The NeighborhoodEnjoy one of the Hudson Valley’s most beautiful and challenging 18 hole golf courses for the first time! Kaaterskill Falls is a two-stage waterfall of Kaaterskill Creek, located in the eastern Catskill Mountains of New York, on the north side of Kaaterskill Clove. The two cascades total 260 feet (79 m) in height, making it one of the highest waterfalls in New York, and one of the Eastern United States' tallest waterfalls and one of America's oldest tourist attractions, being depicted or described by many books, essays, poems and paintings of the early 19th century. North-South Lake is the biggest and most popular state campground in the Catskill Forest Preserve, offering extraordinary scenic beauty, and historical sites. An abrupt change in elevation occurs from about 540 feet above sea level at the base of the escarpment to approximately 2,250 feet at the site of the Catskill Mountain House. The provinces around the lake have long provided visitors with exceptional views of the surrounding countryside. It is said that on a clear day, you can see five states from the escarpment. Boating of non-motorized boats are permitted. Rowboats and canoes. A paved boat ramp is located at the North Lake day use area. Rowboat, kayak, canoe and paddle boat rentals are available. Fishing is allowed on the Lakes and you will find chain pickerel, brown bullhead, pumpkin seed, black crappie, and large mouth bass. Getting AroundTrails Two miles of trails follow an old farm road past a 28-foot observation tower, then narrow as they meander through forests and skirt RamsHorn Marsh. Kayak and canoe access within the sanctuary requires a half-mile carry; for portage-free access to RamsHorn Creek, launch from Catskill Point Park at the foot of Main Street in downtown Catskill and paddle up Catskill Creek (at high tide) or down the Hudson River. When to visit Year-round daily dawn to dusk. Allow a minimum of 2 hours. RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary Crossing the Rip Van Winkle Bridge from east to west, turn left at first traffic light onto Route 385. Continue 2.5 miles through the Village of Catskill. Left on West Main Street after crossing the Catskill Creek. Continue 0.8 miles to small rotary; exit rotary on Dubois Road. Proceed 0.1 miles to RamsHorn parking area on right. 84 Dubois Rd. The tub has a multi setting shower head with hose. There are locks on all doors if you require extra security. The house has central heat and high speed wifi throughout, including Netflix. Another nice feature is that you will have use of the garage for your personal vehicle, so safety and security is a big advantage here. Guests love taking advantage of the spacious yard perfect for outdoor games and nature hikes. There is also a PS3 game system in this room so bring your games if you wish. That system also doubles as a blue ray player and downloads apps such as YouTube and Crackle. This bedroom's window overlooks the back yard. Both rooms are full-time guest rooms and are tastefully appointed. I provide clean towels and other toiletries. There is a cooler for you to use if you want to bring ice, and I will have continental breakfast options available at no extra charge! Your other room has a twin bed, and twin air mattress with a built in pump. The 2nd room features a flat screen HDTV with DVD player and Netflix. This room has artistic acrylic paintings as well. It's window overlooks the front lawn and stone garden. This place is ideal for a family of 4 or for friends wanting to explore the Hudson Valley but require separate sleeping arrangements. I will not book the 2nd room to anouther party, so your privacy and exclusive service will not be compromised. Both guest rooms are on the same side of the house adjacent to the bathroom. This residence is private and secluded so the appearance of Bambi outside of your bedroom windows in the morning is definitely a possibility! The kitchen is fully functioning and available for you to use. It features two microwaves, two toaster ovens, a blender, and Keurig coffee maker. I will make room in the fridge for you to keep food if you wish, and will always have bottled water on hand. Guest AccessYou will have access to everything including the private property and garage. Feel free to sample the DVD collection and enjoy a movie in the living room on the big screen with surround sound stereo. Take advantage of the game system or watch some Netflix if you wish. Feel free to have a snack from the complimentary snack bar. I also have a complimentary coffee station with an assortment of k- cups to try. There is even a fresh vegetable farm stand at the property with the best maple syrup and organic produce around. I'm sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy. There is also an energy efficient washer and dryer for long term guests to use, as well as iron w/board, and a hair dryer for business travelers. Interaction with GuestsI can be as visible or invisible as a host, it's all up to your preference. My lap dog Romeo and I take up one room of the 3 bedroom house. The rest of the home as well as the property is yours to enjoy. My goal is for you to feel welcome and the layout of the home is conducive to give you plenty of privacy. My room is on the other side of the house from the guest rooms I am offering you. I also have my own bathroom in my bedroom so your bathroom is private as well. For animal lovers my little dog is named Romeo due to his affectionate nature. He is adorable and really takes to everyone that gives him attention. The best thing about him is that he isn't a barker. Most little dogs like him are, but he is pleasantly quiet! Please take a moment to read some reviews so you can get a better feel for how this experience can be rewarding, especially if you are new to the Airbnb concept. In a lot of ways this listing is renting an entire home at a discount. The NeighborhoodThis setting is unique because the neighborhood feels rural and secluded with all the natural wildlife to admire, yet is a short 3-5 min drive into the village of Catskill. I am also 15-20 mins from the towns, Hudson, Cairo, East Durham, Athens, Coxsackie, Palenville, Hunter and Tannersville. Even towns like Wyndham, Kingston, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Bethel and Woodstock are a scenic 30 mins away. Our location is ideal for day tripping to these historically significant tourist towns. Check out my detailed guidebook for all my guests to give them some ideas for how to maximize their experiences up here. For younger guests my son helped put it together so it has recommendations from 2 perspectives. Mountain views are walking distance away, as well as waterfalls to explore and hiking trails close by. Other near-by attractions of note are: Hunter Mt, Kaaterskill Falls, Lazy Swan golf course, Overlook Mt hiking trail, Hunter Mt hiking trail, Olana, Bethel Woods, and Bailiwick Animal Park, paintball, and horseback riding center. Winter is a great time of year to visit. This house is 17- 46 miles away from ski areas such as; Hunter Mt, Ski Windham, Catamount, Ski Butternut, and Belleayre ski resorts :). They are fully open now and getting fresh snow weekly. Some have expanded to offer snow tubing, ice skating, and even snow mobile rental. Check out their websites attached to the guidebook for more information Getting AroundEverything is very easy to find and traffic is non existent! This is easy country living up here. If you don't own a car you can look into renting a car through various agencies. It will probably be cheaper to rent the car around here rather then in the city if you are coming from the Manhattan area. Other Things to NoteSince you also get the 2nd room, the space is suitable for up to 4 guests. Since the house is up and running year round i even have board games for you to pass the time if your plans happen to get rained out. One of the biggest advantages of the Airbnb experience is that each trip can be customized to travelers particular wants and needs. You can't always get that when you use hotels or motels for your accommodations. Anouther benefit of staying here is my late checkout policy. Since I always block an extra day between bookings you won't be rushed to checkout right away in the morning. Feel free to send me a text if you need further clarification on anything. I will also be available via my tablet after booking and throughout your stay here. Hope to see you soon:)
