The SpaceJust a 5 minute Uber or a 2 mile saunter from Downtown, our luxurious stone & stucco home on a Private Road with an extra-wide driveway to accommodate up to 10 cars, was totally renovated throughout 2013/14. Our spacious stone & stucco house is on a quiet Private Road and boasts extravagant 7.5PH well-water from your indoor shower to our out-door ‘mineral-spa’ overlooking nothing but woods of trees and a mountainous skyline. The spacious shared ozonated hot-tub seats 6 and is open to Cardinals Inn guests throughout the year while his and her bath-robes are provided upon request. A luxurious queen size sleigh bed will ensure restful sleep while your en suite Private Sunset Room is fitted with a flat-screen cable TV to catch-up on the ‘other’ world, with access to U-verse on HDMI 1 and Netflix & Amazon on HDMI 2 via Roku2. Located on the south/southwest corner of the house with exceptional views of local wildlife not limited to mountain lions & black bears, sun streams in your bedroom windows throughout the day. WiFi is available throughout our hardwood floor home while the house door and your bedroom door are both fitted with a digital lock. On cold winter nights, why not snuggle in front of the wood-burning stove with a hot-chocolate after a soak in the ozonated hot-tub? And on balmy North Carolina summer nights, simply stretch out below one of our huge living-room ceiling fans when it’s not quite hot enough to turn on the AC, or on the patio with a good book, and ask yourself “how could I possibly be only 5 minutes from Downtown Asheville, the Biltmore Estate and Mission Hospital?” Since we are an Organic Household, we are happy to offer complimentary Organic Fair Trade Coffee in the form of a Latte, Espresso or Americano with optional decaf, cream and local honey upon request. Complimentary continental breakfast is served DAILY between 8-9am (1st APRIL - 31st OCTOBER) and WEEKENDS ONLY (SATURDAY & SUNDAY) between 9-10am (1st NOVEMBER - 31st MARCH) in the house to accommodate any diet. Our kitchen and washer/drier are all readily available to you. Even though we are only 2 miles from Pack Square, the heart of Asheville, we are essentially in a rural environment and ask that you are respectful of our wildlife and keep a safe distance in the interest of safety. Kindly note that; QUIET HOURS are between 11pm and 7am CHECK-IN is between 4pm and 9pm ONLY in respect of other guests. Guest AccessPlease be respectful of the privacy of our Airstream and Apartment guests who have their own patio areas since most guests come looking for R&R. You are most welcome to use the main house deck living room and deck with sun-chairs, cushioned chairs and tables with umbrellas and the BBQ or stroll through the seasonal raised beds. Interaction with GuestsThere are 4 rental units on this 2/3 acre property - we do our best to contribute to the Airbnb philosophy and community by providing complimentary breakfast at a large table to enable our guests to meet each other. If you need us, we're available 24 hours a day, you are welcome to call us any time if you have any problem at all and we will be more than happy to address it. We're two Sagittarians - what can i say? We just love people! The NeighborhoodChunns Cove is a world unto itself. We have one neighbor whom you can barely visible through the trees, otherwise all you can see is a spectacular 270 degree view of the valley and woods from the house. The cove is human-quiet but bird-noisy! We regularly see creatures that you wouldn't expect and could easily mistake this place in summer for a Costa Rican rain-forest! Ingles, our local grocery store, is 2 minutes down the road and Walgreens is 5 minutes away. Our favorite dinner restaurants are the Admiral in West Asheville and the Bull & Beggar in the River Arts District for which we recommend reservations but you might find a couple of seats around the bar to order a selection of fabulous plates. Lunch time we are partial to Chai Pani's Indian Street Food which i take with no spices and Doc Chey's is ideal on a tight budget but arrive early or be prepared to wait for a seat. Getting AroundThe airport shuttle will bring you to the door, there is a bus into town about half a mile away, you can rent bicycles or you can walk the 2.2 miles into Downtown. Every direction has beautiful views! Other Things to NoteComplimentary continental breakfast is served DAILY between 8-9am (1st APRIL - 31st OCTOBER) and WEEKENDS ONLY (SATURDAY & SUNDAY) between 9-10am (1st NOVEMBER - 31st MARCH) in the house to accommodate any diet. The SpaceJust a 5 minute Uber or a 2 mile saunter from Downtown Asheville, our luxurious stone & stucco home on a Private Road with an extra-wide driveway to accommodate up to 10 cars, was totally renovated throughout 2013/14. Our luxury Airstream sits on a newly constructed deck made entirely of re-purposed century-old hand-laid Reynolds Block Bricks, the production of which spanned from 1889 through 1939, manufactured in a small community nestled in the Upper Cumberland Mountains of East Tennessee: Robbins, Tennessee, by the Southern Clay Mfg. Company. Originally forming the east side of our house as well as the house-deck and a small surrounding wall, we spent a month chipping off the concrete in order to reuse them during reconstruction as you can see at the end of the picture gallery. Boasting clean, fresh 7.5PH well-water throughout your Airstream Safari, your ultimate luxury will be soaking in the outdoor ozonated mineral spa, overlooking nothing but woods of trees and a mountainous skyline. The spacious shared ozonated hot-tub seats 6 and is open to Cardinals Inn guests throughout the year while his and her bath-robes are provided upon request. Located on the north-side of the house, exceptional views of local wildlife can be seen through panoramic living-room and bedroom windows, not limited to frequent sightings of bobcats, black bears and cubs. The comfortable glamping queen size bed with a 3" memory foam also boasts luxurious linens and blankets and a stock of bath-sheets to snuggle in after a dip in the hot-tub or a hot shower. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, plates and cutlery and if there is anything we missed, just ask, I’m sure we have one since Marc is a chef! There are two monitors with DVD players and there is Wifi, so check out our vast DVD collection and bring your iPad. It's downhill all the way home from downtown :) You can bike to West Asheville (less than 2 miles) or UNCA (about 3 miles). We're also really close to Biltmore Village and the entrance to the Biltmore Estate (less than 2 miles). Pet friendly for dogs with well-behaved humans (**see notes below re: dogs). We do ask that you be prepared to to take your dog with you when you go out. We also ask for a 10.00 per day pet/cleaning fee. We love Asheville & love to help others love it too. We're happy to offer guidance and suggestions or to leave you to have your own experience. Check out our guidebook for this listing. Our place is simple and affordable but with the added bonus of a private bath and private entrance. You will be welcome and comfortable here. (**A note for visitors with dogs: I love dogs. Absolutely love 'em. I don't provide a crate, and your dog cannot be on the bed. Yes, I will know. If your dog has never stayed in a crate before this won't be a good place to get him or her used to it. Try it at home first. I prefer you not leave your dog here while you're gone. They tend to feel stressed in a strange place, hearing strange noises. When you arrive there will likely be a moment of excitement when your dog meets our dog, Minnie. Expect barking and sniffing. It's a good idea to let your dog have a walk across the street after traveling and the excitement of meeting another dog in a new place. Asheville is a very dog-friendly town. Lot's of places with outdoor seating and a few that allow dogs inside. Thanks!) Guest AccessYou'll have your own private entrance and there is plenty of parking right out front. I usually greet guests but if for some reason I can't be at home when you need to check in, I'll leave the keys for you. Please observe quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. Interaction with GuestsYou'll be pretty self-sufficient and welcome to make your self at home in your space. Text me if you need anything or just knock on the front door. Both the laundry room and my housemate's room are downstairs but these spaces are separate from the guest space. The NeighborhoodThe South French Broad neighborhood is on the south-west fringes of downtown so it's easy to get most anywhere in Asheville. I love the urban stream right across the street, the proximity to the river and how it's perfectly situated to be a leading area for urban sustainability and urban agriculture. Getting AroundWalking around is safe and easy. Minnie and I walk all the time, even after dark. I have to admit that public transportation is not amazing in Asheville. It exists and you can get around on it but it's nothing to brag about yet. However, we are becoming a very bicycle-friendly town. Green ways are being developed in the whole city and county for walking and biking. I think the best deal for parking downtown is in the parking decks. City decks are usually free for the first hour then $1/hour after that. Sometimes special event parking raises the price. Parking is free in RAD and West Asheville. Other Things to NotePlease observe quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. I have a lovely housemate named Wendy. Her room is also downstairs on the other side. You might hear her go up and down the stairs or meet her in passing.

SELF-RESPONSIBILITY is critical within a self-governed environment and is therefore incorporated into our guest's experience. Everyone is responsible for contributing to making this exchange equitable while sharing in responsibility of activities associated with your stay. This approach allows us to offer the rooms for a much lower cost than would be the case if third parties were hired to care of things for you. By staying with us you agree to take responsibility for yourself and the space in which you stay, leaving it as good as or better than the condition in which it was found. In this regard we provide guests with tools necessary to leave the room clean and prepared for the next guest. Sheets will be folded and on the bed upon your arrival. Guests rate the manner in which the prior guest left the room. MCP Associates moderate activities within this location, which seconds as the organization's center of operations. They are not employees, they are residents who agree to share their space and themselves in an effort to further the mission of the organization. IMPORTANT DETAILS: We are a TOBACCO FREE property. All cigarette smoking will require that you take a walk, if you’re unfortunate enough to be a user. We have a 2 night minimum stay for weekend nights so if you want to stay over Saturday night you will need to book for Friday or Sunday also. If Saturday is already booked the requirement does not apply. We prefer to host guests who stay with us for extended periods of time. We prefer guests who are interested in learning more about our organization. Guests should note that we ABSOLUTELY require Offline Verification since this is the method available through airbnb that firmly establishes a guest's identity. We consider this to be a safety-related decision that ensures transparency by validating the identity of those staying with us. Therefore reservations will not be accepted until the words "Offline Verification" appears below the guest's profile. Guest AccessGuests will have access to their room (which includes a private bathroom), as well as shared spaces which include the amazing front porch, large, well-equipped kitchen, and our circle room which is off the kitchen. Clean sheets will be folded and on the bed upon arrival. Guests may make a special request to have the bed completely made upon arrival. There is a code to the front door that allows guests to let themselves into the house upon arrival, at any time. MCP associates may be contacted should assistance be required. Interaction with GuestsWe consider all who visit to be “one of us” for the duration of their visit. Within this arrangement we intend to: *Enter into an equitable exchange *Share information about our organization, common spaces and resources; *Be respectful and responsible for our actions. In exchange we expect you to: *Reach out to us as is convenient for your personal schedule, letting us share information with you about our organization and property; *Be self-responsible and respectful of others, the property, and resource consumption; *Leave no trace upon departure; *Above and beyond all else, relax and make yourself at home!!! Along these lines, residents will be going about their daily lives, which means that we're likely to cross paths with guests at any time, while being available should any need arise. Residents tend to use the side door, while guests will tend to use the front door since this is the closest point of entry to the room. We all share the kitchen where residents and guests are likely to be found chatting over a cup of coffee, tea, or a bite to eat. We get to know repeat guests fairly well and enjoy those ongoing relationships. The NeighborhoodWe love everything about our neighborhood!!! The street is lined with mature trees and large, older homes full of character, reminiscent of days gone by. One of the best characteristics of the street is that it is full of large, mature trees that make the area truly feel like a neighborhood. And how could we not love the flavor brought to the area by the Yoga Center and other local businesses. And what would a neighborhood be without convenient shopping, of which there is plenty within very easy walking distance. If feels like we have it all, and we do. We are extremely fortunate to be here, now. Yes Trader Joe's is a block away, as is Greenlife, a Whole Foods grocery. And did we mention Harris Teeter? Getting AroundJust a block away, along Merrimon Avenue, there is a bus stop. It's also an easy walk or bike ride to downtown, a cab ride is ~$5. Uber also offers quick and easy service. Other Things to NoteVisitors find themselves in an arrangement that manages the operational activities of Model Community Properties (MCP), a non-profit that cultivates, fosters and facilitates equitable, Shareable, self-governed arrangements, studying their economic and social impact. Notice the word “Shareable”, as this is critical to understanding our organization and the arrangement into which you are invited. The Shareable arrangements that MCP cultivates, fosters and facilitates are those revolving around the shared use of residential property. While we do support shared business arrangements they are not our focus. Since our “business” is that of fostering community lifestyles, our main office seconds as a home for those who are involved in its operations. Activities are managed through self-governance via a structure referred to as “Circle Forward”. Decisions are made by those living and working in our Sharing lifestyle cooperative. We assume our guests to be those who are interested in supporting the MCP undertaking or are curious about the endeavors of the organization. We offer an authentic opportunity to experience community without the commitment that one frequently finds in “intentional” arrangements. Our community is worldwide, and we are aware and respectful of the fact that we live in a technological, fast-paced society where travel is frequent. Gypsy lifestyles are now the envy of many, and we are here in support of that perspective. However we also support those individuals who choose to root themselves deeply in their home life. Hence you’ll find a mix of folks in this particular location. All are mature, quiet, respectful adults, busy living their lives while furthering MCP values and intentions.

The Best Places to Catch a Scenic Sunset It's no question that some of the world's oldest mountains offer some of the best vantage points to watch the sun drop below the peaks in a splash of color. In an online poll, fans of Asheville, N.C. nominated their favorite places to watch the sun set over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here are their responses, in descending order of popularity: Max Patch in Fall 5. MAX PATCH This grassy bald is definitely a favorite, with true 360-degree views of the Smoky Mountains and an intersection with the Appalachian Trail. For a sunset to remember, get there early and bring a picnic and a blanket—and your camera to capture the colors of the sunset reflected on layers of majestic mountains. Here are directions to Max Patch. 4. BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY Craggy Gardens Picnic America's Favorite Drive—as well as several of the stops along the way—is also a popular choice for some pre-dusk views. Hop on near Asheville and drive south to catch several scenic vistas. Or choose an overlook to snuggle up next to someone special and watch the stars come out. Learn more about the Blue Ridge Parkway. Biltmore Sunset in Fall 3. BILTMORE The 8,000 acres of George Vanderbilt's historic estate offer numerous scenic options, from the meadow behind America's Largest Home, to the lagoon with views of the back of the house and a good chance of a deer sighting. Or choose a window-side table at the Dining Room at the Inn on Biltmore Estate and drink in the beauty of the landscape while you sip some estate-grown wine. Check out our Biltmore ticket travel packages. 2. ANYWHERE Sunset Over Asheville Skyline Many readers made a very good point—almost anywhere in the Asheville area is a good place to see the sunset! Because we are surrounded by some of the highest peaks east of the Mississippi River (including the highest), views are bountiful all over town. Whether you're dining in a restaurant, checking in to a B&B, browsing the eclectic shops or even just standing in a parking lot, don't forget to stop and take in the view. Go ahead, start planning your next visit. Sunset Terrace at OGPI 1. The OMNI GROVE PARK INN The most popular spot to watch the sunset, according to the fans, is undoubtedly the Omni Grove Park Inn. The aptly named Sunset Terrace is famous for its dazzling views of downtown and the mountains, as well as for its chop house cuisine. Already have dinner plans? Grab a cocktail and a table in the new seating area just below the main terrace, or order up some duck fat fries and a local craft brew and lounge on a fireside sofa at EDISON restaurant. The SpaceA great homestay in a cozy and well kept older home (110 years old!), the bedroom is furnished with a bed, desk, nightstand and antique couch. Small closet available for guest use. The kitchen, living room and bath are shared, with linens and towels provided and high speed wireless internet. Space is available in the refrigerator as well. You must be a pet lover, there are cats and a friendly dog in the home! Many of the dates posted are when I am out of town, so you will likely have the entire space to yourself, other than the cats who are often closed in their own room... You must love pets for this place to work for you, please email for details. The best thing about this home is the location. You can see the downtown Asheville skyline from the side deck (more in winter when leaves are down), but the back yard feels woodsy with tons of birds, cicadas at night and lightning bugs in the summer. In the winter, less green, but a nicer view of the lights downtown! You can drive in about one minute to the Earthfare grocery store, a drugstore, deli and other amenities, or to Haywood Road, the main drag through West Asheville. We are on the same street as Shambala center and the Asheville School of Holistic Herbalism. Guest AccessStreet-side parking is located in front of the home. A shared washer and dryer are available in the basement of the home. Interaction with GuestsThe owners live in the home. There is life and activity in the home. During sleeping times we ask that you keep conversation (especially in the kitchen) and kitchen noise volume to a minimum as the kitchen is adjacent to several bedrooms in the home. The owners also play Old Time Fiddle and banjo music so hopefully you like music! Feel free to join and listen, or ask if you need quiet time! We like to interact and meet you and help with advice on great places to eat, listen to music or great day activities. We love Asheville for the fantastic food, awesome breweries, its many amazing musicians, wonderful dance (including the contra dance, tango, salsa and swing dance scene) and other great things to do. A sweet and older dog named Penny lives in the home. There are also three cats so if you have severe allergies to pets this home may not be right for you. The cats do spend a good portion of time in their own room and occasionally come out into the shared living areas. They do meow sometimes, bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, just in case its a full moon! The NeighborhoodThis sweet, newly remodeled home is in a desirable location, a 2 minute drive to downtown Asheville or West Asheville, and a 10 to 15 minute walk to Haywood Road, closest walkable places (10 to 20 minute walking distance) include 'The Walk' Brewpub, Battlecat Coffee Shop, King Daddy's Chicken and Waffles, Kava Bar, Harvest Records, ART bus stop, the Admiral, New Belgium Brewery, The Wedge Brewery and River Arts District, The Grey Eagle music venue, White Duck Taco, SunnyPoint Cafe, Zia Taqueria, and just a bit further to West Asheville businesses including the U-Joint, Westville Pub, and the Isis Theatre, just to name a few. Also a quick 4 minute drive via Riverside Drive to the Botanical Gardens and UNCA campus. I recommend planning walks in the daytime, as some neighborhoods do not have sidewalks and are dark at night. You can walk through neighborhoods to Haywood and points in West Asheville, or past New Belgium Brewery to get to River Arts District. It takes me 12 minutes walking for either one! I don't recommend walking to downtown, unless you want a longer walk through neighborhoods/across river/ etc, of about 30 minutes. Uber is great in Asheville as well. Getting AroundA 10-12 minute neighborhood walk to Haywood puts you right at the ART bus stop on Haywood in West Asheville. Daytime is best for walking as some neighborhoods are more well lit than others. Uber is highly recommended, its affordable and much easier than the bus system, and you don't have to worry about parking downtown. Other Things to NoteThere is no television in the space, just high speed wireless for your laptop or Ipad. Asheville has been awarded as Beer City USA and its for a reason, there are so many fantastic and delicious brew pubs and beer tours we suggest checking them out. You can walk down the road behind the house and be at the New Belgium Tasting room in 5 minutes or less! A 10 to 15 minute drive to the East or South brings you to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, visit their website for info on hikes, waterfalls and scenic drives.

Having lived in Asheville for nearly 10 years, we can direct you to whichever restaurant or entertainment would suit your fancy. As a former professional tour guide, I love helping guests make the best out of their time in our town. The NeighborhoodWe landed an ideal location when we built our home. A great neighborhood to walk through with friendly faces abounding, we are just a seven minute walk to West Asheville's eclectic restaurants, bars, locally-owned shops, and cafes that go on for about 2 miles. The SpaceIf you're coming to experience Asheville, why not stay downtown and experience true downtown living? We have one of the very few houses located right downtown. Honest....You can park your car in our driveway and walk to great restaurants, clubs and galleries in five minutes. Our charming renovated 100 year old house is on a quiet side street but close to the heart of everything. It's a treat to be able to go walking downtown. Shop, eat and come back to the house....change clothes and head out again without having to drive back and forth to a hotel or try to find parking and pay for it. (URL HIDDEN) just a whole different experience staying downtown period. Your cheerful room is upstairs -has a very comfy queen bed with a cozy duvet and an attached private full bath. We just put a Plasma TV in your room....I doubt you'll have time to watch it but it's there just in case. Clean and simple. Coffee and tea will be ready for you in the morning with some fresh fruit or perhaps a bagel if you wish. Honestly, I would head to Tupelo Honey, Over Easy, or Sunny Point for breakfast. We are a 10 minute drive to the Biltmore Estate and close to the Blue Ridge Pkwy for great hiking trips. We have internet access and central heat and air conditioning. If you are flying in to the Asheville airport, there is a bus that will take you to the station downtown. The station is one street over from our house so it is super easy to enjoy Asheville without renting a car. Women....if you are traveling alone, this is a great option for you. You will have your privacy, but it's nice to know there are friendly people nearby to make you feel welcome and safe. $137.00 per night. $147.00 for two people. Weekends are $10 more per night. I pay all the sales and use taxes out of that price. I prefer a two night booking but I'm flexible. My husband and I are friendly, easy going people. Our little dog Frito lives here with us. Come visit!- We will make you feel welcome and you'll love Asheville, there's so much to see and do! Guest AccessFREE off street parking in our driveway for your stay downtown. Parking is limited, a hassle and can be expensive downtown so this definitely is a perk. Interaction with GuestsI'm friendly and happy to chat if you are....if I sense you aren't interested that is ok too. I don't expect you to become a dear friend if you're just looking for a room downtown. I respect who you are and your comfort level when it comes to being social. I'm an extrovert and my husband is more an introvert so I understand both types of people. If you're a horrible grump you may want to stay somewhere else. I'm much too friendly for that! The NeighborhoodWe live on a special street. It's a short cut through so there isn't much traffic and most of the time you don't even realize you're downtown because it's quiet. Sometimes we hear music from the club down the street and sirens occasionally from the Fire Dept but for the most part it's a great spot. We are surrounded by law offices, a hostel and other converted houses turned into commercial properties. Getting AroundThe bus station is two blocks away if you want to go to other parts of Asheville and don't have a car. Otherwise....you can cover downtown by foot from our house easily. The Biltmore, GrovePark Inn, and Blue Ridge Parkway are 10 minutes away. Other Things to NoteI'm sorry we cannot accommodate your pets.

The SpaceBedroom has a great closet, hardwood floors, a new double bed, new mattress and dresser, lovely Pottery Barn linens and Restoration Hardware Silver Sage paint. It's a serene, very clean room - with a closet and a bonus room office that holds all your belongings and luggage - and reduces visual clutter in your bedroom. The bathroom has a tub and shower and is in perfect shape. The house is only 8 years old, so everything is clean - NO MOLD or musty areas - unlike many of the older houses in this damp Asheville climate. Are you worried about privacy? Your room and private bath are at one end of the house, separated from my bedroom by the bathroom and the office - quite private for an in-house room. Are you worried about safety? Bedroom is on first floor with huge window for easy exit in case of fire. It's also close to the front door. Definitely a safe place to stay. A hearty and healthy breakfast for two is offered daily. This includes foods from this list: N'espresso coffee, fresh cage-and-cruelty-free eggs, high quality bacon, Applegate sausage, juice, cream, cream substitute, a variety of cheeses, guacamole, spinach, tomatoes, sprouts, onion bagels, blueberry pancakes, multi-grain french toast, toasted pecans, almonds and walnuts. Similar breakfasts in local restaurants would cost $12 per person before tip. So that first, important meal of the day is included in the price you pay for this Airbnb -- a very good value. No gluten free breakfasts. Do NOT book here if either one of you believes you must have gluten free food. If you do not eat bacon or sausage, you will still have a full hearty and delicious breakfast. I'm available to help make your visit a great one. I know the city, the neighborhoods and many of the venues you'll be visiting. I can also advise on hikes and their degrees of difficulty and closeness to Asheville. I also know fun, free, educational things to do on the parkway and downtown. Examples: great film on the building of the Blue Ridge Parkway shown continuously at the BRP Visitor's center on the parkway here in Asheville. Or the Folk Art Center -- juried arts and crafts for gifts, plus maps, etc. - close by on the parkway. There are many hikes along the Mountains to Sea trail. I have maps, books and have done all the trails so can advise on the ones that may interest you. There are plenty of other hikes not on the MST. If you're moving here, I'd be happy to give you a 45 minute drive around the town to give you an overview and some information about various neighborhoods. I live in a modest West Asheville neighborhood, 1 mile from the hip-and-happening center of West Asheville. It is quiet but neighbors are close by. City lot sizes are 50 foot frontage by 100 feet. There's a beautiful, special yard and a cool screened-in porch -- plus a sheltered ground level deck ideal for eating/drinking, bird watching and garden visits. Hiking is nearby. A good plan is to do one day downtown and one on the trails. There is really a hike for everyone along the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Mountains to Sea Trail, or at Graveyard Fields, or Black Balsam. (many more) I can help you plan a hike, print you a map and pack you some snacks. I'll lend you a pack, hiking poles -- even warmer clothing if it fits you. (Or hop down to Goodwill - right down the street and pay about $5 for warm jacket if you forgot yours.) Guest AccessEnjoy the living room, the office, the screened in porch and all decks and the yard. I provide a full breakfast and other than that, my guests are expected to dine out for lunch and dinner. You are, of course, welcome to bring in snacks, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, etc. I am just not up for a house filled with cooking odors and the ensuing clean-up. Interaction with GuestsI am available and happy to spend some time with guests - usually at breakfast time. If you desire privacy that is just fine also. You shouldn't feel any pressure to socialize. The NeighborhoodI live in a small, modern, attractive house in a quiet, very modest West Asheville neighborhood. I have good views off the back and have a beautiful European style garden (parterre). It is a an easy five mile, 15 minute drive to downtown Asheville along Patton Ave (Rte. 19/23). Straight shot into town. Also, we have UBER here and if you want to enjoy the city's breweries without worry or much expense, you can take UBER and leave your car at home. About $15 to downtown. If I am around, and it is daylight, I'll drive you downtown and you can UBER home. Another choice: I live two miles from West Asheville center - great restaurants and clubs there also. Nine Mile, Sunny Point, The Admiral, Isis, etc. West Asheville is the most interesting neighborhood in Asheville. If you come to town tired, go to West Asheville for dinner. Only 2 miles from here. Getting AroundIf your car is low to the ground plan on parking in the lot across the street from my house. My driveway is steep(ish) and low cars could scrape. Other Things to NoteI have one dog and one cat. Both well behaved and totally quiet.

He had lumber mills in Canada and Florida and it was this business that brought him to Asheville, where he established a lumber mill at the present site of Biltmore, the property afterwards bought by George W. The SpaceYou will be staying in the "Blue Room". This is downstairs next to the "Green Room". Those two rooms share the Mauve bathroom. This home is a quick 5 minute walk from the center of downtown. This historic neighborhood is peaceful, yet only a short walk to all the fun activities downtown. Fantastic restaurants nearby, the Pritchard Park drum circle, the US Cellular Center, and St. Lawrence Basilica are only three blocks away. We are a 5 minute drive from UNCA.. You won't need to move your car once you are settled in, unless you decide to go to the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village, 10 minutes away. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway, NC Arboretum, Folk Art Center and much more! Guest AccessThis calendar reflects the reservations for the "Blue Room". The Blue room is downstairs next to the "Green Room" and is available for instant book. It has one queen bed and shares the mauve bathroom with the Green room. The Green Room next door has a comfy queen bed and shares a bathroom with the Blue Room. You can book the Green room by visiting " Victorian Cottage Downtown Green Room". All rooms have room air conditioners, mini- fridge, high speed wi-fi, access to outdoor hot tub (bring bathing suits!), fire pit, gas and charcoal grills. We have a "roll-away" available for a $15 charge for one extra guest. You may use the kitchen to cook if you wish, but I will provide teas, coffee and fresh pastries from my sister's bakery!. There are some amazing places to eat within a 5-minute walk. Interaction with GuestsNow that we have received "SuperHost" status, we will do everything to keep that honor. I have a really easy-going manner and love to laugh and have fun! Lots of nice people moving through, but yet a very mellow place. You are free to come and go as you please and basically just feel at home. I will be happy to help you with whatever your needs are, and I have a supply of maps and brochures and suggestions to make the most of your visit. I do teach afternoon music lessons (flute/voice/ piano) Monday - Thursday. The NeighborhoodI love the beautiful old historic homes in this Montford neighborhood. My house dates from circa 1912, termed a "Victorian cottage", and built by Richard Sharp Smith. Many of the homes in the neighborhood date from the 1880's. This Victorian neighborhood was the first suburb of Asheville. It is very quiet and friendly. Lots of beautiful walking opportunities around the neighborhood. Getting AroundWe are happy to do shuttles to and from airport and around town if needed for a small fee. The city bus stops near the house, but the house is so conveniently located that you will hardly need the public transportation. Other Things to NotePlease park on the Elizabeth st side. Also, the day of your arrival, a general ETA is very much appreciated! I have two small short-haired kitties, Sebastian and Sasha, real sweet and mellow. They stay outside most of the time and are never allowed in guest rooms for those who might be slightly allergic. I have had several guests stay who are allergic to cats and have had no adverse reactions. LGBTQ and straight-friendly. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board available upon request, outdoor hot tub, outdoor screen room, patio with pergola, outdoor fire pit, gas and charcoal grills, flower, herb and vegetable gardens.

This comfortable space is tucked in the trees in our backyard, allowing you to feel completely secluded from us and our neighbors. At the same time, we're just steps away if you have any questions about the space or the Asheville area. We are about a mile from Haywood Road in West Asheville. Music venues, bakeries, coffee shops, bars, great restaurants, boutique shops, record store, vintage garb, grocery and so much more. Downtown is a direct shot down Patton Ave. 10 minutes with a little traffic. The nearest bus stop is less than a 5 minute walk away and although there are a lot of hills in Asheville, cyclists may find it's the best way to get around. Hope we see you soon!

The SpaceThis is a minimalist's dream loft, inspired by a trip to Scandinavia. Less than a mile to downtown Asheville and West Asheville. Features a skylight, large picture window, private wooded location with a deck, overlooking the public golf course. Near to everything! On the bus line, and in a quiet neighborhood that is home to hundreds of native birds and chipmunks. Nestled on a steep hill on one of the last known dirt dead end road in the city of Asheville. Off-street parking available. Downtown has everything - restaurants, shops, coined "Paris of the South", and "Beer City", it has something interesting for everyone! Amenities include: a kitchenette and full bathroom, with an upright shower. Kitchenette has a hot plate, small refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, and microwave. Living room has a Bose mp3 player and an electric fireplace (that will kick out extra heat if you want it to). There is also a thermostat to control the temp of the permanent installed heat - which you can control yourself as needed. Upstairs has a queen bed, small dresser and wardrobe hangers. Downstairs is a small high quality single futon/love seat. On the back deck is a table and 4 outdoor chairs. You have to climb a steep ladder to get to the lofted area. The home is a mother-in-law-unit and is detached from the main house - down a steep hill with a dirt path. You will have privacy and will not be interrupted during your stay. NO HANDICAP ACCESS: steep entry, and steep loft steps make this unsuitable for handicapped, the elderly, or the very young. STEEP STEEP STEEP! The bus stop is about 2 blocks away. Although the home is close to downtown, it would be unsafe to attempt to walk there (no sidewalks). I recommend the bus, or bringing your bicycle. It is very close to the River Arts District as well on the West Asheville side of town. There is a 200 acre public golf course behind the home, with zip lines and other activities and such, so you will hear the clinking of golf balls and chatting of golfers on the sunny days. There is a business next door and it is open during the week days, and there is some noise that comes from there. There is also an active railway nearby and the train comes by several times a day. Asheville is a temperate rain forest, thus the amazing diversity of our forests and numbers of waterfalls... so it rains every day around 2pm (in the summer) for about half an hour, so bring an umbrella or rain gear. Pack accordingly. I would encourage you to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway while you are here. **** I am willing trade for any coastal town like Los Angeles, Florida beach, Alabama..., big cities, South America, any island, most any coastal place in Europe, Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean. Guest AccessYou have access to the hammocks in the yard just outside the Tiny House: there are two, and a swing. I also have 2 inner tubes that can be rented for tubing trips down the French Broad River, also a 2 person blowup duckie kayak, available to rent. Interaction with GuestsI will stay relatively clear of you, unless you need something or want to ask my advice on places to visit around Asheville. Please text me if you need anything, have a question or need advice. The NeighborhoodOff the beaten path, but almost right downtown. One of the last dirt roads in Asheville, little known street, yet very close to all Asheville has to offer. Legal Airbnb. Not threatened to be shut down like many that are close to town. You will not have your vacation canceled! You can DEPEND on this rental! Getting AroundHaving a vehicle is recommended. You could also use a bike, if you are adventurous. Other Things to NoteThis has a very steep entry/exit and steep stairs leading to the loft. This place is not for the meek/handicapped. If you get winded walking up stairs, probably not the place for you. ***Stilettos not recommended! Also, there is a train that comes by several times per day (sometimes at night), so if you need a sound night's sleep or if trains bother you, please bring earplugs. There is another Airbnb on the premises.
