The SpaceOur house was built in 1910 and completely renovated in 2014. It still retains its original charm and we appreciate it for its history. Mozelle Riddle, a woman that worked in the Bynum cotton mill, lived in our house from (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). We call our house "Mozelle's House" or "The Riddle House" to honor her memory. Though we never got to meet her, we hear that she made killer chicken and dumplings. Guest AccessThis listing is for a guest room with one double bed. This listing includes: - guest room with a double bed - space in closet - luggage table - lots of lovely natural light - bathroom next door to the bedroom with shower + bath - space in the fridge/freezer - access to washer/dryer/iron - access to backyard - basic toiletries If we are home when you book your stay, you can expect coffee/tea and a hot breakfast featuring local fare. We are big fans of making classic cocktails at home and are quite good at it if we do say so ourselves :) We are happy to offer you something fancy for your cocktail hour if you'd like! If we are not home when you stay, there will still be coffee, tea, and muffins for you to enjoy. As a guest in our home, we hope you'll make yourself at home! Interaction with GuestsWe are typically at the house when we host our guests. We love meeting people and showing them around Bynum but we are also very good at letting you do your own thing. As AirBnB veterans, we know what it's like to be both a guest and a host, and we try to use our experiences to give you the best experience possible. The NeighborhoodBynum is a quirky little village full of artists, old-timers, Clyde Critters, and colorfully painted road signs inviting you to "Slow Down, Love." Bynum is an un-incorporated community in northern Chatham County between Pittsboro and Chapel Hill. The town began life as a "cotton mill town." The original mill was built about 1872 beside the Haw River. In stages from 1890 to 1910, small two to six room houses were built on the hill above the mill and rented to the mill workers and their families. Our house is one of those houses. We love being able to bring new life into the space and we adore hosting folks from all over. Although there's lots to see and do within a 15 minute drive, we think Bynum is a great enough destination in and of itself. Just by walking out our door, you can rent kayaks, go tubing, walk the beautiful two mile nature trail to Pokeberry creek, visit the home of Clyde Jones, a world renowned folk artist, attend a storytelling performance or bluegrass concert at the Bynum General Store, join the bluegrass jam at "the store" on saturday mornings, and take in the spectacular views on the old 15/501 bridge. Getting AroundIf you plan to explore Bynum for your stay, you probably won't need your car all weekend! We've also had folks bike from Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Street parking next to the house is reserved for our guests. Other Things to NoteWe have a very friendly Treeing Walker Coonhound and a super chill cat. Both love attention but we will make sure it keep them out of your way as you'd like. Things to do in Bynum: - Go see Clyde Jones' house - Visit the local artists in the community (many have little shops and work areas in their homes that they love to share with others) - Walk down to see the old mill site - Take a walk down Bynum Bridge - Tube or kayak down the Haw River - Walk the Lower Haw River State Natural Trail - Have a meal of a lifetime at the Fearrington House (reservations required) - Treat yourself to fantastic drinks and supper at Oak Leaf in Pittsboro - Catch some bluegrass or storytelling at the Bynum General Store

The SpaceOur craftsman home was originally built in 1903 and was part of small farm full of crops and livestock. The house caught fire in 1946 and was quickly repaired and rebuilt within weeks thanks to a large community effort to help (Aunt) Joanna, a young war widow. Just before she passed away in 2000, the house was updated with a new roof, HVAC, and other amenities as a complete renovation was completed. This year (2016), we've continued the modern updates with new flooring, paint, wifi, and complete furnishings. Guest AccessYou've got the entire house and porch to yourselves! Talk a walk around the property if you've got dogs or to stretch your legs. Interaction with GuestsLet us know if you need anything! We're incredibly happy to meet our guests or let you slide in and out without notice. The NeighborhoodFor food and recreation, we are just down the road from Bynum, Fearrington, Chatham Park and Briar Chapel. This area is rapidly developing and there is always something new to see (and eat)! The Haw River, Allen & Son BBQ, and Carolina Brewery are some of the favorite spots to check out. Getting AroundOur place is proximal to Chapel Hill (15 mins), Pittsboro (10 mins), Jordan Lake (10 mins) and RDU Airport (30 mins).
