The River is a block away and supports great kayaking and boating, with Friday movie screenings al fresco, and free Sunday concerts in the Summer- same with the Chapel of Her Lady of Restoration, just a block away by the RR station. A train ride south, and you’re in the lovely hamlet of Garrison with its art and drama groups regularly scheduling events.
A train ride north, and you’re in Beacon, chockfull of artists and artisans, including the DIA Beacon Museum, and an overall great little vibe.
Our village trolley will take you to Boscobel (2 mi.s away) which in addition to its famed Shakespeare and Theatre performances al fresco, hosts a Glorious Farmer’s Market May-October.
IF you have a car, you have the Appalachian Trail 7 miles & fantastic Fahnestock State Park about 11 miles away. (Bring Snow shoes/X-country skis! In the winter)
The Franciscan Graymoor Monastery, Buddhist, Chuang Yen Monastery, are both within an easy 12 minute drive. And Stonecrops Garden only 10.
& across the river, about 20 miles, the incredible Storm King Art Center, West Point, quaint Cornwall & Newburgh Waterfronts, and not at all far from the colorful Hudson Valley Wine Trails.
