The SpaceThis 3rd story space is strictly floor level and boasts the biggest bed in the entire house . Woven clothes from Bolivia, Costa Rica and the Philippines hang on the walls. Other imports include items and art from Puerto Rico, Vietnam, Ecuador, Australia and India. These things have all been collected by our family and friends on their travels. Originally, this space was inaccessible. We opened it up to create a cozy, private bedroom for our daughter. Recently, it's been fun to think of it as a multi-cultural dreamspace. The Loft shares the kitchen and bathrooms if someone is renting The Green Room. If I get a rental in the Green Room during your stay, I will let you know asap. This house was in decline when we bought it 22 years ago. We have resurrected the splendor of the structure; reclaiming original trim wood and flooring that was fashioned with virgin timber from this region in the Blue Ridge mountains. Tom has done most of the renovation himself, incorporating his artistic flair and unusual floor plan designs. Simply walk out the door, down the hill and experience Marshall, a truly unique mountain town. If you enjoy great coffee, food, live music, beer and wine, old-timey dry goods and hardware stores, beautiful local art , awesome junk, seasonal weekly farmer's market, artist's studios and interesting special events- it's just a 5 minute walk! Look forward to meeting you! Guest AccessGuests will have access to a private bedroom, shared kitchen, bathrooms. In addition, the large front porch is big enough for all to share and the laundry room is available for all guests with a private entrance. Interaction with GuestsWe love to meet new people and have enjoyed the company of so many interesting people through airbnb. We respect the privacy of our guests and sometimes are unable to meet them in person if our schedules do not allow. The NeighborhoodQuiet, safe and friendly neighborhood-cannot be beat! The road to the house is a traditional steep, winding and narrow mountain street and has been likened to Old World Europe. GPS will lead you astray so please follow directions on your reservation. It is best to arrive before dark if possible. Getting AroundBest to have your own transportation, although there is a taxi available.

The SpaceA yurt is a round structure traditionally used by Asian nomadic peoples, meant to be taken down and moved. This one, however, stays right where it is. Updated with amenities for comfort, we intend for your stay in this yurt to be peaceful and relaxing. A kitchen and charcoal grill, indoor toilet and a claw-foot tub, and relaxing seating and sleeping make the stay almost as if you were in your own home. Except that the yurt is situated in the middle of a private 100 acre farm, with no other house for 360 degrees of countryside viewing. We are a small working farm, so you can see the gardens, horses and goats as you explore. There is a double bed fitted with luxurious bedding, as well as a futon mattress in a loft to sleep 1 or a cozy 2 people under the clear glass dome of the yurt which looks up at the stars. Guest AccessGuests will have access to hike all 100 acres and swim in a neighboring pond if they choose. Interaction with GuestsI will be available by phone or email with my guests as much as they need. As it is a working farm, I am usually around the farm feeding horses or otherwise on a daily basis. So, chances are I will meet every guest at some point in their stay, but then the space is yours to relax. The NeighborhoodA very short drive away is the very cute and hip town of Marshall, with artist studios on an island in the river, a coffee shop, 2 bars and 2 restaurants, a grocery store, and more. About 35 minutes away is the thriving city of Asheville. And the surrounding area of Western North Carolina is a perfect setting for all sorts of outdoor activities--hiking, biking, rafting, etc. Getting AroundThere is no public transit to the location. Guests will be responsible for driving to the rental up a short and easy dirt road, just off the main highway. It's about 35-40 minutes from Asheville and 45-50 minutes from the airport. Other Things to NoteWe ask that you keep in mind the location of the yurt is in the country. It is not uncommon to hear coyotes or gunshots at times, which echo through the mountains. Neither of these are a threat to our guests, just part of the experience! And please plan to bring sensible shoes if you choose to hike around.

Long Branch Cottage was built in the 1940's by cabinet maker Guy Rice and is currently owned by Chad and Michelle Bradley of Marshall North Carolina. In the 1960's, Chad's grandparents purchased the cottage and surrounding farm land and lived there for many years raising the Bradley family. Passed on through the generations, Chad and Michelle completely remodeled the cottage with all of the latest conveniences with stainless steel appliances, exquisitely tiled bathrooms including a large whirlpool tub. Sit on the front porch and watch the apple trees blossom in this 40 year old orchard established by Chad's grandfather, Sankey Bradley. Watch the orchard carefully for deer grazing for apple drops or the occasional black bear looking for a treat. Enjoy the blossoms of the 30 year old rhododendron that surround the house. Long Branch Cottage has a spacious living room with gas logs, flat screen television and wireless internet. The galley kitchen has stainless countertops, all new stainless appliances and the original cast iron sink. The dining room is light and airy with lots of windows for viewing wildlife and enjoying time with family. The cottage has two bedrooms with luxury sheets and quilts. The master bedroom with king bed ties into a beautifully tiled bathroom with a soaking tub large enough for two and an artistically tiled shower. The SpaceCedar Creek cabin feels rustic but has all the amenities of home. Towels, linens and all kitchen appliances are supplied. I apologize, but I do not supply food or bath amenities. There are two queen bedrooms and an extra bonus futon room (the upstairs bedroom and futon room do not have a door that closes between them--therefore there is not full privacy). The hot tub feels like you're in a tree. The cabin is small, so there is a 6 person limit. Washer and dryer are outside the cabin in the "basement" by the parking area. Guest AccessThe cabin is for rental only, so there is no shared space. There is wifi, cable and the hot tub. There are neighbors with small children, so please be considerate. Interaction with GuestsI am available to answer any questions you may have about the area and the cabin. I live in Asheville, so usually do not go out to the cabin while guests are there. The SpaceThis primitive rustic gem is located on 27 acres and surrounded by much more preserved land. It's very private and peaceful. You will enjoy the views and the hiking. There is a creek below where you can explore, relax and swim. The deck is large enough for 2-3 small - med tents to fit under the covered section and it is ok to sleep without a tent as well since the bugs are not bad. I have Verizon and I get good service here but I'm not sure about other companies. I cannot figure out how to make it so the listing says no beds so I figured I would clarify that there are no beds. There is a well with delicious drinking water that comes out of a hose that can be used as a cold shower. There is a composting toilet that you have to use sawdust to cover up after you go. I have toilet paper. I have electric running out to the deck. There is Christmas lights and candles for light.I have , plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and silverware that you can use just ask if you dont see something. There is a table and chairs on the deck for you to use. The cabin that is located next to the deck is rustic and perhaps a little run down but it does not dominate your view and should hopefully not effect your enjoyment. Also I have a pet dog who is small, cute and well behaved and will not bother you if you prefer not to have it around at all just tell me and I will keep him inside. * with a heads up I offer a tent setup with camp beds and sheets, blankets and pillows for an extra charge of $ 15 Guest AccessA bonfire pit with chairs, Electricity, water, lights, dishes Interaction with GuestsIf I am around I would be glad to talk a bit and tell you about the area and the land. I am often gone as well and I can respect if you want lots of privacy. I can be hired as a private guide for hiking/ backpacking/ sightseeing and regional towns like Asheville. I live in the cabin besides the deck but I am usually gone from 6 pm til 2am. The NeighborhoodMarshall is a charming beautiful small historic town 10 minutes away that has amenities like coffee shops, restaurants, stores, groceries and several river rafting companies and ziplines. Hot springs is 20 mins away and is a beautiful historic town with incredible hot springs to soak in. The Appalachian Trail and other great hikes are only 15 mins away. The immediate neighborhood is country homes and only one r.v trailer. It's a scenic area. Getting AroundThe access is a gravel road for the last quarter mile. Other Things to NoteThe road off the highway is paved until the very end the last 1/4 mile is a gravel road that is in pretty good condition until the last stretch where it gets bumpy and if it's been rainy some puddles. It is totally do able with a two wheel drive car though as long as you are careful and take the last bit slow.

The SpaceWelcome to Madison County, NC - the ´Jewel of the Blue Ridge´. Welcome back to a fading era of Americana where the "1 finger wave" is commonplace along the winding roads. (thankfully not that finger) You will be surrounded by churches and cemeteries and feel the history at every turn. Don´t worry Walnut House is not haunted.....yet, and if you lose your marbles here you will surely know where to find them. The NeighborhoodWalnut (formerly known as Jewell Hill or Duel Hill) is located between Asheville to the south and Hot Springs to the north and was the county seat from 1851 until 1855 when Marshall ( located 10 minutes away) was elected by a margin of 1 vote....folklore has it. The desanctified church seen from the porch originally served as the courthouse during this time. Named after the Walnut mountains to the north, Walnut is a small community scattered along the winding Barnard Road descending down to the French Broad River: Park and picnic, this is the main put-in for rafters and kayakers to experience class 3 and 4 rapids. The French Broad originates south of Asheville in Transylvania County, aka "The Land of Waterfalls" and flows northeasterly 218 miles through Hot Springs. This region was originally inhabited by the Cherokee before the revolutionary war. Afterward during westward expansion it was largely settled by Scottish and Irish immigrants due to the familiar geography.
