The SpaceSpacious master bedroom with vaulted ceiling is in a beautiful new (2008) condo with central air/heating. Condo is on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so there are two flights of stairs. It is sadly not wheelchair accessible. Room with queen bed in quiet, peaceful, smoke-free home is a bibliophile's dream, as a huge section of my library is housed in this room and available to guest during their stay. Attached ensuite bathroom with standard-sized tub and shower ensure your privacy. Plenty of towels, toiletries, and a hairdryer. Rental also includes wifi internet access, but no cable or satellite (don't have that in the house anymore because of epic time suckage it creates).
Coffee or tea included every morning, if guest expresses interest. One shelf in fridge for guest's food storage and use of microwave, stove, etc.
Clubhouse has a fitness room and a swimming pool. Parking in guest spots (short term renters) or resident spots with parking sticker (longer than two weeks) in the Condo complex or on a side street. However, please know that parking has limitations (mostly on weekends when folks seem to have more guests), so this place is best suited for someone who is willing to park across the street on Arroyo or intends to use the Max Lightrail. Those who want to bring a bicycle may store it in the garage. Short (for me, but I do walk a lot in good weather) walk to Quatama Max station. The Streets of Tanasbourne mall (Macy's, REI, the Gap, Loft, and more) many chain and local restaurants (Bambuza Vietnamese, Nice Rice, Xtreme Pizza, PF Chang's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Noodles & Co., Chipotle, Panera, Jamba Juice, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and more), coffee shops (two major chains and a local establishment called Insomnia Coffee that rocks!), and several grocery stores (Whole Foods, Safeway, Trader Joe's and Winco) are also within walking distance. The new Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center is next to the Streets of Tanasbourne. The Rock Creek walking/bilking trail is nearby, as well as several parks. "Silicon Forest" location also great for business travelers working with tech companies such as Intel, as well as for families and visitors of student attending Pacific University's Hillsboro Health Professions Campus. Easy freeway access to Hwy. 26 for day trips into Portland, the Willamette Valley Scenic Wine country, and to the Oregon Coast. Hillsboro is a westside suburb in the greater Portland metro area. It is the center of the tech industry in Oregon.
ABOUT ME: I am a public school teacher/counselor, so, during the school year, I have an educator's schedule. I will be staying in the second bedroom (also on the third floor), as this is my private residence. As the photo shows, I am an a voracious reader (former high school and middle school English teacher). I am also an avid West Coast Swing danc(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) president of the Portland Swing Dance Club, current Vice President) who also has background in Ballroom and Latin dances. I have ties/relationships with all the area's dance studios and venues. I am very knowledgeable about the local attraction in Hillsboro and throughout the greater Portland metro area (a family member is a travel professional with AAA). I keep a stack of maps, local attractions, menus, and important internet links in your room, so you can learn more about the area and interesting things to do while you are here.
This condo is my dream home and I am very proud of it, so I treat visitors as honored guests. Please feel free to ask questions about the community. I see this as an awesome opportunity to get to know people and share a calm, comfortable space, while making a little income to supplement my squeezed budget---I'm still making up for those pesky education budget cuts! Guest AccessAccess to the pool (May-Oct), weight room, kitchen, laundry. My office is off limits. Interaction with GuestsI will be living in the condo at the same time guests will be staying here. My room is next to the rental room (my bathroom is between the rooms).
I will certainly engage in conversations and do whatever I can to be helpful/answer questions. However, I am quite busy with work, going to my gym, teaching dance, etc. and usually keep to myself at home to recharge after talking most of the day at school. Depending on when their booking starts, some guest may be entering the space via a keysafe when I am at work or out dancing.
I often take my cues from my guests. The NeighborhoodMy favorite thing about my neighborhood is the new extension of the Rock Creek Trail that goes to Orchard Park. It is a lovely walk through a gorgeous park that gets the balance between that starts right in front of my community. I also like how close I am to shopping and the Max. Getting AroundThe Elmonica Max station is just under a mile away. There is also good bus service, as the condo is not too far from several major streets.
