The SpaceOur lovely farmhouse is a wonderful place to lie back and take it slow. It is a special property that is designated one of East Quogue's historic landmarks.
The property has been completely and lovingly renovated with modern amenities and systems, and is extremely comfortable and very well-appointed and maintained, inside and out. Guest AccessThe wraparound porch hosts several sitting areas as well as a shaded dining table and an outdoor fireplace. The back deck has another dining table and a gas grill immediately adjacent. The garden has lots of lilacs, lilies, ornamental grasses, and hydrangea, and the backyard is completely fenced and sports a 16' x 32' heated pool - there's a removable security fence to separate the pool from the backyard if desired.
Inside, there's a spacious kitchen which opens to a 17'x 17' dining/great room with wraparound windows. The living room has a gas fireplace and French doors to the porch. Upstairs, there's a large and lovely master bedroom suite plus two bedrooms and a full bathroom.
There's also a Guest Cottage for extra friends, relatives, or child care. It is steps away just at the end of the driveway, yet it is privately set with its own gated enclosure, deck, full kitchen and full bath. It makes it very easy to be together when you want to, and not when you don't.
There's lots of room to gather and entertain, as well as plenty of places to find solitude if that's what you crave. Interaction with GuestsDon't worry about anything – everything will be set up to your specifications and our property manager is available 24/7 if you have any questions at all or should something need attention. But if you don't need her, you won't see her.
If you would like the refrigerator and pantry stocked prior to your stay, please provide us with a detailed grocery list. You will be charged for the cost of the items purchased, plus a $100 shopping fee. The NeighborhoodEast Quogue is a village in the town of Southampton, and is a short drive to Westhampton, Quogue, Hampton Bays, and Southampton. The first Post Box in the United States was erected in 1787 in East Quogue, right around the corner from our house.
Right in town, there are several nice local restaurants - the New Moon Cafe is one of our favorites for good burgers and Tex-Mex fare. If you're interested in fine cuisine, the Stone Creek Inn is a four-star restaurant in town. Sonny's Prime Village Meats has exquisite gourmet prepared and packaged foods. There's also an open-air farmer's market, a pub, a sweet and ice cream shop, and several antique stores. Getting AroundThe Hamptons Jitney stop (from NYC or JFK) is right in the center of town, an easy 4 minute walk to the house. The Long Island Railroad stops in either Westhampton or Hampton Bays, a short cab ride away. If you're planning to hang out only in the village, a car is not necessary. But a car will definitely be needed to go to the beach and visit other parts of the Hamptons. Other Things to NoteRead, swim, eat, bask in the sun, watch the grass grow, take a nap. For a little adventure, take a short walk into town to the gourmet deli or the fine wine shop, or the cafe or the pub, or the local farm stand for fresh baked goods and fruits and vegetables right off the vine. Or visit the bait & tackle and stroll down to the bay to fish, or feed the ducks, or count the clouds. Or hop on a bike or in the car and take a short drive (8 minutes!!) to the gorgeous dunes at one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Or if it's culture you crave, don't miss the local galleries, vineyards, and world-class shopping.
At the end of the day, sit on the porch, watch the sunset, and tip a glass. Throw something delicious on the grill off the back deck. Roast marshmallows in the outdoor fireplace. Count the stars. Then slip into bed and sleep better than anyplace else...
