main bathroom on the upper floor of the house since this is where the shower is, adjacent to the bedrooms. There are two other lavatories in the house, however. The one in the basement offers a great deal of privacy if that is your preference. Finally, Mary Beth is a Licensed Massage Therapist and is happy to provide her healing to touch to our guests at the very affordable rate of $50/hr. The massage is given in front of our gas fireplace, and if you're lucky (and accepting) one of our cats is likely to lie on top of you while MB works her magic. Guest AccessYou will have access to our entire home except for our bedroom and office. And you are also welcome to enjoy our spacious backyard. Interaction with GuestsWhen we are all in the house together we will certainly do our best to spend time with one another if that's something you would like. The NeighborhoodWe are very close to a commercial strip of businesses which is directly across from St. Peter's Hospital. And we are within walking distance of many bars, restaurants, and parks as well. Albany Medical Center is only one mile away and with St. Peter's Hospital one block away; we are at the heart of Albany's medical community. Getting AroundThe bus stop is one block away from our house, but Albany is a small, compact city so you might enjoy walking around as well. Mary Beth and I will be happy to help you with your transportation needs when we are able. We want to help you enjoy your visit. Other Things to NoteWe have three very friendly kitties who will enjoy sitting on your lap if you let them. In the colder months we keep the thermostat kind of low, so please bring some sweaters and jammies. We do have a gas fireplace that's great to huddle around...and we have plenty of comforters to keep you warm at night. Also, we had the wood floors re-finished at the end of 2016 so we do what we can to protect them...and that includes making sure there is no standing water on the floors. So please, when leaving the bathroom after showering please make sure your feet are dry or wear a pair of flip-flops or slippers. This will help us keep the floors looking beautiful. Lastly, you will notice from our rates that we offer DEEP DISCOUNTS for weekly and monthly guests. We're happy to accommodate guests of any length stay, but we really like to host people for a full month if your travels bring you to Albany for an extended period of time. It has been our experience that our longer-term guests tend to be more satisfied with their stays with us than some of our shorter-term guests (or folks who've never used AirBnB before) who sometimes having higher expectations. We value each of our guests, but the great thing about longer term guests is that we get to know them better and they become more a part of our household during their stay. We really enjoy that aspect of AirBnB.

The SpaceNeed a place to stay? Look no further. This charming bungalow in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood of Albany will provide you much more space and comfort, at half the price, than a hotel room. The house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a large living room and kitchen with modern appliances. The sleeping situation accommodates three adults: two in the King bed (master) and one on the single futon in the spare room. The space is most appropriate for adults: I can not accommodate children under 13 years. Clean linens and towels will be provided. There is washer and dryer in the basement for laundry and a private driveway for off-street parking. The house has a backyard with an outdoor grill for barbecue, and in the summer, lawn chairs and tables are available. This is a no smoking, no pet property. Interaction with GuestsWhenever possible, I will meet you on arrival and always be available by phone or text should you need me during your stay. Otherwise, the house is yours to enjoy, come and go as you please. My only request is that the only guests in the house are those agreed on at time of rental. Getting AroundOff-street parking is available. If you don't have your own vehicle, the house is within easy walking distance of two major bus routes, providing access across city and further afield if desired. Close to one of Capital District's premier public golf courses. Other Things to NoteThis is my home and I do live here. I am often out-of-town for periods of time, so whenever possible, I like to share my space with guests who are looking for clean, comfortable, cozy and reasonably priced accommodation. I don't do long-term rentals, one week is the maximum. Also, being that this is my home, you will be surrounded by my personal belongings (don't worry, I'm extremely tidy!). The space is most appropriate for adults, I can not accomodate children under 13 years. Please be respectful of my space and belongings, that's all I ask!

IMPORTANT: PARKING -- Parking is street parking. We live downtown in a city. I cannot guarantee parking. I cannot tell you where you will find a spot. While parking is generally fine (you will find a spot within one block), Sunday and Monday nights can be tough if you get here after 8 or so due to parking restrictions. It is not impossible to find a spot, but it is more difficult. The streets are very well marked with signs. Please do not ask me where to park. If you ask me where to park, I will tell you to read the signs. I really have no better insight into parking than to direct you to the signs. If you are parking Monday through Friday during the day (between 8AM - 6PM) it is "Resident Parking" zone however we do have a guest pass to override this - just send me your license plate number and state and I will enter your information into the City of Albany and you can remain parked all day and night. If you are traveling with a canine companion, there will be a charge of $25 for the first night and $10 for any additional night. A dog bed and bowls will be provided upon request. Right in the heart of Pine Hills and Saint Rose Campus. The houses are big and spaced the furthest apart in Albany for being so far downtown and right in the middle of the city. Great restaurants, architecture, walking, people watching and arts. Please see my airbnb guidebook for locals shops and eats! Close to shops, bars, grocery and movie theatre! The diverse Pine Hills Neighborhood in Albany NY is full of both residents and businesses, located near the College of Saint Rose and UAlbany. The proximity to these universities makes Pine Hill a popular residence for students, keeping a well-maintained balance between the permanent tried-and-true residents of the area and the new, fresh young collegian faces and tastes. The area of Pine Hills was originally part of the Albany Pine Bush ecological zone full of sand dunes and 150-foot (46 m) tall pine trees that were used for ship's masts. Perhaps the earliest improvement on the land which would later become Pine Hills occurred in 1799 when the Great Western Turnpike was established through the area and connected Albany to the western portions of the state. This route was used by settlers moving west and cattlemen bringing their livestock back east to sell. In 1849 the turnpike was improved as a plank road. Two hotels were built during the 19th century, at West Lawrence Street and Madison Avenue and at Western Avenue and Allen Street. The first railroad in the state, and the first successful passenger steam locomotive in the United States was the Mohawk and Hudson Railroad, which ran from the intersection of the Western Turnpike and Madison Avenue ("the Point") in the Pine Hills west to Schenectady. This railroad was built in order to complement the Erie Canal, the canal ran for 26 miles (42 km) between Albany and Schenectady, meanwhile the railroad was able to operate in a straight line and cut the distance to 10 miles (16 km). Getting AroundGood area for cycling. VERY easy as the bus runs from that corner all over the city until nearly midnight daily. Don't be afraid to ask if you need a ride somewhere, if timing is right I can sometimes give a lift. : ) Off of North Main on Saint Rose Campus. CDTA buses serve the Airport with seven departures between 7:28am & 5:17pm, stopping at Lark Street, South Pearl Street & on to Madison/Green - taking about 22 mins. For more information call CDTA at (phone number hidden) or visit: (website hidden).
