The SpaceThe view from Room One looks out over the Hudson river at the Catskill mountains. In the evening, it's the perfect place to experience the types of sunsets that inspired the Hudson Valley School of painters. Besides a king sized bed, this room has its own private bathroom. Suminski Innski is a three-storied, historic house with a wrap- around porch overlooking the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains. Parquet floors, crystal chandeliers, marble fireplaces, ornate moldings. Tons of art from local painters and photographers. Walking distance (10 minutes) to the village's 9 different eateries, bars, and bakery. There are plenty of beautiful hikes to be had around the area. On-site catering is available for parties of up to 50 people. The entire house can be rented for $1200 a night. Van shuttle service and tours available. Tivoli is halfway between the Rhinecliff and Hudson Amtrak stations, a twenty minute drive in either direction. The house has been 99% restored over the last decade (starting in 2003) after being largely abandoned from the fifties through the nineties. It was originally built by an ocean ship captain who settled on the shore here and operated a ferry service for all the East West commerce in the area which ran until the fifties but when the bridges were built over the Hudson, the traffic moved there and Tivoli became a ghost town until it's recent revival. A 25% discount is extended to all teachers, social workers, veterans, aide workers, care givers, farmers, journalists, and bikini models.

We've seen deer, groundhogs, skunks, chipmunks, fish, frogs, beavers and birds of all colors in the past six months. From the birdsong in the morning to the peaceful sunset beyond the Catskills, this is a place to relax. The farmhouse is more than 150 years old. It has had a varied history as a farmhouse for a vineyard (Can you spot the overgrown vines in the back of the property?) and more recently as a private dining space. The house is warm and cozy in winter, but lends itself just as easily to outdoor living in summer. There is a dining table on the deck under the wisteria, a great barbecue, and loungers by the heated pool. There is also seating by the large pond. The great lawn extends for almost 2 acres behind the house, including the pond. Beyond that the land is a little wilder - wet and marshy near the seasonal (small) stream that borders the property on one side, while at the back of the property there's another several acres where the vines and fruit trees used to be. There are grassy paths cut out for you to explore on foot or on mountain bike. The house is in the heart of the Hudson Valley close to the villages of Tivoli, and Germantown, with the bigger towns such as Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and the ever-popular Hudson all within 20 minutes drive. There are stunning parks nearby like Taghkonic State Park, Tivoli Bays that are open to both summer and winter sports. The immediate area is bucolic. It has all the goodness that a community brings but houses are spread out from one another, and the overriding sense is of nature - with orchards and corn fields dominating the landscape. Whether you're looking for a place to escape the city and put your feet up, enjoy the incredible outdoors, or use as a launchpad to explore the Hudson Valley, our farmhouse is the perfect place to stay. Guest AccessGuests and their pets have complete freedom of the property with the exception of the barn. We share our property with friends and family including many young children. We can only continue to host dogs if you do your part and always clean up after them - no matter where they go on the property. Yes, even in the long grass.
