The SpaceThe spacious High Tower is nestled in a forest cove near the Asheville watershed. The views are spectacular, and the feeling is peaceful seclusion. High Tower is a two-unit chalet, fully furnished, and accommodates up to 14 guests. The upper unit may be occupied simultaneously by another guest or party. Guest AccessEach unit has a fully functioning kitchen, with electrical range/oven, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, and cookware. Interaction with GuestsI direct operations and programs at Eagle Rock Farm which is located down the road within walking distance of the High Tower. I will try to be available to walk through our rental upon guests arrival. The NeighborhoodSummer haven is an old, 1920's neighborhood that has remained small and forested. Surrounding housing is sparse, which gives High Tower a secluded feel. The SpaceOur beloved Waterfall Cottage is perfect for an individual or couple who wish to experience the best of both worlds, the peaceful zen of the woods with two mountain streams which come together on our property as well as being within 15 minutes driving distance to both downtown Asheville and Black Mountain (where you will find great abundance of amazing restaurants, shopping, nightlife and other attractions). The cottage contains a queen size bed. There is also a small living space with a futon plus table/chairs for 2 people, full bathroom (from which you have a view of our small waterfall), and a cozy galley kitchen (for simple food preparation). Your own private back deck also overlooks the water. The cottage is located on one acre of land in the Buckeye Cove Community of Swannanoa (between Asheville and Black Mountain). The "main house", where my husband Jason and I live, sits about 50 feet from Waterfall Cottage. If you like, you may also meander along the woodland path which we created along the perimeter of the property. We are eager to share our little piece of paradise with likehearted souls! NOTE: Most guests at Waterfall Cottage are not able to get a signal on their cellphone. Usually driving a short distance out of our cove will restore your cellphone signal. We have Wifi on the property, however guests' ability to connect to it is not guaranteed. Devices such as tablets and laptops seem to connect better than cellphones. Also provided: -TV with Roku including Netflix -Air conditioning/Heat -Refrigerator -Coffee maker(fresh local coffee and tea provided) -Toaster oven and Microwave oven -Blender -Two electric NuWave brand burners for cooking -Basic cookware/cooking utensils -Flatware service for 4 people, glasses, mugs, etc. -Standard staples such as dishsoap, handsoap, cooking oil, sugar/honey, salt/pepper. Jason and I have been practicing massage therapists in the Asheville area since 2001. For an additional charge, you can also book a single or couples massage with us for during your visit. Massage sessions will take place on-site in Waterfall Cottage. Massage therapy rates are: $75 per 70-minute session ($150 for couples massage) $100 per 90-minute session ($200 for couples massage) (We prefer that massage sessions are scheduled ahead of time before your arrival if possible.) Guest AccessGuests are of course free to enjoy the privacy of the cottage as well as to explore (if they so choose) the property's woodland path and/or sit on the bench next to the waterfall. A walk on the roads in our quiet, woodsy neighborhood can be delightful as well. If hiking is your thing, we are also only 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and the trails of Warren Wilson College as well as 25 minutes from many hiking possibilites in Montreat. Jason and I do not consider the main house to be a shared space, however it is totally OK if you want/need to come to front door for any reason that may arise. We want to make ourselves as available as possible for both friendly interactions with our guests as well as for guiding guests as much or as little as is requested during their stay. I would say that, as a rule, we usually err on the side of giving guests as much privacy as may be desired. Also, guests booked for more than a 5-night stay are welcome to use the washer/dryer in the main house as needed. Access to other area attactions/amenities: Closest supermarket(Ingles) - 7 min. Whole Foods/ Earth Fare/Trader Joes - 15 min. Biltmore Estate - 20 min. Warren Wilson College - 10 min. Blue Ridge Parkway entrance - 10 min. Regarding our flexible check-in, I will try to accommodate guests' check-in preferences as best as I can. It might be good to communicate about check-in time before making a reservation. Since my schedule and other obligations vary from day to day, I may or may not be able to offer you as early of a check-in as you may need/want for your travel plans. Interaction with GuestsJason and I will be present next door in the main house (where we live with our two cats, Liam and Lyle) during your stay. We want to do all that we can to ensure both your comfort at Waterfall Cottage and that you have the richest experience possible here in the mountains of North Carolina. Depending on the day, we have a tendency to come and go quite a bit. We also, from time to time, see local massage therapy clients in the main house. On nice evenings, you may just catch us taking our own walk along the woodland path with Liam and Lyle, one of our favorite family activities. We trust that we are attracting visitors who share a mutual respect for both privacy and autonomy. AND, in setting our intention for the co-created experience of appreciation, comfort, harmony, peace, freedom, connection, and fun...we invite interactions with our guests which flow with the ease of the soothing mountain stream that serenades us here in our cove. Getting AroundThere is no convenient public transit for Waterfall Cottage. Guests must plan on having their own vehicle for transportation. We are located around 25 minutes from Asheville Regional airport. Other Things to NoteWe like to do our best at keeping Waterfall Cottage an acceptable enviroment for people who deal with allergies to cats. Please do your best to not allow either cat to come into the cottage (especially for an extended period of time). No other pets are allowed on the property. As is the case in many pockets of our mountains, you may not have a cell phone signal here in the cove. U.S.Cellular and Verizon seem to do OK here, but there is no guarantee with your particular provider. We do have a landline at the main house if you have strong need to place or receive phonecalls during your stay (to be used on a limited basis). We will provide you with exact directions prior to your arrival. Do not follow Mapquest. Your GPS may get you here, but we prefer to make sure you have our homemade directions too.

The SpaceEnjoy yourself for 2 nights or more on our 18 acre farm in the prettiest valley in the Asheville, NC region (the Swannanoa Valley). Located next to Warren Wilson College, we have vacation rental homes on our farm that are available from mid-November thru mid-March and from Sunday thru Wednesday during other months of the year. Enjoy amazing views of the northern Craggie Mountains, with sunsets like no other, beautiful gardens on our farm, and access to the Swannanoa River and over 25 miles of hiking trails, right from your door step. We're the best kept secret in town for vacation rentals! This home is has a great deck overlooking the valley, a side yard for picnics and access to the farm. Guests are just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville and 8 minutes from Black Mountain. A five minute drive gets you to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate and more mountain attractions. There is a kitchen with modest cooking implements, service for 20, W/D, wi-fi, TV with cable. We're unique in that we are one of the few remaining farms, this close into Asheville that has been undeveloped. Because our neighbor is Warren Wilson College (who owns 1100 acres of the valley), the region is pristine. Our prices are affordable and we are known for our kind and attentive service. We want you to enjoy the mountains and come back to visit us again. We can also provide additional services such as catered food, tours, etc. Guest AccessThere are 25 miles of hiking trails accessible from this house. Guests can walk on the farm, be by the river, gorgeous flower gardens in season, and just chill on the deck. Guests can rent a carriage ride around the property with our draught horse, Dr. Love. Just inquire! Interaction with GuestsI try to meet the guests when they check in. My cell phone is provided and I can respond to any necessary calls. A property manager is on duty with any issues that may arise during your stay. The NeighborhoodThis home is in one of the few remaining largely open valleys close to Asheville. We are a neighbor to Warren Wilson College, who owns 1100 acres of land, has cattle farms, 700 acres of managed forests etc. There are modest homes on the road that gets you to our farm and in the trees behind us there are million dollar homes. It is a typical southern, mixed neighborhood. This home is not palatial by any means, but it's neat and clean and capable of comfortably hosting a good sized group. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop just 1/2 mile away. You can travel to and from Asheville and Black Mountain from this stop. Other Things to NoteThere is a fireplace in the home but it is not working. There is a propane insert, but we do not hook it up due to problems with guests knowing how to work it properly/safety reasons. While we know the ambiance of a fire would be nice, we have unfortunately had to decide not to have it hooked up because of peoples' various levels of comfort with propane operation. The shower in the basement is a standup unit that is small. The nozzle on the shower should be placed toward the back of the shower. Otherwise, you will get splashed when you turn it on. There are a lot of cabinets in the kitchen. The dishes are kept in the cabinet above the dishwasher. There is a binder in the kitchen that has house rules and information. Please make sure to read this, as it contains the password for the internet and other important information.

This secluded cabin was built in 1947 from logs grown on the surrounding 16 acres of land. On the ridge above, EW Grove had intended to build a second Grove Park Inn. Fully renovated, the cabin has a cathedral ceiling, great room with a stone fireplace and exposed beams, knotty pine paneling throughout, cedar-lined closets, hardwood and tile floors and fabulous views. A geothermal heat pump installed in 2012 provides instant, green energy to heat and cool. From the quiet privacy of the front porch, downtown Black Mountain is less than 10 minutes east and downtown Asheville is 20 minutes west of the cabin. For nature lovers, wild turkey and bear are regularly spotted on the property. For hikers, your adventure begins just beyond the French doors of the sun porch. The SpaceThe cabin is approx 1500 SF (plus the huge wrap around deck) and is peaceful, quiet and deep in the woods, where you may encounter all kinds of wildlife, including hummingbirds (that you can watch from the feeder outside the living room window), numerous birds at the bird feeder, squirrels and chipmunks on the deck (also eating the bird food), wild turkeys, rabbits, raccoons, the occasional deer, and black bears (although not usually a problem - just make sure garbage is kept secure). And feel free to bring your own creatures as well!! The cabin is extremely dog friendly with a large 8' tall fenced-in area around the cabin/under the deck that pets can access either by 3 stairs at the back or a ramp in the front (I have an elderly dog who can't do stairs so I built a ramp access ). This makes it easy to let you`re dog out for potty breaks.....just open the door and out they go without worrying about them wandering away. This is a phenomenal feature when it`s 20 degrees and you REALLY don`t feel like going out there with them!!! :) There are only 5 houses on the mountain, so the cabin is perfect if your plan is to hide away and "veg" without seeing another soul during your visit as you cozy up to the fireplace and soak in the amazing view from the deck, read one of the bevy of books from the lending library (take a book, and/or leave one!), or even play games such as Trivial Pursuit, several versions of "Scene It" and Monopoly just to name a few! As far as sleeping arrangements, the cabin could actually accommodate up to 9 people, although it may be a bit crowded unless a couple of those were kids :) - The loft has a queen bed and twin bed with private bathroom - The back bedroom has a twin day bed plus a twin trundle bed, so can be separate or moved together for a king bed, with a private bathroom. - The living room sofa is a super comfortable queen bed - The twin day bed in the living room has a control to be able to raise head/feet, which is great to read, watch tv or just gaze at the mountains - The reading chair between the living & dining room is also a twin bed. ***Also, there is a super comfortable queen air bed that I often use to sleep outside on the deck when the weather is nice - it's awesome to fall asleep under the stars listening to the crickets!! Other than that it has all the usual stuff, including: * Full kitchen with all the appliances as well as coffee & tea with all the fixins' (H&H, sugar, and the pink, blue & yellow stuff) , snacks, oatmeal, butter, spices, condiments, paper towels, napkins and anything else that happens to be in the fridge or pantry are up for grabs! As far as condiments/spices, my only request is if you use the last of something, please replace it! :) * Both bathrooms have a basket of essentials just in case you forgot something. * Washer/Dryer (please limit to 2 loads unless staying longer than a week) * 60" TV with DISH, HBO Starz & Encore channels * DVD/VHS player and a slew of movies! * ATT Uverse Internet (though due to the remoteness of the cabin, it's my only option and comes with a monthly data limit so it's not suitable for streaming, gaming, Netflix, etc, but fine for browsing, email, etc) * Stone Fireplace with blower * Two mini split systems with heat and air conditioning. * Solid wood furniture * Outside heater * Fire pit * BBQ Grill - (Weber 22" charcoal kettle type) * Outdoor dining table & chairs * Solid wood outdoor lounging chairs with cushions I also have a huge file box of brochures with the various things to do in the area Please review the "Getting Around" section for information about the 4WD/AWD vehicle requirements/options, and please check out the description of the pictures for more details about the house layout! Guest AccessGuests will have access to almost anything the cabin has to offer including: - Hiking sticks, umbrellas - All "under counter appliances" such as ice tea maker, panini grill, Nutrabullet, rice maker, New Wave oven, mixer, etc - Linens in dining room cabinet (tablecloths, napkins, etc) - Washer/Dryer including detergent, softener sheets, bleach, spot remover, etc (please limit to 2 loads unless staying longer than a week) - Iron/Ironing Board and clothes steamer located in washer/dryer closet opposite the hot water heater. The only exception (which has the owner's "stuff"): - In the downstairs bedroom guests have access to the middle closet only, which has space to hang clothes, and the top 2 drawers of the dresser are available as well - The basement/crawl space - The closet under the stairs - Also, please avoid using china/glassware on the top shelves next to the refrigerator and to the right of the stove. Interaction with GuestsAs you can see from my reviews, I try to make sure my guests are comfortable, have everything they need, and most of all have the perfect vacation, whether that be to enjoy downtown Asheville, experience outdoor adventures, explore our craft beer industry, or just stay at the cabin and veg :). I am always available to provide info about the area and/or recommendations for tours, restaurants, places, events, activities (many that are "off the beaten path" :). Most of all I want my guests to make themselves at home! I am extremely flexible with check in/check out times! So as long as it doesn't interfere with another guest's stay, my motto is that you'll get here when you get here and you'll leave when you feel like it! :) I will be here whenever the guests arrive to guide them up the road and through the house to answer any questions. After that I will be available as often as needed since I will be staying at my dads 10 minutes away, so will be able to take care of any needs, issues, or questions immediately! Also - Is your trip a surprise event? Birthday? Anniversary? Let me know and I can have decorations, a cake, flowers, balloons, etc.....I absolutely LOVE setting up the cabin for a surprise event!! I recently hosted a guest who proposes to his girlfriend on the deck and I decorated with dozens of candles, flowers and champagne, and I was so thrilled to be involved in creating the perfect atmosphere for such an unforgettable moment, and I was honored that he chose the cabin for such an auspicious occasion. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is a perfect location to get away from it all, yet it's also super close to the eclectic, artsy downtown Asheville, which has several types of tours including the LaZoom Comedy Bus (it's BYOB), the Downtown Segway Tour, and of course for the beer connoisseurs, several Asheville Brewery Tours are available! We are very proud of our "Beer City" title for the 4th year in a row and the statistic of the most microbreweries per capita in the nation! Or you can take a leisurely walk around town to experience the unique culture, art, restaurants and shopping that downtown has to offer. In addition, the famous Biltmore House and Grove Park Inn are a short drive. I definitely suggest you download the "Dig Local" App for daily up to date info on the Asheville scene, and check out Groupon for deals on numerous attractions, events, wellness, and merchants! Or if your goal is to experience the "outside" scenery we are a short drive from several whitewater rafting and tube floating outfits, Zipline tours, waterfalls, horseback riding, skeet shooting, and about a billion hiking, mountain biking or road biking trails to explore, as well as snow tubing & skiing areas! The famous Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) entrance is about 7 minutes from the cabin, which leads to numerous opportunities for beautiful landscapes and interesting stops including: * the Folk Arts Center (with all BRP info and local arts & crafts) * Craggy Gardens (beautiful view and numerous hiking trails) * Mount Mitchell (highest mountain east of the Mississippi with a cool 360 view and restaurant) * Linville Caverns (underground caves with stalagmites and stalactites!) * Grandfather Mountain (a huge attraction all by itself with a mile high swinging bridge) * Cherokee (think Indian culture and casinos!) OVERALL APPROX DRIVE TIMES: * 5 min to I-40 * 7 min to Warren Wilson * 10 min to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Folk Arts Center, grocery store, post office, and restaurants * 15 min to downtown Asheville or Black Mountain * 20 min to Biltmore or Grove Park Inn Getting AroundMust have either a 4WD or AWD to reach the cabin since access is via a mile long dirt road with numerous switchbacks.... Unfortunately this is the trade-off to be able to live on top of a mountain, yet only 15 min to Asheville ;) If this is a problem, just send me a note and , depending on the dates/length of stay, we can work something out where you can use my vehicle Other Things to Note* Four-legged kids always welcome!!! The cabin is extremely dog friendly with a large 8' tall fenced-in area around the cabin that pets can access either by 3 stairs or a ramp (I have an elderly dog who can't do stairs so I built a ramp access ) * I can`t stress enough that the Wi-Fi is not to be used for streaming, gaming or similar activities that require a massive amout of data. Because I`m in the middle of no-where, my only options for internet have a monthly data limit that is more than enough for general usage, email, surfing, even sending/receiving docs & pictures. If there is an overage data fee on my account, I will have to back charge the responsible guest. * The cabin has a 680' Well with the most amazing water you'll ever taste.....freezing cold right out of the tap! So don`t bother lugging bottles of water up here :) * This may not be the best place for small children due to the openness of the stairs and deck, but it's up to you since you know your kids....if you're ok, then I'm ok! I've had several kids stay here (as young as 3 Yrs old) without a problem, but just wanted to mention it! * Please remember this is a cabin in the middle of the woods......I do spray every couple of months, but it is by no means a "pest free zone". You may encounter a creature or two inside the house, but nothing that can't be flattened with a shoe :)
