The Space**Note: This listing is to rent one bedroom in my Old Oaks home. Replace all spelled-out numbers (i.e., "two") with actual numbers in the following links!!! If you want to rent the entire home and allow my dogs and I to stay, the listing is here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/two031035 If you want to rent the entire home and have my dogs and I stay elsewhere, the listing is here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/one321192 If you want to rent individual bedrooms, visit these listings: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/153460two https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/153449three Description: My home is a spacious, fully remodeled, 2300 square foot American Foursquare located in the historic Old Oaks neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. Old Oaks is centrally located off the Livingston Corridor on the Near East Side (a few miles SE of Broad and High, the center of downtown Columbus). My home is central to most attractions in town, but is within walking distance to Children's Hospital, so it may be of particular interest to families visiting the hospital or doctors doing rotations. It neighbors German Village, Old Town East, Franklin Park and downtown, and is a short distance to the Short North, the OSU campus, Grandview and other central neighborhoods. Also a short bike ride from CCAD and Columbus State if you happen to be visiting either of those campuses. This listing is for one of the available bedrooms, the East bedroom. The other bedrooms are also available, just look for them. The entire home is also available, but no less than a week's notice is required to book it, as I do live in the home and have to make arrangements if you want the whole house to yourself. Being that each bedroom is available separately, there is a chance you may not be the only overnight guest. Best of luck on your search and have a lovely stay in Columbus, whether you choose to stay with me or not! Guest AccessThere is an oversized living/dining area with plenty of comfy seating and a fairly massive 60" top of the line Smart, Plasma 3D TV with HD cable, BlueRay, and HDMI cords for PC hookup. The guest bathroom features a standing tiled shower. The kitchen (not my groceries) is available for your use as well if you prefer to dine in rather than take in some local cuisine from one of our many popular restaurants. Sorry, but for the low price I'm offering nightly stays in these bedrooms, you do not have the option of doing laundry or using the whirlpool tub. Interaction with GuestsIn addition to the lovely home, by staying with me, you also gain access to an insider's view of Columbus. I have lived here since 1999 and have friends who have lived here their whole lives who comment that I know more about the city than they ever knew possible. I am well tuned-in to events going on in the city, and can recommend restaurants or attractions to suit any taste. If you like to explore, I can show you parts of this town most don't even know exist (you'll see one such area just by staying with me). The NeighborhoodCentrally located off the Livingston Corridor on the Near East Side (a few miles SE of Broad and High, the epicenter of Columbus), Old Oaks is Columbus's first and most well-preserved streetcar suburb. The neighborhood is famous not just for its architecture and history, but also for being one of the last neighborhoods in America where we know our neighbors. Each Wednesday, a different neighbor hosts a social hour on their porch and close to 30 neighbors stop by to catch up with one another. So bizarre is this in modern America that we were featured in the Washington Post for it*. Getting AroundJust a block from one of the most frequent bus lines in town, a ten minute walk to a CoGo bikeshare hub (daily bike rentals are $6/day), and I have the lowdown on the fastest taxi service in town. You'll never wait more than 5 minutes. Also just a 5 minute drive to downtown. Other Things to NoteYou should know that I own two large dogs. They are restricted to certain areas of the house and you will never come in contact with them if that is your desire.

The SpaceThis listing is for my guest room. There's a comfy double bed in the room (with a new mattress set), and a closet with shelves, bay window and hardwood floors. The windows are new, so it's well-insulated. The bath is shared, but my schedule is quite flexible so it's usually not a problem to work things out shower-wise. Guest AccessFull access to kitchen -- feel free to help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea or use it for meal prep. Just clean up after yourself. Back deck and front porch for relaxing outdoors in the warmer months. Parking is on street only, so you may have to park around the corner. There is usually a good amount of parking available if you are not arriving late at night, and if it's not an OSU home football game. While I don't have cable, I do have an Apple TV, which you are welcome to use when I'm out or otherwise engaged. The TV in the living room is also hooked to my Amazon Prime account. Interaction with GuestsI will generally be present during your stay; however, I have a rather busy lifestyle, so I'm in and out a lot, or may be working at home. I'm certainly available to give you directions and tips on the area though. I work full time and play roller derby, which keeps me quite busy in the evenings, so you'll probably have the house to yourself a bit too. The NeighborhoodSoHud ("South of Hudson") is a nice mix of OSU students, young families, and folks who've been here for quite a while. There is a small park on the corner, and there are a number of craft beer bars, restaurants and shops within a 10-20 minute walk/5 minute drive. Crew Stadium is walkable and the Ohio Expo Center is within a couple miles. It's a one mile walk or 20 minute (free) bus ride to campus, and about a 20 minute walk to Clintonville. It's a pretty quiet neighborhood generally, though it can get pretty busy on OSU football game days. There are lots of undergrads in the neighborhood this year. Getting AroundOhio State University is just one mile from my home. This is a great location for those visiting campus. One block from my home there is a bus stop for the COTA #4 line that runs downtown. The free OSU CABS ER line also services that stop. It's about a 10 minute walk to High Street where the COTA #2 runs from downtown to just south of Worthington, and OSU campus is within walking distance as well (1 mile). From the airport, a cab, Lyft or Uber is your best bet. We no longer have Lyft in Columbus. Other Things to NoteIf you are interested in a longer term booking (maybe you are visiting at OSU?) and you note that I have dates you need blocked out, you may still want to inquire. I have dates when I'm not traveling blocked, but if it's someone here for a longer term, the space may be available. I also have monthly and weekly discounts. I have an quiet and extremely-friendly small (m not home, but those with allergies or dog aversions should probably book elsewhere, thanks.

Both are included in the price of your reservation. We are located just a few blocks from High Street, Goodale Park, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and the Arena District. You will be able to explore a plethora of shops, galleries, salons, restaurants, bars, and clubs within walking distance. Shared bath, kitchenette for guest use on 2nd floor. Guest AccessCheck in and check out times are not set in stone, and we are willing to be flexible provided we are not inconveniencing other guests. Normal check in time is 3:00 PM and check out time is 12:00PM. Wireless internet, television with digital antenna (no cable), HDMI cable, and dvd player. Bottled water and breakfast bars provided. Fresh fruit, bagels, donuts provided on request. K-cup style coffee maker in the room. Please ask if you like creamer/milk in your coffee, which we'll be happy to provide. Interaction with GuestsWe will be around, but tend to be on the quiet side. We'll be happy to clue you in on our favorite local establishments. The NeighborhoodThis is where everyone in Columbus wants to be. In the heart of Victorian Village, close to downtown, Goodale Park, the Arena District, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and OSU. Getting AroundWe are very close to the bus line, and one of the city's bike share stations (check the cogobikeshare web site for details). There are also short-term use Smart cars all over the neighborhood for your use. Check out the website for Car2go. It will take about a week to get your user card. Uber also operates in Columbus. There is now a free circulator bus, the CBUS, that will take you from our end of the Short North down High St. and through downtown to German Village and back. It arrives every 10 minutes. Other Things to NoteThere are a few, on-going renovation projects around the house, so some areas are a bit rough, like a floor area that needs refinished, etc. There is a first floor bath that is new, adjacent to the living room and entry room. This bath is available to guests for use. However, a full bath on the second floor is pretty much reserved for guest use only (other than brief usage). The shower/bath was completely Bathfitter renovated this year. The third floor rooms are an oasis, which we are sure you will enjoy. Neither of us are cigarette smokers. Our guests can smoke whatever they want in their rooms, as long as no fires are started. :-) The house gets lots of fresh air, so no worries about any lingering odors. Nobody takes us up on it anyway - all visiting smokers have gone outside to smoke because that is what they are used to doing.

The SpaceJust two exits from the Columbus Airport, multiple private bedrooms and bathrooms available in ~3,500 SF shared, historic house in Woodland Park. Hardwood floors, meticulously clean, huge yard with vegetable garden, apiary and flowers, screened in porch, separate covered patio, fully renovated kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances. The kitchen even boasts an original 1920's home economics table as the island. There is tons of light. The living room and dining room even have an original Rookwood Tile fireplace. A few blocks from Franklin Park with quick access to 670, bus lines, and downtown. It's about a 10 minute drive to OSU, downtown, or the Convention Center. Also, very close to Bexley and Capital. Washer, dryer and tons of storage room available. Off-street parking in the driveway is reserved for guests. We have one short hair cat, Chairman Mao. Please message for more information. Availability of rooms, pricing and level of privacy varies depending on the day. Sometimes we can offer 4 bedrooms, typically 3 are available. All rooms have a double or a queen sized bed. A stow away twin for small children may be possible. There are three full baths in the house, but since either myself or my housemate will be home, one of those bathrooms will be shared. PRICING IS ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS OR LESS PER BEDROOM PER EVENING, UP TO TWO GUESTS PER ROOM, IF APPROVED. IT IS POSSIBLE TO PULL A SPARE BED OUT FOR EXTRA GUESTS, HOWEVER THERE MAY BE AN UPCHARGE. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE NEVER BOOK MORE THAN ONE SET OF GUESTS IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD, SO YOU ONLY SHARE THE HOME WITH US. :) In most cases, unless we don't have enough room, it's just as easy to take another bedroom as it is to pull out a spare stow-away mattress. SORRY - IT IS NEVER $100 FOR THE ENTIRE HOUSE. IF YOU REQUIRE MORE THAN ONE BEDROOM, PLEASE SEND AN INQUIRY WITH YOUR NEEDS AND WE WILL RESPOND WITH AVAILABILITY. Yes, we are open to negotiating based on length of stay and the number of bedrooms required. Internet provided, however there are no televisions. We love to cook and entertain, and of course, welcome guests to join in. A light breakfast can be provided upon request or we would recommend the nearby Angry Baker for a taste of local Columbus. Check out more photos of our home and find cool things to do on Columbus Underground by googling Breezy Home in Woodland Park. (URL HIDDEN) Guest AccessThe house is yours! If you need anything in the kitchen, just look around. Same for bathroom items, extra towels, etc. Please be considerate if staying in a room that has personal items in the closets or dressers - obviously those spaces aren't intended for guests. My office is used as such, so feel free to check out the record collection or my family photos and knick-knacks, but please respect my piles. :) Interaction with GuestsUsually one of us is around to assist. If not, someone is always nearby. I'm always available via email and texting! The NeighborhoodI like to refer to Columbus as the biggest small town I've ever been to. So, while it may seem like a big city and even have all the diversity of a larger city, it is remarkably safe and quaint. That said, our home is in what some call a "gentrifying" or "revitalizing" neighborhood. It's not for everyone - but we love it and call it home. Take the time to say good morning to the neighbors and kids walking down the street, and you'll quickly see what a friendly and diverse area it is. You might meet Ms. Kay, our neighbor who was the first black family to purchase a home in this previously segregated area, or you might meet James and David, a lively couple two doors down. Almost everyone knows us for riding bikes or hosting some of the best shin-digs around. Definitely check out the Conservatory and also the restaurants at 18th and Oak! Also, if you make it to the Columbus Museum of Art, you might note that Emerson Burkhart's house is on our block - the corner of Woodland and Richmond. The architecture in our area is amazing. The neighborhood, Woodland Park, was designed as a "street-car" suburb for the wealthy to escape the crowded downtown area. The street cars ran along Broad, Long and Mt.Vernon. You'll note that the closer to Broad, the more fantastic the houses. Also, you can find the history of our home and our neighborhood by googling the "Dornberg House" and then searching by street or address. (One of our neighbors writes up the history of each house as a hobby). Getting AroundColumbus is a car city. Although there a buses, they aren't particularly convenient... so, consider driving. We're pretty central to everywhere, and a few minutes from the highway, which gets you across town easily. UBER is also great in Columbus, and fairly affordable, especially for big events where you might have to pay to park anyways. The Space**Note: This listing is to rent my entire home with complete privacy. Myself and my giant breed dog will find somewhere else to stay. The rate is higher because it is a costly inconvenience to me. If you want to rent the entire home and allow my dogs and I to stay, the listing is here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2031035 If you want to rent individual bedrooms, visit these listings: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1534602 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1534493 Description: My home is a spacious, fully remodeled, 2400 square foot American Foursquare located in the historic Old Oaks neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The home features 4 bedrooms, and the following bed options: 1 queen size bed 1 queen size futon 3 full size beds 2 full size futons 1 couch 1 bay/reading window 2 queen size air mattresses These alone can sleep up to 20 people. If you are down with floor space, you could easily sleep more (numbers above 16 will require significant advance notice and a discussion between both parties). If you do not like my rates, please put American social norms aside and negotiate with me. I'd rather book you than not and the worst I can say is "no." I'm still trying to find that perfect price point. That said, you don't have a lot of options like mine out there; I've looked. Best of luck on your search and have a lovely stay in Columbus, whether you choose my Old Oaks home or not! Guest AccessThe guest bathroom features a standing tiled shower and a jetted whirlpool tub if you need to wind down from a day on the town. The kitchen (note: not my groceries) is available for your use as well if you prefer to dine in rather than take in some local cuisine from one of our many popular restaurants. There is a large porch that overlooks the boulevard for you to enjoy, or sit on the patio out back and enjoy your morning coffee (french press only!) - Short-term guests are NOT permitted to use my laundry facilities. - Guests are not permitted to use the studio/music room unless special arrangements are made with me personally. - Smaller group reservations will not have access to the master suite. Interaction with GuestsIn addition to the lovely home, by booking with me, you also gain access to an insider's view of Columbus. For more on the Old Oaks neighborhood, visit (URL HIDDEN) or check Wikipedia. *G00gIe "old oaks columbus ohio washington post" and the article will be the second result, right below this listing. Haha. Getting AroundBus routes to downtown, where you can connect to get anywhere in the city, are a block away. Taxis are a phone call away (It's about $8 to get downtown, $12 to the Short North, $15 to the OSU campus). Columbus's bikeshare program (CoGo Bikeshare) has a hub about a ten minute walk east by the hospital. The recently launched carshare program, Car2Go, has cars available in the area as well. You can walk to Old Town East destinations, German Village, or Franklin Park, bike anywhere, etc.
