The SpaceIf privacy is what you are looking for, look no further!! If you want peace and quiet with amazing views, your search is over!! We are a rural listing in the foothills of one of God's magnificent creations, the Blue Ridge and the Appalachian Mountains. Don't let that alarm you because we are only minutes from some of NC's largest cities and all that they have to offer!! As you drive down to the end of our half mile long driveway and round that last left curve, you'll find the dream home we completed for our retirement years just two years ago. Our home is tucked away at the very back end of almost 19 beautifully wooded acres overlooking Farmer Lake here in Yanceyville, NC. Needless to say, our stunning surroundings are still under construction as we are in the process of landscaping the acreage that has been cleared. Although we are rural, we are minutes away from the Food Lion grocery store, an Amish store that sells bulk food items, deli sandwiches, and hand dipped ice cream. Of course we have the usual fast food restaurants and there's even an 18 hole golf course. Danville, Va. is just 15 minutes away with any type of shopping you could possibly need. There is a tank museum that we just recently visited and there's also a museum that covers the role tobacco played in the growth of that area as well as a children's science museum. Thomas Day, a pre-Civil War "free man of color" that made expensive furniture that was shipped world wide is over in Milton less than 20 minutes away. While you're over in Milton, be sure to give "Aunt Millie's Pizza" a try as it is the best pizza around!!! While you're over there check out the Virginia International Raceway (known as the VIR by the locals), which is meer minutes away from Milton!!! It seems there is some kind of racing event over there almost every weekend, especially over the summer months. Martinsville, Va. is about 25 to 30 minutes away and as most racing fans know, there are NASCAR events being held there twice a racing season. Greensboro with it's major Classic Christmas Craft Shows the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after Thanksgiving, big name music concerts and major sporting events are 30 minutes away. Winston Salem with Old Salem is about 45 mins away. Thomasville and it's bi-annual Furniture Market is just south of Greensboro. Mebane, with it's Tanger Outlets and amazing small town antique stores are 45 minutes east of us and Durham is another twenty minutes further with South Pointe Mall, Duke University campus, the VA Medical Center, as well as Duke University Medical Center are there, as well. At the end of your day, whichever direction you choose to follow, you will come back to the peace and quite of our "Secluded Little Peace of Heaven" right here on earth!! Guest AccessOur guests are encouraged to use the apartment as if it's their own!! The only thing we DO NOT allow is smoking in the house. Your kids will enjoy exploring our acreage with it's creeks feeding into the lake. When a summer storm passes by dumping a lot of rain you can really hear the water rushing down to the lake. Unfortunately, the lake is a watershed for the town of Yanceyville, therefore there's no swimming, BUT...if you have a boat and water skis you CAN water ski..I know, go figure!!! The boat landing is just minutes away. Fishing is allowed from the banks below, so bring your gear, as you just might catch dinner!! Interaction with GuestsWe will be available to answer any questions that may come up as well as short cuts that are available to the MANY various activities. We can be involved as much or as little as you desire us to be. Most importantly, we want you to feel like family and enjoy your visit enough to come back as many times as you wish!! Our home, is your home!!! The NeighborhoodThe greatest thing we enjoy about our neighborhood is that we are all spread out on 10 plus large tracts of acreage, therefore, we see our neighbors only in passing. It is very quiet here without all the noise and hubbub of the big city!! There will be boats on the lake at times during the day but they are limited to fishing boats. Are you a canoe or a kayak fan? Both are available for rent over at the boat launch not too far from here. Oh, if you're lucky you may even get a glimpse of our resident bald eagle and his mate, as well as deer and wild turkeys that frequent our grassy area below. We've been blessed this summer with a doe and her twins that we've watched grow, as well as a singleton and it's mom. Over all, we feel our guests will have the ultimate private, peaceful experience not available in any hotel or motel. There are several restaurants very close by. If you have a taste for great BBQ while you're here, check out Briggs BBQ and Cafe over on 86 south at the junction of Hwy 62 north. They open early for breakfast but unfortunately, they are only open till 2PM, Monday through Saturday. We also have a great family owned seafood restaurant called Hushpuppies right on the square in town. There is a GREAT family owned Italian restaurant, Venice, south of McDonalds on Hwy 86 as well as The Rio Grande Restaurant, if Mexican is what you're looking for!!! If a great steak is what you're craving, Steaks on the Square over in Danville is where you should head out to and it's just twenty minutes from here!! I guarantee you will get an excellent steak instead of the usual steak served by the various chains like Texas Road House or Outback. Also, if you're a great fan of chicken salad as we are, O'Kelly's, over in Danville has the absolute best I have ever eaten, hands down!!! I can almost guarantee you will not disappointed by any of these suggested places!! Getting AroundUnfortunately, being in a rural environment, there is no public transportation. Parking is more than adequate for you. If you are coming in by plane to Greensboro or RDU, arrangements could be made to pick you up and get you back there. Also, Amtrak is available into Greensboro and Durham as well. As for rental cars, they are available at both airports and our address can be found on any current GPS equipment.
