The SpaceRob has always wanted a knotty pine getaway, so after the kids were all out of the house, he set to work creating his oasis. The gorgeous walls, huge built-in bookshelf, and cozy bathroom all help make this space the escape that it is. Guest AccessThe apartment has a handmade chess table (Rob even made all of the pieces himself), foosball table, kitchenette (with hot plate, microwave and refrigerator), TV, DVD player, books, and games. Interaction with GuestsThe apartment has a separate entrance so guests have complete privacy but my husband and I live upstairs so we can be reached easily if you need anything. The NeighborhoodOur home is nestled in 4 acres of trees with a clearing that provides a perfect view of Mt. Hood. We're just a quick walk to little beaver creek so we get a lot of native wildlife venturing through. One of our favorite things to do is watch the birds eat from the feeder on the deck. Getting AroundWhile our home is close to amenities such as grocery stores and restaurants, the closest bus stop is 2 miles away so a car is strongly recommended. The thing we love most about our location is that we are just a 30 minute drive to downtown Portland, a 30 minute drive to Mt. Hood, and a 10 minute drive to the Historic Columbia River Gorge including Multnomah Falls. If you're looking to come to the Portland area and have plans for the city and the mountain, then this would be the perfect place to stay! The Space Welcome Home! Spa in the woods bed and breakfast features rejuvenating, serene setting with unparalleled tranquility, and is close to the Columbia Gorge, Mount Hood and recreational/tourist areas. If you want to relax in a beautiful yard, listening to the birds singing, enjoying outdoor hot tub then make a stop here. Beat the Heat! Your room is comfortably cool and the home has full air conditioning for those hottest of summer days. Outside it is a little cooler and more comfortable here than Portland with our 1000' elevation. This is ideally located near the great areas for mountain biking, hiking, motorcycling, rivers, skiing/snowboarding yet only 4 miles to MAX or a 30 minute drive to downtown. The scenic Springwater Corridor is a biker's or a walker's paradise and is only 5 minutes away. Spa also offers pilates reformer and available massage for your wellness. Stay in shape and healthy while on your vacation. Wireless Internet included, and your host can tell you about all the backdoor things to do in the area. Riders, on a nice day we might join you to tour our gorgeous roads. English, Spanish and Portuguese are spoken. Stay here your first days when you arrive in the Northwest, be welcomed by gracious hosts and learn about the area you will love. The home is large and updated, and you share comfortable common areas with your hosts. The neighborhood is made up of homes all located on approximately one acre that has the feel of the real Oregon, for the experience of Northwest Living at its finest. WHO SHOULDN"T GO: If you want to be within walking distance of many shops and restaurants, see lots of newer tract homes, like having street noise, you might be disappointed here. If this is your first AirBnB experience, you'll find it different than staying at a conventional motel/hotel, as you are sharing space with your hosts and get a unique and personal perspective. Within a short drive exist some of the best eats in the NW, including Yoshida's exquisite riverfront restaurant. Guest AccessEnjoy your own private bedroom, which overlooks woods in the backyard, there are no views of other homes from there. You are a house guest welcome to share the common living areas of the home including gorgeous outdoor covered wood patio. Interaction with GuestsMany of our guests like the local perspective that you can only get staying with long time residents of the area. We sometimes have breakfasts with our guests or enjoy socializing together. The NeighborhoodGateway to the Gorge and Mount Hood, Our neighborhood is uniquely rural yet close in, with about 50 homes set on 1 acre or larger lots. Great things to do start 10 minutes away. It is wooded and set on a butte with a picturesque view of the 3 mountains and the columbia gorge. It is quite different than most of the AirBnB listings in Portland. Getting AroundIt is almost a necessity to arrive by car, unless you are an exceptionally strong biker. We are about 4 miles from the nearest MAX light rail station, but once you are there you can go almost anywhere in Portland. Parking is easy in the driveway next to the home.

The SpaceSquirrel Farm is a 15-acre ‘food forest' farming operation 20 minutes from downtown Portland at the portal of the Columbia River Gorge. Meadows, miniature horses, peacocks, a year-round creek, 500 year-old Douglas firs and views of Mt. Hood are just the beginning. Your suite is on the ground floor; and includes the entire first floor to yourself you have a private entrance which you can drive up to, a very quiet bedroom with a queen-size European-style feather bed. In addition, you'll have a sitting room with a full-size futon bed, chaise longue, writing desk, DVD player, artwork from around the world and a view of the Provence garden and hot tub. There is a game room with pool table, which includes a breakfast corner. We are delighted to provide you with breakfast and dinner by arrangement. But you have everything you need to be creative with local produce, game and wine, right there: mini-fridge, toaster oven, hotplate, coffee machine and utensils. We provide towels for tubbing and après-tub robes.(URL HIDDEN)But the best part: the Farm is situated at the gateway to the Columbia River Gorge. Hiking tours are available with Friends of the Gorge, Troutdale's historic street is lined with antique shops, cafes and restaurants. Wind surfing, kayaking and fishing adventures are available. If you are touring the Pacific Northwest by bicycle (and who isn't?), Squirrel Farm is the perfect HQ. If you prefer to savor the stillness and seek respite from the chase, on property you can enjoy the horses, wander down to Beaver Creek, learn a little about Permaculture and participate in the life of the farm to whatever degree suits you. Permaculture weekends can be had all year round. When I was starting out with the idea of welcoming guests to Squirrel Farm, I wanted to redress all the unpleasantness of the hotel/bed & breakfast experience: Like? Like rigid check-out times. Hate those... And what about he coffee making mine-field? Why is there never enough creamo to go support two cups of coffee? All that, we have done away with it. If we have missed something that vexes you, please share your thoughts; it probably vexes us as well. * Check In/Check Out times are negotiable. At Squirrel Farm, we understand that any travel experience – business or pleasure – can be ruined by inflexible, iron-clad check in/check out. Essentially, our guests are buying 24 hours of peace and quiet in rough-edged rural elegance – any 24 hours. If you are out on a hiking adventure in the Gorge and just need an extra 6 hours, we won't charge you for an extra day. Guest AccessWhile staying at Squirrel Farm you will have exclusive and private access to the hot tub, pool table, game room, basketball court and the entire grounds, they are all yours. Squirrel Farm is completely wheelchair accessible. Interaction with GuestsIf you prefer to stretch out, join me in the Great Room on the second floor for food, fun, a wrap-around verandah, wood stove and vast library (Your suite includes a substantial collection of books on the history of Cascadia, plants, people, ghosts lighthouses, shipwrecks, flora, fauna and the literary arts). I will be in and out of the property during your stay but your suite is entirely private and your alone. I am available if you need me for anything. The NeighborhoodWe love how secluded we are with access to the sandy river and beyond city life and noise but still accessible enough to get to the city. We are located along a rural country road. Getting AroundThe closest bus stop is a few miles away and likely out of walking distance. We are located in the country. We can also provide the use of a Smart Car as a rental during your stay. Please inquire about this service. It's good to have a car while at squirrel farm for transportation to all the hikes, waterfalls, river, Hood River and all the fun in The Gorge! Other Things to NoteWe can also provide the use of a Smart Car as a rental during your stay. Please inquire about this service.

The SpaceLa Hacienda is a very comfortable suburban home in a quiet, safe neighborhood with easy access to Portland, the Gorge and Mt Hood. The room is small but cozy with a double bed and dresser. Full bath/shower is just across the hall. The area is on the edge of the urban growth boundary next to the sprawling, valley farming/ranching region that Oregon is renowned for with majestic views of gorgeous Wy'east, the native name for Mt Hood. For a fully-rounded experience of our beloved Portland staying in a, still functioning, historical area like this is essential. Guest AccessBedroom, bath, kitchen, parking, major highways, public transportation. Interaction with GuestsGenerosity is the hallmark of La Hacienda. Always adaptable to your customary life. I will provide breakfast to suit your diet and other meals by arrangement. I have travelled extensively and can communicate in virtually all languages. My life is characterized by continuous learning so come teach me about yourselves...or not, your choice. The NeighborhoodQuiet, middle-class suburban neighborhood. The SpaceOur Victorian room is cozy, but the house has plenty of space to stretch out and read or work. Your bed is full size, not a queen. Your towels are in the closet. The window overlooks the parking and garden areas. There is a chair and two nightstands. Near the chair is a new USB outlet to charge all your devices... well two of your devices at a time. There is a blackout shade to cover the window. And there is a sound machine with several natural sounds, such as the ocean, and radio to help you sleep. It's clock is bright, but can be dimmed with the snooze button. The manual is available for reference. Guest AccessWhen you arrive, please drive to the left around the carriage house/big trees and park in the back near the other cars. The side entrance is much more efficient for coming and going. Use the kitchen, including double cooktops, wall ovens, and the dishwasher. Help yourself to anything you need from the pantry or fridge. The house manual describes where to find glasses and dishes. Upstairs, the hall bathroom has a tub/shower, new toilet, NEW shower fixtures, and two sinks. For your shower, choose from overhead, wand, body, or all three. (The five body spouts can be jet or mist.) Temperature can be raised by pushing the button on the dial; it's a child safety feature. The hall laundry has both a new washer and new dryer, which are very quiet and efficient. Main floor bathroom features historic style fixtures, including clawfoot tub with a sit-down hand shower wand, which we almost never use. But for bathroom emergencies, it's available! Feel free to sit with us at the table. Also, go ahead and lounge on any of the couches inside or benches outside, including the sky chairs out back. We also have a small play structure for little kids. Interaction with GuestsWe rise with the toddler between 6 and 8am, and typically turn in around 9-10pm. Since we work from home, you can probably find one of us anytime. We love to hang out with guests, and even share meals. The NeighborhoodOur neighbors are very kind, so feel free to wave hello. Bridge Street is a pretty quiet street with Fairview Woods Park at the end, and Handy Park near the entrance, just across Fairview Avenue. The close by coffee shops, Divine Mocha and Stomping Grounds, are both very nice. It's easy to get into Portland or out to the gorge from here. Getting AroundThe bus lines are a few minutes walk, and from there getting to downtown Portland takes about an hour. From the airport you can take the max to the bus at gateway station. Or it is a 15 minute drive. We have plenty of parking space behind the garage. Other Things to NoteIf you're hiking in the gorge, make sure to pick a place to eat before hand and note what time they close in the evening! Most places over there close early. We can recommend a place if you need help. We have a lot of fruit in the backyard that you can pick. Please don't scare the chickens. There are raccoons and coyotes in the area, so watch out for them. And you can hear the highway and planes landing and taking off from PDX. It's mostly white noise to us, but if you're sensitive to that it might be bothersome. Use the sound machine or radio if you need to!

The SpaceThe space is cozy, quiet, and clean. Guest AccessWhile here, you'd have access to the shared kitchen, bathroom, and yard. Internet access and utilities are included as well. Interaction with GuestsI'm a fulltime teacher (day school and night school, and am also a server a night), so am gone often. I am a traveler at heart, too, and love offering my home to those the need a place to rest during their own journeys. Because I work three jobs, I maintain a very busy schedule and it's possible that we may not get a chance to meet during your stay. I appreciate your stay, though, and hope that you find my home warm and inviting! The NeighborhoodThe home is in an older, quiet neighborhood, in walking distance to grocery, coffee, and other stores. Getting AroundParking is easy here. We are also within walking distance to the MAX station, which is a 30-ish minute ride to downtown PDX. Other Things to NoteThere are two cats on the property.

The SpaceThis little cabin is tucked into my half acre backyard. Surrounded by a garden, goats, hens, old growth fir trees, gypsy trailer, and a hot tub - you will also have access to a half bath with a toilet, sink, and laundry in the main house - as well as an outdoor shower on the deck in the summer months. These spaces are shared. The cabin, however, is all yours. The cabin itself is equipped with a queen size bed with memory foam mattress, a table with two chairs, a dresser, as well as a very-mini fridge. This is a space to unwind and relax. Guest AccessYou'll have access to the cabin, the yard, hot tub, deck, outdoor grill, outdoor shower and tub (in the summer months), and half bath (toilet, sink, washer and dryer) in the main house. All spaces other than the cabin are shared. Please note that in the winter the outdoor shower is not available (freezing temps mean frozen pipes). Interaction with GuestsI'll be there when available! I'll probably say hi and make sure you're doing alright, or answer questions that you have. If we're using the shared spaces at the same time then you'll see me a bit more. I am out with the animals daily doing chores. I'm here when you need me, but respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodHalfway between Mt Hood and Portland, this spot is a good jumping off point for the gorge, mountain activities, or time in Portland. The neighborhood is partly suburban, partly urban, and party farmy. It's a big mix out here! Getting AroundShort drive to the mountain or the Gorge or downtown. Having a car is recommended, the blue line to downtown portland is about a 3/4 mile walk away. Public busses stop nearby as well. Other Things to NotePlease be mindful that this is a bit of a rustic space. In the summer months there's a outdoor shower, in the winter months there is no shower. There are other guests sometimes in the gypsy trailer, shared spaces are used by them as well - and the outdoor fridge and kitchen is for their use. I live here as well as my roommate, we appreciate quiet guests, and will give you your privacy during your stay (we like ours as well). We do use the common areas though, so you can expect to see us on occasion. If you want to meet the goats please ask first! I am happy to let you in the pen (though of course you can pet them over the fence). Please don't feed any of the animals (many things are harmful to them). Once the temp falls below freezing the outdoor shower is turned off, please just be aware that in the winter months there may be no shower depending on the temp. We turn it back on when the temp goes up - so it really just depends on your luck with the weather. Portland does not see a lot of snow or freezing temps, so for the most part the shower will be on (still worth noting though if you're booking in the winter months).

The SpaceThis is a beautifully (and imperfect) hand-crafted wooden gypsy trailer. Parked on my half acre farm, you will feel like you're in the country - while still near the city. The trailer folds open, or closed depending on the weather and how much privacy you'd like. Included with the space is access to an outdoor shower, half bathroom, as well as a hot tub. This is like camping - just in a pretty backyard with goats, chickens, and with a hot tub. Please note that there is no heat, electricity, or AC in this space. There is access to outlets in the bathroom to plug in phones, etc. This is a rustic experience. The bed is smaller in size - somewhere between a twin and a double. There is a chiminea and seating specifically for the trailer just outside your door. As long as there is no burn ban, please feel free to have a little fire and enjoy being outside. Guest AccessYou have access to the backyard, outdoor shower, half bathroom, as well as a hot tub. Hot tub hours are from 9 am - 9 pm. There is an outdoor grill for your use. Please note there are other guests on the property, and some of these spaces are shared. The trailer is all yours. In the winter months the outdoor shower is not available. Interaction with GuestsI live in the main house and will be here if you need me. I also use the hot tub and the yard, and you may see me out with the goats or taking a soak. The SpaceCedar Zen is the perfect combination of accessibility and solitude. The building has lots of architectural character, but not at the expense of cozy livability. Guest AccessGuests have run of the house, including: kitchen, kitchen nook, three bedrooms, two baths (one in the master bedroom), large living room, family room, dining room, laundry room (with washer, dryer, iron and board) and back patio. Interaction with GuestsWe are not on the premises, but will provide the neighbors contact number in case something needs attention. The NeighborhoodCabin Zen sits on a quiet street lined with Hogan Cedars, a uniquely conical cedar which are native only to the immediate area (about 5 square miles). Most homes in the neighborhood where craft built in the late 1970's by the same builder, mindfully nestled into the evergreen surroundings, each house with its own unique character and a unifying theme of cedar siding, large custom windows, and bold angles.
