UPDATED! - Work Complete *** Installed wood floors throughout first floor, new stainless steel appliances, new wide screen TV and new granite counters installed. We look forward to having you.***The home is within reach of some of the most sought after activities in the Adirondacks. Whether to spend the day locally at Lake Luzerne or spend the day in Saratoga or Lake George you're still a short ride home for a quiet evening to R-E-L-A-X. Come to Lake Luzerne to enjoy a confluence of waters. Here, the Hudson River squeezes into a narrow gorge, tumbling over the dramatic Rockwell Falls. Water from the Great Sacandaga Reservoir joins the river in a flurry of white water. Further downstream, the river widens into “The Bay,” a stretch of water broad enough for water skiing. For those who seek quiet water, a chain of four beautiful lakes offer fishing, camping and boating with two public swimming beaches on Lake Luzerne itself. Lake Luzerne has catered to visitors since President Grant came here for rest and recreation after the Civil War. The grand old hotels of that day have given way to modern inns and restaurants while new tennis and basketball courts, miniature golf and three local history museums, along with summer concerts and craft shows, offer a variety of family fun. Two riverside parks flank the downtown area. Nearby, Lake Luzerne Music camp attracts world-class musicians. In winter, snowmobilers can ride over 200 miles of forest trails. Signs for the “Dude Ranch Trail” hearken back to the days after World War II, when the old logging camps found new life as Dude Ranches. The Rodeo is still going strong after more than 50 years and several stables along Route 9N still offer horseback riding. For more information about the Town of Lake Luzerne, visit the Lake Luzerne Chamber of Commerce or call the Chamber at (phone number hidden)This cozy home has a nice quiet yard shaded by big beautiful oak and pine trees. It is in close proximity to many of the activities with the Adirondack Region. Seasonally, it makes for a great base from which you can set off on your particular adventure. However, it provides the amenities of comfort to stay home and not feel obligated to drive to some restaurant and waste time and money in long lines at expensive restaurants. The lake is across the street and there is a beach a short walk or drive depending on the view for the day you want.Guests will have access to the main areas of the home including a half finished cellar with a tv, radio and pool table to allow for a convenient place to hang out. There is a front porch and a side porch as well. Plenty of room for the whole family yet room enough to find a spot to sit quietly and read or whatever works for you. There are a couple closets the owner keeps for personal belongings so as to have as much of our stuff out of the way but plenty of room for you to drop your things, store your bags and make yourself at home. Many of the comforts of home are there, so it isn't exactly roughing it. We hope you make many lasting memories with your family and friends too.Simply put - Lake Luzerne is very close to so many great excursions. The SpaceThis humble, simple, 1940's abode is located in a gem of a little town that embodies the charm of the Adirondack Mountains! The perfect vacation destination for self sufficient, seriously laid back adventurers, who appreciate a chill zone atmosphere, and those wanting to experience the nature, sights, and peacefulness that a little Adirondack town offers. As a guest, you have exclusive access and use of the upstairs queen sized bedroom and full bathroom which is just down the hall from your bedroom. I sleep in the downstairs twin sized bedroom and use the full bathroom downstairs. I do not enter your space upstairs during your stay (unless there is need for maintenance). Consider this a visit to that quirky 3rd cousins home--you know the one--always over scheduling herself, but oh so happy to see you and wants you to enjoy the beauty of nature in her neck of the woods! This home is in a regular neighborhood with homes very close on either side. You will hear some street noise as this street runs parallel to the major road through town, so there are comfortable earplugs provided to you just in case you are overly sensitive! I share a driveway with my awesome neighbors, please be respectful and park close to my house and it's all good :) WHAT DO WE OFFER? • A listing that is appropriate for up to two adult guests. • Exclusive use of upstairs bedroom with bathroom on same floor. • Comfortable queen size bed with a Tuft and Needle Mattress and cozy linens. • A host who will not invade your space but is available for questions and ideas on what to do, where to eat, the best places to have the best adventures! • An extremely safe neighborhood with off street parking. • A landline (connected via internet in case of emergencies, US calls only.) Downstairs we have a shared space which includes: • Living Room with comfortable seating and lighting • TV with Roku 3 for Net flix and Ama zon (although, you should not be spending your vacation watching TV....get out there and explore!) • Fast WI-Fi (oh, I do not like sluggish wifi!) • Shared kitchen for light cooking only (such as making coffee or tea, toasting, reheating foods, making sandwiches, please keep stove top use to meals that require only one pan). ~~A peaceful joyful atmosphere throughout the home, smudging and reiki take place frequently to every corner of every room.~~ • Front porch with two antique rocking chairs. • Back deck off the kitchen with Adirondack chairs and an oversized umbrella to offer you shade. • Small fire pit in backyard. • 15 minute beautiful straight-shot scenic drive to Lake George • 15 minutes to the Lake George Outlets (why anyone would come to this beautiful area and go shopping is beyond me though!) • Only a 30 minute drive to Saratoga Springs, SPAC, and the racetrack! ON OUTSIDE WALKS AND ADVENTURES YOU WILL FIND: • One streetlight---the only one in town! • A delightful view of where the fun Sacandaga River merges into the Mighty Hudson River • Lake Luzerne and it's beach, sunny spots but also plenty of trees that offer shade! Guest AccessGuests have exclusive access to the upstairs part of the home which includes the bedroom and bathroom which is down a short hall from the bedroom. Fast wifi provided for all of your devices, a landline for continental US calls only as your cell reception may be sketchy. . Interaction with Guests•I honor your privacy, will not go upstairs during your stay. •My two jobs keep me very and I enjoy quiet and solitude. •This airbnb rental is best suited for self sufficient guests, but I am happy to provide recommendations and share insider tips of unique adventures, local spots in nature. •Please realize that Airbnb is much different than a hotel, there is no front desk person to check you in. •I prefer to greet guests upon arrival, sharing the information necessary so that their stay is a great experience. My work and social schedule vary, so it's not always possible, it is greatly appreciated when guests stay in contact with me about their arrival time. Self check-in is possible. •Please be respectful and provide an approximate check in time the day before your arrival, realizing that I may be taking time off work, or cancelling other plans to greet you, so if your plans change, notify me. •Check in is no later than 8pm. I can be flexible with arrival times depending on your needs, my schedule, and whether or not there are guests staying before you arrive. •Self-check in is also possible, but before 8pm. •As your host, I will sometimes be using vacation hours from work, cancelling other plans to be with friends, or heading out to nature, or missing out on much needed sleep to greet you, so please be respectful--communicate your arrival time, arrive on time, or notify me immediately if there is going to be a change. If you are looking for a true 'Adirondack Camp' experience, look no further! First, about the Cabin. Sitting on the shore of Forest Lake (a private association lake with no motor boats allowed), the cabin was built in the 1940's as a rental for one of the many Dude Ranches that were active around the Lake George/Lake Luzerne area. A Charming cabin that has been completely restored to provide all the modern amenities that one would expect today. There are three bedrooms upstairs with a full bath, downstairs you will find a spacious living room with original stone fireplace (gas logs installed) a dining room that seats 6, a large kitchen boasting a gas range/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and a full selection of cookware, dinnerware and utensils. There is a full bath (with shower) downstairs that also hosts a full size washer/dryer for your convenience. Also, lakeside, is a quite place you can curl up with a good book. Walk out the backdoor onto a large covered porch overlooking the lake. Sit quietly and you will probably see the bald eagles that live on the lake, lots of ducks and geese, and occasionally the family of otters that make their home across the lake. Attached to the covered porch is an open deck to grab a few rays or fire up the grill. Step off the porch and it is steps to the lake. There is a dock for sunning and a nice sloped area for swimming. We have a canoe and a row boat at the property for your use! You can spend your entire visit relaxing at the cabin but if you want to explore the area, there is plenty to do. There are several river rafting outfitters just down the road as well as The Painted Pony Rodeo. Horseback outfitters, snowmobile outfitters and hiking trails are all nearby. The Longhorn Pub is just down the road for a hamburger or a drink, a locals place that is good and fun or try the Upriver Cafe in Lake Luzerne with a fantastic view of the Hudson. If you wish to explore a bit further and need some additional shopping or dining, just a few miles brings you to the Lake George area where putt-putt, amusement parks, restaurants, outlet malls and shops will keep you busy. For real nostalgia, take in a double feature at the Drive in Movie! Lake George offers more boating and fishing opportunities. During the winter try the Tubby Tubes (summers are fun too!) near the cabin or drive to Gore Mountain for a day of skiing. We are minutes to the Northway (I87) and it will quickly take you south to Saratoga Springs and Albany, north to the upper Adirondack region with Lake Placid and the Lakes (even Montreal is just a couple of hours away), and East to Vermont. Rates: Please see current rates under the rates tab. Summer is a 7 day rental with turnover on Sunday. We have a 3 night minimum the rest of the year. Also, we limit our cabin to 6 guests. We have a 6 Bedroom Main Lodge with 2 fireplaces, AC and Heat and we have 4 1 bedroom log cabins--Come Join Us! Our home is the Painted Pony Ranch, a famous dude ranch on the Dude Ranch Trail in upstate New York. Our house is nestled on 27 acres of lakes, streams, mountains and forests just minutes from Lake George, a major tourist attraction with loads of water activities, history, arcades, and fun parks to enjoy. Our swimming hole with a sand beach is right around the corner from the ranch. You can hike over to the State Park that is adjacent to our property and walk to the Rodeo in two minutes! (Rodeo only runs from July 4th to Labor Day). Our year-round main lodge is heated and air-conditioned and is a 75 x 45 foot real log cabin with six bedrooms, and 2 and 1/2 baths, two fireplaces, a large friendly kitchen, and lots of chairs and couches to relax on. I also have small log cabins that were used to house cowboys, ranch hands, and dude ranch guests, but have been renovated for May through October only for our many extended family members who, over the years, have visited us from far places and during the pleasant seasons. There is a Ruggiero's Public Horseback Riding stable right on the property--their trail rides are famous around here--they ride from April to the end of October. We'd be happy to show you our lifestyle. We watch the stars on clear nights--with no particles in the air, it's a miracle of pinpointed lights. Our frogs and cheepers only sing in the summers, but we ski and make snowmen in the winters, then sit by the fireplace and drink whatever comes handy as long as it's hot and strong. We have a big family and so we like company. Also, we have an authentic storyteller who will bore you with every bit of local history about such items as the French and Indian War (if you saw The Last of the Mohicans, that story really happened right here in our backyard). You can hear Tales of the Great Logging Boom, the Beaver and Fur Trade, Bootlegging from Canada to New York City (and about Johnny Thorpe the famous trapper who found a cache of cherry liquor nearby), and even essential details of our Dude Ranch History. You can sit on our veranda and listen until you fall asleep or just get up and save yourself. Call me if you can be our guests! This is a family compound and our children have gone off to college so we have lots of room! Pets Allowed: Inquire Amenities We have it all-please inquire Check Availability
