The SpaceOur mini-farm is peaceful place, but still close to all that Asheville has to offer. Recently remodeled, the house features bamboo floors, bright open spaces and a beautiful kitchen bar with van-gogh granite counters. The farm is home to over 500 blueberry, elderberry & cider apples plants. The plants are young so they are not loaded with fruit just yet, but you are free to pick all you can eat in season (mid-June to late July). Western North Carolina is the world's per capita leader in farmers markets and craft breweries with over 30 in the area, but we also have great restaurants, culture and music (amazing buskers downtown) too! Noble Cider is moving right down the road from the farm and plans to open in spring of 2015 and Addison Farms Vineyard and tasting room is just 15 minutes further north of Asheville. Guest AccessBedroom, private bathroom, living room & kitchen. All outdoor spaces. Interaction with GuestsI do travel alot these days to manage a 4 acre blueberry stand, Cedar Grove Blueberry Farm in Cedar Grove, NC, but if I am home I am usually working on the garden, cooking or playing with my daughter. I am happy to give any recommendations about food, sites, hikes etc. I've lived in Asheville for 14 years now, and owned a local wine distribution company, so I have an insiders take on the best restaurants and bars in town. The NeighborhoodIn the south we call it the 'cut.' Its basically a valley with one entry and exit. Its quiet mostly (on weekends it can get a little exciting) and reminds me of a small South American village. Nice clusters of small homes. Getting AroundNo buses or trains. Taxi is about $25 to downtown. Uber can get downtown for $18 during non-peak hours. Other Things to NoteBreakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I usually prepare it when I'm home and am happy to have you join us for breakfast. Just let me know what time.

The SpaceThe house sits right in the middle of an 80 acre organic farm which was placed in a landtrust /conservation easement several years ago. The farm is surrounded by another 130 acres of preserved land, also entrusted to the same conservancy. The house is run primarily on solar. There are no power lines or generators. We hear the creek, birds, frogs, crickets, coyotes, owls. The spring and summer songbirds call you to witness the beauty of sunrise. In the fall, the leaves turn to brilliant shades of flame eventually drifting to the ground so the trails become rustling magic carpets. The winter is so quiet, you can hear the snowflakes falling. Guest AccessGuests have access to two great hiking trails, one a moderate shady hike in the woods, the other a rather strenuous hike to the top of Pinnacle Knob which awards a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge skyline overlooking Asheville and the surrounding area. After the hike, a nice cold dip in the pond is a wonderfully refreshing reward (or you can foregoe the hike and just relax at the pond or play in the creek). Feel free to harvest organic vegetables from the house garden and fruit from the orchards when in season. The house has internet, phone, cards, games, a cabinet of art/craft supplies, books, an old school VCR with some vintage (mostly kid friendly) flicks and a few instruments. But mercifully, no TV. Interaction with GuestsContact information will be provided in the event of questions or needs regarding your stay. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a mountain farm community. Everyone in our cove is friendly and we all look out for one another. Should you have any problems you can feel safe to call on any of my neighbors. Getting AroundThere is no public transit out here. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get to downtown Asheville. The nearest country store is about a 10 minute drive. The nearest supermarket is about 20 minutes away. I recommend picking up groceries on your way in. Other Things to NoteThe final stretch of the road to my house is unpaved. It's easily passable, but take it slow and exercise caution.

There are two decks, 1 faces toward the creek and 1 which faces the flower garden in back. Guest AccessGuests have access to the 70 acres of property to explore. Within an hour, is Asheville, the Biltmore House, the Hot Springs Spa, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains. Interaction with GuestsYou will have the house to yourself, but Nancy lives in Asheville, and is available for suggestions of sight seeing, restaurants, or if problems occur. The NeighborhoodThis farm is located in the beautiful Sandy Mush Community where farmers, artists, and organic gardeners live. The house is somewhat isolated, but there is a small grocery store 10 minutes away. A large grocery store and restaurants are about 25 minutes away, near Leicester. Getting AroundBe aware that there are curvy mountain roads into this cove. You will need your car to get here, but bring your bikes and your hiking shoes. Other Things to NoteThis is a good place to write, create, meditate, enjoy "peace and quiet" in a comfortable space with all the amenities you would have at home. The SpaceIf you want the true feeling of Western North Carolina's mountain cabin living, complete with breathtaking panoramic views, then Mystic Valley is for you. The cabin sits on 15 acres of private, wooded and pasture property and is located only 30 minutes from downtown Asheville. It is the perfect retreat just far away enough to rejuvenate with nature but still close enough to make a quick trip for city dining and entertainment, if desired. This rustic cabin was built 25 years ago on family land by the current owner and a few of his closest friends, each a jack of their own trade. The White Pine logs were picked, sawed and hand notched. All of the cabinets and exterior doors were handcrafted out of Walnut. Rocks for the foundation and fireplace, which serve the living room and master bedroom, were gathered from the surrounding mountains. In addition, when built, the hardwood floors were pulled from the gymnasium of the high school in which the owner had attended some 18 years prior. The most distinct feature of the property, separating it from all others, is the stunning view from the 410 square foot covered front porch. You will not forget taking that first deep, relaxing breath or the stunning, almost 180° view of the open valley, authentic farmland and Appalachian Mountains. Peacefulness you will unlikely experience anywhere else. Mystic Valley is a perfect retreat for any season. It’s a great place for the entire family or a quiet, romantic weekend getaway for couples. So if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, or just want to experience something new, look no further and book your vacation today. Feel as though you've taken a step back in time but with all the comforts and amenities you need on vacation at Mystic Valley. The SpaceOur cozy cabin has a queen bed that comfortably sleeps two. The kitchen has everything you might need as well as a propane grill on the deck. The bathroom has radiant floor heat and a tile shower built for two. There is also and outside shower. The cabin has cable tv and a vcr. We boost a wifi signal from our house to the cabin, but the signal can be pretty weak at times, so we can't list it as having reliable internet access. Guest AccessYou will have the cabin to yourselves. There is a front deck where you will probably want to spend much of your time eating , relaxing and loving the views. Interaction with GuestsWe have a house on the property. You will have as much privacy as you desire. If you need anything we will be available by phone or a short walk. The NeighborhoodOur home is in a very rural area that is surrounded by farms and a couple thousand acres that have been put into conservancy. Instead of hearing traffic, you may hear cows and roosters in the valley mixed in with songbirds, owls, or bullfrogs depending on the time of the day. We are fortunate to be surrounded by a great group of eclectic neighbors who consist of flower farmers "Lady Luck Flower Farm", vegetable farmers "Blue Ribbon Farms", carpenters, veterinarians, potters, herbalists.... Getting AroundYou are an easy 35 minute ride into downtown Asheville. Hot Springs, Marshall and Waynesville are not too far away either. There is parking on site. The closest grocery store "Ingles", which has a decent selection of local and organic foods is about 20 minutes from the cabin, so it's probably best to pick up groceries on your way in if you plan on cooking your first night. Other Things to NoteIt is very important to note that we have a pretty steep gravel driveway that most cars do just fine with 9 months out of the year; however, weather can sometimes be unpredictable from December to March. With that said, if we get snow our driveway can be difficult. If we get snow or ice while you are here, we recommend that you park at the bottom of the driveway (there is a pull off) and walk up or we can drive you up on our ATV. We keep up with the weather as best we can and help guests make decisions about coming and going. Come up in a low gear, slow and steady. It's a beautiful road that brings you to our little paradise.

Here are some reviews from Black Wolf Cabins: Black Wolf Cabin exceeded our expectations. We spent two nights here and only wished we could have extended our time. The well-stocked and tastefully decorated cabin allowed us to relax and enjoy the peace. There has been thought and care about preserving the historical accuracy of the space while making it comfortable and welcoming for guests. The icing on the cake occurred when a neighbor spotted us coming in from a run and brought us juice, insisting we hydrate after exercising. We have rented nearly four dozen apartments and houses both in this country and in Europe over the years, and Black Wolf Cabin is among the best. We spent 2 nights here this week. It was absolutely amazing! It stormed most of the time we were there and we could not have cared less. Not only is the cabin remote enough to feel alone it is amazingly cozy. The loft stairs were a little steep for us but it is a wonderful room. After the storms the creek was full and bubbling. We fell asleep to the sound if it. I can not say 1 bad thing. I would not even improve anything. We will definitely be back! We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Black Wolf Cabins. Being from the city, we miss seeing stars in the night sky! We recommend Black Wolf Cabins to anyone wanting a retreat and respite from urban living. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is located in The Big Sandy Mush Community. Nothing has changed in the community in 150 years. It is like you stepped back in time. Here is a review from our guestbook: Black Wolf Cabin exceeded our expectations. The SpaceNestled in the Newfound River Valley, this is a quaintly modern slice of Country-French Asheville. Just 15-20 minutes from downtown, this charming 1100 sq ft. cottage has some of the best views in the whole region, with mountain scenes you'd expect an hour or more out. It's central to everything you'd like to explore and a one-of-a-kind scenic getaway when you're ready to relax. It's paradise, everyone who comes up here says so. From the front porch you can see the whole 180 degree panorama of the Newfound valley, reminiscent of a Little Switzerland meeting The Hobbit's Shire. It's beautiful and peaceful, and the sunsets can be breathtaking. The cottage is furnished and decorated in a cottage Country-French style - unique, tasteful, comfy, and a tad classy, with lots of original artwork collected in our travels. We stay here as well and want it to feel luxurious, peaceful and cozy. Two good sized bedrooms, both with plush queen beds, look out onto the woods behind the cottage. The woods are peaceful and filled with chirping birds through the spring and summer. Our beds are high quality with comfortable mattresses and great linens. We love to sleep, and are proud of how comfy the beds are - we know how important it is to get good sleep on vacation! There's a wood stove for use in the winter, which keeps the house nice and toasty (central air as well if you don't want to build a fire). Lounge on the chairs and enjoy the sun! Relax in the hot tub looking out over the sweeping mountain views, or be entertained inside with Internet, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, HBO and Pandora subscriptions (and anything else you care to find on our Roku player). In the summer there's a luxurious shared pool to enjoy just a hundred feet from the cottage! The cottage is one of two dwellings situated on a 5 acre family property that has a nice secluded feel. in addition to the shared pool there's a charming landscaping and gardens for you to enjoy, including a young orchard. We live downstairs in a completely separate unit. You will enjoy full privacy, but we are also available to help via phone or text if need be. There'll be a starter of fresh roasted coffee from our neighbors who run a premium roasting business in town. We hope you book with us so we can show you our hospitality! The SpaceThe original owners wanted to create the feel of an Italian villa. We've stuck with their dream, creating gardens, etc. to extend the impression. Your space is full of light with a beautiful view of the back yard. Guest AccessPlease enjoy our backyard, our patio and the hike on the farms behind our property - the vistas back there are amazing. Interaction with GuestsWhile we both have busy lives, we are happy to help you in an any way. You can call or if we are home, just come downstairs and knock. The NeighborhoodYou might get the impression as you drive onto our road that you are entering some hillbilly hollow. Don't be fooled. We have found the perfect hideaway. We hope you'll be pleasantly surprised as you arrive at our home. The drive is beautiful and the vistas in our neighborhood are just delightful. Getting AroundYou definitely need a car to get to us, and get to town. We'll happily provide maps and directions to different sections of Asheville and the surrounding areas. This part of North Carolina is really quirky because the roads snake through mountains, so a GPS is a really useful tool. Other Things to NoteSome GPS units tell guests that they have arrived when you are at my neighbor's. Ignore the asphalt driveway and continue on the gravel road to the very end. There is a neighborhood dog, Jake, who sometimes feels a need to greet new people. He is very sweet and belongs to our immediate neighbors, although he thinks we all belong to him. We have two cats, who won't come upstairs (unless you want them). They mostly play outdoors and are...well....cats.

Getting AroundThere is not any public transportation close to the farm and having your own vehicle is important for getting around. Other Things to NotePlease choose to either bring linens/sleeping bag/towels & pillows or rent them from the farm store for $15. We have all linens laundered. We are on a well and septic so anything we wash turns a nice hue of orange pink. A cancellation the week prior to reservation date receives a 50% refund. Our policy is to refund the guest 100% if the reservation is filled by a new occupant. Or if you reschedule for another date, we will add a free night to your reservation.

The SpaceThe Eco-Cabin Event Center is a unique approach to travel and lodging. You stay in your own private cabin and the community building houses the shared kitchen, bathrooms and shower house. Kitchen is new and fully equipped. The community building has solar power. The cabins do not have electricity, lights, plumbing, bathrooms, heat or air conditioning. Each cabin has a full sized and a twin bed. ***We do not provide linens for the cabins. Best if you bring your own. We can rent you linens for $15. Guest AccessWe encourage guests to familiarize themselves with all the farm has to offer. Visit the animals and by all means give them a carrot and they'll love you forever. Tour the gardens and see what is growing. There may even be the freshest ingredients you can harvest from the garden or purchase from the farm store. Walk in the pollinator garden and on the Moonshine Mary Trail. Gathering around the fire pit seems to be favored by all. You can just relax and star gaze. Bring a FLASHLIGHT! It gets dark out here on the farm and you will need it to navigate at night. Interaction with GuestsWe love to interact with guests but also very much respect your privacy. So, feel free to approach us or our farm manager with questions. We also have the underground insider recommendations for the best of everything Asheville and the surrounding area has to offer- from hiking, tubing, biking to restaurants like Indian, sushi, Mexican and those with a certain vibe. The plants are young so they are not loaded with fruit just yet, but you are free to pick all you can eat in season (May thru July). Please do be aware that our house is built into the side of a hill, so it is 68 degrees year round in this room. We do provide a space heater for those that like it hot and lots of blankets, but most folks find it a nice reprieve from the hot NC summers. Also please be aware that this room shares a bathroom room with another room downstairs. Guest AccessBedroom, living room, shared bathroom & kitchen. All outdoor spaces. There are two rooms downstairs, so if you wish to have a private bath, please message us and we can give you a special rate (add $20) on booking the 2nd room. Interaction with GuestsAmie and I travel a lot these days for work, but if we are home we are usually working on the garden, cooking or playing with my daughter.
