In the mornings you wake up to a beautiful view of Mt. Mitchell and the huge valley below. Sip your coffee as the clean cool mountain air gently wakes you up. Hike some of the local trails which are everywhere. Wade in the mountain creeks and rivers in the cool mountain water. Visit some of the most scenic waterfalls in the world as there are three very close to the chalet. Roaring Fork Falls, Setrock Falls and Crabtree Creek Falls are all less than ten minutes away. If you're up for a mountain hike you can hike from the chalet Roaring Fork Falls behind the chalet. Come spend time where time stands still....... The chalet is located in a subdivision but very private. Leave your cell phones OFF because they do not work - No service. Relax and listen to the birds and a gentle mountain wind as you catch your breath and maybe even doze off.

Eco Cove house is an elegant vacation home centrally located on a 117 acre wildlife preserve in Western North Carolina, 30 minutes from Asheville. The property adjoins the Pisgah National Forest. It is a 1500 square foot house, a peaceful, romantic getaway. It is spacious and artistic, with many family works of art. The Living room, formal dining room (seats 6) and master bedroom are on a 50' porch overlooking the forest. A burbling creek, slider, glider, wicker rocking chairs and lounge contribute to the wonderful peacefulness of our property. The living room sports a stone fireplace with gas logs for fall and winter cuddling, 2 couches and 2 Lazyboy chairs. There is a wide screen TV with satellite including HBO, a stereo/record player, radio, and a small music library. Eco Cove offers a King suite and a queen bedroom with a full bathroom across the hall. The master suite has a hot tub for weekly rentals (drained and cleaned after each week's rental) and an entertainment center with DVD/VCR/TV and movie library. Our full kitchen has all the amenities and adjoins a breakfast nook with a bay window overlooking the gardens. There are 4 chairs, a table, and a small counter for easy eating. Across from the nook is an open den, with a wild animal theme. (It has a day bed which sleeps two, with owner's approval, and would incur an extra charge.) There is a washer/dryer and half bath on the other side of the room. Eco Cove is located on a state maintained road, 1/2 mile from 70 Highway, and 10 minutes from Old Fort or Marion with shopping, restaurants and bars. Lake James and 2 waterfalls are also very close by. We are 20 minutes from Black Mountain or Morgantown, and 30 minutes from Asheville, our favorite city in the south. This area of Western North Carolina is known for its festivals, waterfalls, hiking trails, food, breweries, vineyards and, of course, the Biltmore House. We think the natural beauty of our National Wildlife Certified Cove is at the top of the list. At Eco Cove you are surrounded by tranquility and beauty. It is its own paradise. Deer, a variety of birds, bunnies, waterfowl, turkeys, squirrels, and the occasional red fox or bear are our only neighbors as they pass through our property. We own ridge to ridge in our cove, backed up next to the national forest. Our acre pond has five pound koi that love to be fed from our dock, which is part of our sunset enjoyment. Bull frogs and peepers sing in our small ponds, and fireflies light up the meadows with their dance. The stars compete overhead, and the dock is a great place to watch the firmament. There is no better place to unwind and enjoy nature than Eco Cove. Yet we are minutes away from many tourist attractions. We keep detailed information on hand so you can make the most of your stay, seeing all you have time for, but knowing you'll have to return to see it all!

Eight hundred years ago, the Yancey County area was a thoroughfare and hunting ground for the Cherokee Indians. In the mid-1700s, Scottish, English and Irish farmers settled the mountains and fertile river valleys. The original settlers’ cabins and Cherokee villages have long since vanished, replaced over time by quaint towns and hamlets sprinkled throughout the valleys and in the various hollows of the surrounding mountains. This land was heavily mined from the mid 1800s through the mid 1900s for mica, feldspar, lithium and other minerals. Logging during the 1900s resulted in new hardwood forests and lush undergrowth. Yancey County is known for preserving its local cultures and traditions, including the architecture of past generations. Today young and old alike celebrate Yancey County’s multi-cultural heritage through education, music, storytelling, crafts and other special events. A log cabin vacation is not like staying in a hotel. There's no maid service. Sheets and towels are ready for you when you check in - but you will have to make your own bed! On the other hand, what is precious is the peaceful return to nature - the babbling of the creek, the freshness of the air and of the forest. You can sleep with the sounds of nature coming in your open window - except maybe in winter! And this is the beauty of a log cabin vacation - you have the full experience of nature, with the comfort of cooking in a modern, well-equipped kitchen, your own bathroom, and a real bed at night. Not to mention the coziness of a fire, and the comfort of both heating and air conditioning as needed. Our cabin home (and your vacation getaway) is about 1100 square feet. There is one large bathroom with a full size washer and dryer, a dining area, and a game area. The cabin is located in a hemlock grove. While sitting on the deck, you are looking out over a rushing stream, while ridge-top views of the mountains (especially in winter) complete your experience in getting away from it all. Any time of the year, there's a whole wide world of nature to explore, or just to sit down and experience. Join our regular returning guests in experiencing the relaxing qualities of nature, waiting for you any time of year. Here, time seems to stand still as you forget about deadlines more pressing than hiking or fishing. PETS POLICY: Maximum two dogs per visit.
